Harold Stidham, salesman, loved being around people
Harold Stidham was "Mr. Friendly."
"He was real easy going and very friendly with everybody, " said Mr. Stidham's son, Mike Stidham of Bellevue. "He got along well with all his neighbors.
"He never had a bad word to say about anybody. He loved being around people, and he loved talking to people. He was Mr. Friendly."
Mr. Stidham, 80, of Bellevue, died Monday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.
He was a salesman for 35 years with Elmex Corp. in Cincinnati, a wholesaler that distributed housewares and toys to stores.
Mr. Stidham was a member of St. Anthony Church in Bellevue for 55 years, a member of its parish council and of the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
He volunteered at the Parish Kitchen in Covington and delivered Meals on Wheels.
Mr. Stidham was an Army medic during World War II in France and Germany.
His wife of 51 years, Martha Stidham, died in 2000.
"He was very community-oriented and very active at church, " said his son. "He loved doing Meals on Wheels. He was older than a lot of the people he delivered meals to and he enjoyed conversing with them."
Mr. Stidham's favorite hobby was playing golf.
"He often said his wife loved golf, too, because it got him out of the house, " said his son.
Also surviving are another son, David Stidham of Memphis, Tenn.; daughters, Susan Minton of Cincinnati and Nancy Sharp of Cold Spring; a sister, Ann Durham of Springfield, Va.; and six grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Divine Mercy Church, Bellevue. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at A.C. Dobbling and Son Funeral Home, Bellevue. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas.

Virginia L. Lonneman Burke, 83, of Cincinnati, formerly of Villa Hills, died at 3:50 p.m. Monday at Mercy St. Theresa Care Center, Cincinnati. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Francis P. Burke, died in 1991.
Survivors include sons, Dr. Tim N. Burke of Louisville and Mark E. Burke of Cincinnati; daughters, Patricia L. Burke of Milford, Ohio, Cindy A. Meier of New Albany, Ohio, Terry J. Lievestro of Fairfield, Ohio, Jeana B. Wahlbrink of Cincinnati, Seana K. Kobak of Seattle and Jan B. Graves of Villa Hills; and 21 grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 6 p.m. Friday at St. Joseph Church, Crescent Springs. Visitation will begin there at 4 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Elbert T. Cunningham, 62, of Elsmere, died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a retired employee of Logistics Industry and a Navy veteran.
Survivors include a son, Timmy Vo of Los Angeles; daughters, Trista Cunningham of Virginia and Nicole Cunningham of Miami; and a brother, Joel Johnson of Miami.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Hopper Funeral Home, Barbourville. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at Radel Funeral Home, Newport. Burial will be in Faulkner Chapel Cemetery, Barbourville.
Frances McCay Florence, 76, of Georgetown, formerly of Harrison County, died Monday at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington. She was a retired secretary and accounting clerk, and a member of Cynthiana Christian Church. She attended Newtown Christian Church. Her husband, Ross Florence, preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughters, Joyce McDaniel of Harrison County and Gena Cornett of Scott County; sisters, Carol Hamm of Cynthiana, Evelyn Jones of San Angelo, Texas, Dorothy Webb of Augusta, Maine, and Catherine Lindsey of Nashville, Tenn.; three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Ware Funeral Home, Cynthiana. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pythian Grove Cemetery, Berry. Memorials are suggested to Newtown Christian Church, 202 N. Main St., Cynthiana, Ky. 41031.
Ivory Lawson Gerow, 91, of Erlanger, died Sunday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. She was a retired waitress with the Crickett restaurant in Cincinnati. Her husband, Alfred Gerow, and a son, Jimmy Lawson, both preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughters, Phyllis Clifton of Taylor Mill and Rose Dalton of Park Hills; sisters, June Taylor of London, Viola Murdock of Fort Myers, Fla., and Sybil Faulkner of Tampa, Fla.; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, Corbin. Visitation will begin there at noon Thursday. Burial will be in Cumberland Memorial Gardens, Corbin.
Ace Anderson Hamblin, 13 days, the son of Shane and Terri Hamblin of Burlington, died Feb. 3 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Cincinnati.
Other survivors include a sister, Katelyn Williams, at home; and grandparents, Leonard and Jackie Adams and Sheilah and Robert Hamblin.

Paul J. Huffman, 65, of Maysville, died Sunday at his home. He was a retired lineman with Kentucky Utilities and a member of St. Patrick Church, Maysville. His wife, Carol Gilligan Huffman, died in 2000.
Survivors include a son, Paul Joseph Huffman II of Maysville; a daughter, Amy Huffman Cottingham of Union; a brother, Joseph Huffman of Carolina Beach, N.C., a sister, Rose Mary Wesselman of Cincinnati; and five grandchildren.

Virginia P. LaFata, 87, of Bromley, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington.

Gerard Offutt, 60, of Covington, died Sunday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a custodian.
Survivors include a daughter, Bridgette Offutt Oden of Covington; sisters, Patricia Offutt Shields of Covington and Deanna Foster of Cincinnati; brothers, Jerome "Bits" Offutt and George Offutt Jr.; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Jones, Simpson and Gee Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will begin there at 6 p.m. Friday. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Linden Grove Cemetery, Covington.
Flora Louise Juett Orphan, 88, of Latonia, died Friday at her home. She was a homemaker and a former secretary to Sen. Brent Spence. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Latonia, editor of the State of Kentucky PTA Magazine from 1952-1981 and a volunteer for Boys and Girls Club of America, Covington. She was a member of the Ohio Parliamentary Association. Her husband, John Orphan, died in 1983.
Survivors include a son, Nicholas J. Orphan of Atlanta; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Untied Methodist Church, Latonia. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 tonight at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Covington, and at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Viola L. Polking, 92, of Latonia, died Monday at her daughter's home in Elsmere. She was a homemaker. Her husband, William Polking, died in 1983.
Survivors include daughters, Patricia Fuller of Elsmere and Shirley Riedl of Cincinnati; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Viola Mae Bailey Prather, 68, of Covington, died Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.

Golden M. Raleigh, 72, of Newport, died Sunday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.
Survivors include sons, Floyd Raleigh of Newport and Bobby Raleigh of Hamilton, Ohio.

Jeffrey Scott Smith Jr., 28, of Springdale, Ohio, formerly of Grant County, died Monday at Fairfield Mercy Hospital. He was disabled.
Survivors include a son, Tyler Aaron Smith of Union; his mother and stepfather, Rena and Donnie Ackman of Springdale; his father and stepmother, Jeffrey Scott Smith Sr. and Christie Smith of Campton; a stepsister, Jennifer Ackman of Dayton, Ohio; a stepbrother, Zachary Ackman of Springdale; half-sisters, Nikki Smith and Brandy Smith, both of Campton; a half-brother, C.J. Smith of Campton; and grandmother, Vivian Clayton of Corinth.

Jon R. "Alligator Jack" Ziegler Sr., 62, of Alexandria, died at 7:15 p.m. Monday at his home. He was a custom car and truck restorer and a member of several car clubs.
Survivors include sons, Darren S. Ziegler of the state of California and Jon R. Ziegler Jr. of Cold Spring; and two grandchildren.
