Marilyn I. Abner, 74, passed away July 20, 2005. Born in Brilliant, Ohio, she lived most of her life in Akron. She also enjoyed gar dening. Marilyn was preceded in death by her sister, Glenna Beaver. She is survived by her husband, Clarence; daughter, Linda (William) Petrik of Concord, Ohio; son, Greg (Vicki) Abner of Canton; sister, Marcie (Herbert) Hoskins of Colorado; brother, William (Ann) Beaver of Beavertown, Ohio; grandchil dren, Collin, Lindsey, Mark, Malisa, and Tina; great - grand daughter, Jalyn. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 23, 2005, at the Donovan Bagnoli Funeral Home, 339 Southwest Ave., Tallmadge. Interment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Kenneth S. Abney
Kenneth S. Abney, 71, Gravois Mills, formerly of Marshfield, passed from this life peacefully Friday, April 27, 2007, in Jefferson City. He was born May 31, 1935, to parents Grover and Ressie (Ridge) Abney in West Plains.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife and mother of his children, Mamie Abney; his beloved second wife, Tressie Abney; parents, Grover and Ressie Abney; sister, Maxine White; brothers, Grover, Dean, Richard and Ernest; and grandson, Lee.
Kenneth leaves behind his new bride, Barbara (Clines) Abney of the home; daughter, Wanda Davis and husband Paul of Mammoth Springs, Ark., Misty Hoover, Fair Grove, and Kathy Petrie and son Kenneth Gene, both of Colorado; stepchildren Bobby Clines, Oklahoma, and Helen Nash, Gravois Mills; five grandchildren; three great - grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; seven stepgreat - grandchildren; sisters and spouses, J.R. and Vickie Gibbs, Marshfield, Steven and Debbie Hodges of Springfield; brothers and spouses, Albert and Sharon Abney, Troy and Doris Abney, all of Springfield, Clifford and Ruth Abney, Texas, and Danny and Debra Abney of Republic; many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services were Tuesday, May 1, at 1 p.m. at Bethel Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Owsley and Rev. James Crawford officiating, under the direction of Fraker Funeral Home of Marshfield. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Springfield.

Kimberly Ann Abner
Kimberly Ann Abner, 32, of St. Albans, went home with our Lord and Savior on May 13, 2006. She fought a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. Born Feb. 12, 1974, in Lakenheath, England, she is the daughter of Charles and Aura Shannon of St. Albans. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Charles W. Shannon Jr.; her great - grandmother, Elizabeth Ellen Cobb; and her great - grandfather, Gus Cobb. Kim was a 1992 graduate of St. Albans High School and attended West Virginia State University. She was a former employee of Thomas Memorial Hospital and a member of Gateway Church of Christ. Kim was full of life and laughter and always found a way to keep those around her strong. She is survived by her loving husband of 12 years, Christian “Chris” Abner; son, Clayton Christian Abner, at home; parents, Charles and Aura Shannon; sister, Sarah Elizabeth Shannon; nephew, Derik Bryce Johnson, all of St. Albans; mother - in - law, Dolly Fortney of St. Albans; paternal grandmother, Evelyn Mae Shannon of St. Albans; uncles, Russell L. Shannon and wife, Angie, of St. Albans, Jerome “Jerry” W. Shannon and Charlie Smoke of Mobile, Ala.; cousins, Chris Shannon and wife, Holli, of Winfield, Melissa Cavender and husband, Brandon, of Culloden; maternal grandparents, Samuel and Janice Curry of Charlotte, N.C.; uncle, Mark A. Curry and wife, Sandie, of St Albans; aunts, Patti Cobb and husband, Jackie, Susan E. Wilcox and husband, Mark, all of St. Albans, Mary L. McMillion and husband, Roger, of Fort Mill, S.C.; and cousins, Brent Curry of New York, William Curry of South Carolina, Tracey, J.R., A.J., Tyler, and Katie Cobb, Samantha and Walker Wilcox, all of St. Albans. In addition, Kim's memory will be carried on by a great deal of close friends, especially Robin Sylvester, Kendall Nidy, Rachel White, and Herman and Carrie Thaxton. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Duke University Medical Center for all their support and care of Kim while she received treatments. Also, special thanks to Dr. Kiran Patel and staff and to Dusty and LeeAnn Phalen for all of their love and support throughout Kim's fight with breast cancer. A celebration of Kim's life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 18, at Bartlett - Chapman Funeral Home, 409 Sixth Ave., St. Albans, with Pastor David Stauffer officiating. A gathering of friends and family will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Per Kim's wishes, there will not be a burial service. Mat Abney, 83, Dies At Home Here Mat Abney, 83, retired farmer, died at 5:45am Monday at his home, 136 Linden Avenue. Mr. Abney was born in Estill County, but has resided in Clark County for the past 32 years. He was a son of the late Clem and Martha Chaney Abney and was a member of the Rose Chapel Church Winn Ave. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Margaret Lee Abney, three sons, George Abney, Hamilton Ohio, Dillard and Leonard Abney of Winchester; three daughters, Mrs. Mary Puckett, of Clark County, Mrs. Robert Grimes, Hamilton Ohio, and Mrs. Price Green, Winchester; 20 grandchildren, five great - grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 pm Tuesday at the Scobee Funeral Home by the Rev. Walter Hampton. Burial will be in the Winchester Cemeteryetery. Pallbearers will Bob Grimes, Nim Gilvin, Herbert Puckett, William Puckett, Price Green and Ernie Puckett. The body is at the funeral home where it will remain until the hour of services.

