Sheryl Willett, helped despite MD
Sheryl Francis Willett suffered muscular dystrophy all her life, but it didn't stop her from professional, charitable and family activities.
"She stepped up and got things accomplished, " said her husband, Darryl Willett. "It was just like there was nothing that could stop her from achieving the goals she set."
Mrs. Willett, 41, of Erlanger, died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood.
She worked as a fundraiser for the Northern Kentucky Housing Authority and the Southwest Ohio Easter Seals. She also taught at fund-raising seminars.
Mrs. Willett, a graduate of the University of Illinois, was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Latonia.
For the past 11 years, she coached and managed teams in the Dixie Knothole Baseball League. She enjoyed volunteering at her children's schools.
"She believed in the mission of the non-profit groups she worked for, " her husband said. "She could have made more money at other jobs. But she was happy doing what she did with those associations.
"She was a very special person who believed in helping others. She cared about everybody. She loved her family very much and did all she could to support her children."
Other survivors include her sons Mike Willett, Jeremy Willett and Max Willett, all of Erlanger; her father, Jerry Spetnagel of Villa Hills; brothers, Dean Spetnagel of Ina, Ill., and Ward Spetnagel of Tucson, Ariz.; and a sister, Faye Shook of Steelville, Mo.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Connley Brothers Funeral Home in Latonia.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Taylor Mill.

Mary Ethel Brooks, 91, of Fort Thomas, formerly of Latonia, died Saturday at Highland of Fort Thomas. She was a retired self-employed drapery maker and seamstress, and was a member of Holy Cross Church, Covington. Her husband, William H. Brooks, and sons, Bernard W. Brooks and Anthony Duane Brooks, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Rita C. Brooks of Independence; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Larry N. Brown, 55, of Alexandria, died Sunday at his residence. He was retired from Western-South Financial Group, Cincinnati, and was a member of Plum Creek Christian Church, Campbell County.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy Brown; and daughters, Amanda Hope Brown and Courtney Brook Brown.

Mary Ruth Jones Caldwell, 87, of Williamstown, died Sunday at Grant Manor Health Care Center, Williamstown. She was a homemaker and a retired nurse's aide from Owen County Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. Her husband, Alva "Mac" Caldwell, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, William M. Caldwell of Florence; a sister, Alma Dugan of Williamstown; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Ricky Lee Dallas, 48, of Williamstown, died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a welder at Wagstaff, Inc., and a member of the Quarter Horse Association.

Wanda Pribble Eckert, 74, of Butler, died Monday at her residence. She was a member of the Pleasant Hill Christian Church. Her husband, William "Bill" Eckert, preceded her in death.

Elizabeth C. "Betty" Hartje, 81, of Ryland Heights, died Saturday at Mary Rose Mission, Covington.
She was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Ryland Heights, and United Methodist Women.
Her husband, Vincent Hartje, preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons, Craig Hartje of Cincinnati and Jim Hartje of Pensacola, Fla.; a brother, Frank Ringenbach of Southern Pines, N.C.; and three grandchildren.

William Albert Heidrich Jr., 80, of Ashtabula, Ohio, formerly of Covington, died Sunday at his residence. He was retired from SCM Chemicals and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Retirees Breakfast Club and Mended Hearts, the Ohio chapter of the Destroyer Escort Sailors Association, the Knights of Columbus, and the Booster Club of St. John High School.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Ann McGoey Heidrich; sons, William A. Heidrich III, of West Chester, Ohio, and Dr. John Heidrich of Geneva, Ohio; daughters, Kathryn L. Donald Clay Henry, 63, of Newport, died Saturday at his daughter's residence in Cincinnati.

His wife, Mary Emily Watson, and a stepson, Jerry Centers, preceded him in death.
