Wendell Robinson, had friends everywhere

Yvonne Crase Robinson didn't know how many friends her husband had until he died.

"I can't do nothing, the phone rings all the time, " she said Wednesday night.

Wendell Robinson, of Walton, died Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. He was 65.

"Everybody liked him. He had friends everywhere, " she said.

Mr. Robinson grew up in Morgan County, but moved to Boone County to live with a family friend when his parents divorced.

When he was 18, he got a job as an equipment operator, loading and unloading trucks at The Witt Co. in Cincinnati, a job he would hold until he retired about five years ago.

He remained a member of the Wheel Rim Baptist Church in Morgan County, however, the church his wife grew up in.

Mr. Robinson also enjoyed farming. He worked in cattle and tobacco with the late Edward Smith on his farm on Hicks Pike in Boone County.

Mr. Robinson was also a big NASCAR fan, especially of Dale Earnhardt, and he took his wife to see races in Tennessee and North Carolina.

"He was a very good husband and father. We counted on him for everything, " his wife said. "Right now, it just seems like he's gone somewhere."

Other survivors include daughters, Rhondia Gail Brewer of Walton and Deborah Ann Estes of Florence; a brother, Arnold Robinson of Cannel City; sisters, Bertha Fallen of Hazel Green and Loretta Fields of Dayton, Ohio; stepbrothers, Noah Hatton and Ralph Hatton, both of Stanton and David Hatton of Helechawa; a stepsister, Teresa Crase of Walton; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home, Verona. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in New Bethel Cemetery, Verona. Memorials are suggested to Wheel Rim United Baptist Church, P.O. Box 67, Verona, Ky. 41092.

Toni Janine Carroll, 39, of Elsmere, died Tuesday at her residence. She was a sheet metal worker at Mestek, Inc.

Survivors include her husband, Donald Richards; a son, Johnathon M. Hall of Elsmere; daughters, Charity J. Willett of Dayton, Ohio, and Laura Richards of Florence; and one grandchild.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at McCreary County Funeral Home, Whitley City. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Don Catchen & Son Funeral Home, Elsmere-Erlanger. Burial will be in Hollaway Cemetery, Whitley County. Memorials are suggested to St. Elizabeth Hospice, 401 E. 20th St., Covington, Ky. 41014.

Sylvia Draper, 64, of Williamstown, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Grant County. She was a nurse's aide at Dry Ridge Personal Care Home and a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church, Williamstown. Her husband, William Herbert Draper, preceded her in death.

Survivors include sons, William Glenn Draper of Williamstown and Johnny Decker of English; a daughter, Debbie Draper Montgomery of Crittenden; brothers, James Smith of Williamstown, Gary Lovelace of Falmouth, and John Smith of Crittenden; sisters, Janet Marksberry and Patty Sullivan, both of Williamstown; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Williamstown Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 102454, Atlanta, Ga. 30368; or Memorial Fund of Sylvia Draper, P.O. Box 130, Williamstown, Ky. 41097.

Regina C. Fuller, 55, of Cincinnati, formerly of Latonia, died Friday at Mercy Hospital, Cincinnati. She was a homemaker and a member of Latonia Christian Church.

Survivors include her husband, Timothy Ray Fuller; sons, Timothy T. Fuller of Harrison, Ohio, Mark A. Fuller of Sedansville, Ohio, and Stephen R. Fuller of Cincinnati; sisters, Patricia Osborne of Taylor Mill and Brenda Payne of Independence; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Latonia Christian Church. Visitation will begin there at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Taylor Mill. Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia, is handling the arrangements.

Martha Doyle Holliday, 77, of Bromley, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. She was a homemaker. Her husbands, Ed Holliday and Elzie Doyle, preceded her in death.

Survivors include sons, Leon Doyle of Florence, Roger Doyle and Bill Doyle, both of Independence; daughters, Ann Sandusky of Independence, Jackie Mason of Erlanger, and Carrie Crawford of Slocomb, Ala.; sisters, Kathern Noble of Florence and Rosalee Hall of Middlesboro; 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Ludlow. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Burlington Cemetery.

Genoa Wallace Jenkins, 85, of Clifton Forge, Va., died Tuesday at Woodlands Nursing Home, Clifton Forge, Va. Her husband, George Torrence Jenkins Sr., preceded her in death.