Valparaiso, IN - Michael L. Abner, 58, of Valparaiso formerly of Whiting, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2005 at Porter Hospital. He was born January 20, 1947 in Centertown, Kentucky the son of Tom & Lee (Smith) Abner, graduated from Whiting High School in 1965 and served 4 years with the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He had worked the past 39 years in Shipping at Bethlehem Steel's 160 inch Plate Mill and was a member of the National Rifle Association. Survivors include his wife, Christine "Tina" (Miller) Abner of Valparaiso, their two children: Kim Abner and Michael Abner both of Valparaiso and his mother; Lee Abner of Whiting. Mrs. Minnie Ethel Jennings Abney, age 91 of Mt. Vernon, died Tuesday, Sep. 6, 2005 at the Terrace Nursing & Rehabilitation Facility in Berea. She was born in Rockcastle County on Oct. 15, 1913 the daughter of Melvin and Rachel Creech Jennings. She was a retired custodian for Miami of Ohio University at Oxford, enjoyed sewing, and was of the Pentecostal Faith. Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. William Barnett, Winchester, a son, Ernest Abner, United States Air Force, MO. a sister, Mrs. Gladys Baker, Detroit Mich and three grandchildren. Mitzi Lee Abney
Mitzi Lee Abney, Willard, MO, passed away Friday evening in St. John's Hospital, Springfield, following complications from a brain hemorrhage. Mitzi was born in Springfield, Mo., on January 10, 1968, the daughter of Jess and Margaret (Kime) Abney. She was a graduate of Willard High School in 1984 and Drury College in 1988. She lettered all four years at Willard High School in basketball, volleyball, track and golf. She was the Missouri state long jump champion. While at Drury, she played volleyball. Mitzi was a free spirit and lover of children and animals. She was a Christian and a loving and caring person. Her wish to be an organ donor was honored. By giving of her self, other individuals can continue to live and enjoy life. Mitzi is survived by her parents, Jess and Margaret Abney, of Willard, Mo.; one sister, Melody and husband, Ron Huffman, one special nephew, Briton Lee Feitas, all of Joplin, Mo.; her maternal grandmother, Florence Kime, of Willard, Mo.; several cousins; one uncle; and one aunt. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Barney Kime and uncle, Harry Kime. A celebration of Mitzi's life will be honored with graveside services to be held Wednesday, March 24, 2004, at 10 a.m. in Wesley Cemetery, Willard, Mo., with interment following under direction of Wilson Brim Daniel Funeral Home, Ash Grove, Mo. William E. Abney
William E. Abney, 86, died August 9, 2005, in Port Townsend, Wash. Born February 21, 1919, to William and Laura Lizabeth (Thomas) Abney in Tyler, Texas, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps as a young man. He served as a master sergeant in Korea and the Pacific and was honorably discharged after 20 years. He then worked security on the naval base in San Diego for 22 years. On June 7, 1946, he married
Ivodel Verna Canton in Yuma, Ariz. William had a kind heart, a good sense of humor and a love of music, especially big band and swing. He is survived by his wife, Ivodel, at their Port Townsend home, and his niece Wanda Byram and her husband, Jack Hutton. Preceding him in death were his six siblings. Burial is in El Camino Vista of Liberty in San Diego, Calif. Memorial contributions are suggested to Jefferson Healthcare Special Programs, 834 Sheridan, Port Townsend, WA 98368. William Lincoln Abney
"William Lincoln Abney died at the family home, Paola, Kas., at 4:30 o'clock Saturday morning, January 25, 1936, at the age of 75 years and six months. Funeral services were held from Metzler's chapel, Paola, Sunday afternoon, January 26 at 2:30 Conducted by the Rev. Whittaker of the First Baptist Church of Paola. The Odd Fellow Lodge of which Mr. Abney had been a member for forty - five years conducted a short ceremony at the grave. Interment was in Paola Cemetery.
William Lincoln Abney was born June 27, 1860 in Springfield, Ill. He was married
to Miss Martha S. Morgan, December 25, 1881, and he and Mrs. Abney celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary at the home last Christmas.
Surviving besides the widow are six children, Marion Abney, Paola, Patsy Mitchell, Yates Center, Ks., Ethel Rose, Olathe, Eunice Henry, Olathe, Jim Abney, Olathe, ans Sudie Glasscock, Paola. Also two sisters, Mrs. Maggie McCammon and Mrs. Destia McCoy; eighteen grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Mr. Abney spent nearly his entire life in Paola. He was well known and well liked throughout the community.He was a loving father who got a lot out of life and rejoiced in the (sic.) Happiness of his children and family. Although a man of meager financial circumstances, (sic.) He was rich in thought and deed. His unfailing loyalty to his family and friends will long be remembered by all who knew him. His life was his family's life; their happiness was his happiness.
Mr. Abney was quite well known in Olathe as he had visited relatives and friends on numerous occasions. His death not only is (sic.) distinct loss to the family, but to a multitude of loyal friends."