Survivors include sons, Orville R. Jenkins of Cold Spring, George T. Jenkins, Jr., of Clifton Forge, Va., Danny R. Jenkins of Covington, and Robert W. Jenkins of Midlothian, Va.; a brother, Charles W. Wallace Jr., of Keystone Heights, Fla.; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Central Advent Christian Cemetery, Clifton Forge, Va. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, Va. Memorials are suggested to Immanuel Baptist Church Building Fund, 2819 Douthat Road, Clifton Forge, Va. 24422.

Helen V. "Snow" Jump, 89, of Independence, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.

Arrangements are pending with Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence.

Arlie Lester Mitchell, Sr., 87, of Dover, died Wednesday at Meadowview Regional Medical Center, Maysville. He was a retired maintenance worker from Union Oil Co. and a member of Christian Holiness Church.

Survivors include his wife, Verdena Gill Mitchell; a son, Arlie Lester Mitchell Jr., of Chatsworth, Iowa; a stepson, Tony Chamblin of Georgetown; daughters, Jewell Combess of Elliottville and Janette Parker of Cincinnati; brothers, Ray Mitchell of Mays Lick and Elgin Mitchell of Carlisle; sisters, Frances Purcell of Mason County, Catherine Denton of Carlisle, and Betty Mitchell of Millersburg; 11 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Brell & Son Funeral Home, Maysville. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery, Dover.

Judith Ann Poweleit, 63, of Edgewood, died Tuesday at Clermont Mercy Hospital, Batavia, Ohio. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include a brother, Alvin D. Poweleit of Edgewood.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Pius X Church, Edgewood. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas. Memorials are suggested to St. Pius X Church, 348 Dudley Road, Edgewood, Ky. 41017. Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Erlanger, is handling the arrangements.

Rosemary Schultz, 77, of Alexandria, died Wednesday at her residence. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Alexandria, and Valley View Homemakers. A son, Tim Schultz, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband, Irvin Schultz; sons, Allan Schultz and Ken Schultz, both of Alexandria; and five grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Alexandria. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Alexandria Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Alexandria. Memorials are suggested to St. Mary Catholic Church, 8246 E. Janet Lane Stewart Souther, 59, of Crittenden, died Tuesday at her residence.

She was a homemaker and a member of Future Farmers of America.

Survivors include a son, Michael Souther of Crittenden; a daughter, Melissa E. Souther of Walton; a brother, Gerald Milward Stewart of Edgewood; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Erlanger. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Highlands Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Jessie Ruth Glore Stewart, 80, of Owenton, died Tuesday at New Horizons Medical Center, Owenton. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Lenden Stewart.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at McDonald & New Funeral Home, Seminary Street, Owenton. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Poplar Grove Baptist Church, 1057 Dickerson Road, Russell Springs, Ky. 42642.

Della Christine Tungate, 93, of Independence, died Monday at Regency Manor, Independence. She was a member of Piner Baptist Church, Morning View.

Her husband, Artie Johnson Tungate, and a daughter, Lois Campbell, preceded her in death.

Survivors include a daughter, Wyona Whaley of Independence; 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at noon Saturday at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Wilmington Baptist Cemetery, Morning View. Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association, 333 Guthrie St., Suite 207, Louisville, Ky. 40202; or Piner Baptist Church, 15044 Madison Pike, Morning View, Ky. 41063.

Marie A. Weber, 86, of Fort Thomas, died Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. She was a retired registered nurse from St. Luke Hospital East and a member of St. Rose Church, Cincinnati.

Her husband, William Weber, preceded her in death.

Survivors include sons, Jim Weber of Edgewood, William Weber of Hyde Point, N.C., and John Weber of Fort Thomas; daughters, Peggy Marlow of Highland Heights, Rose Chinn of Fort Thomas, and Tina Weber of Ludlow; a brother, George Blankmeyer of Cincinnati; sisters, Gertrude Pelopida of Mount Carmel, Ohio, Pat Jaspers of Milford, Ohio, and Jean Smith of Scottsdale, Ariz.; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday at St. Rose Church, Cincinnati. There is no visitation. Memorials are suggested to St. Rose Church, 2501 Eastern Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio 45202. Dobbling Funeral Home, Fort Thomas, is handling the arrangements.
