Becky' Rogg, long-time store clerk
Eleanor "Becky" Rogg was a popular clerk at the old Dayton Dime Store for almost 20 years.
Mrs. Rogg, 85, of Dayton, died Wednesday at Hospice of Northern Kentucky at St. Luke Hospital in Fort Thomas.
"Everybody in Dayton knew my mom, " said Anthony Rogg Jr. of Dayton. "At one time or another everybody in town came into the dime store."
The store was located in the 600 block of 6th Street in Dayton, across from the Dayton Chili Parlor. Mrs. Rogg came to the store after working in downtown Cincinnati at McAlpin's and Rollman's Department Store.
She started out working at the dress shop next to the dime store, "because that's where she had her experience, " said Rogg. "But she liked working in the dime store and spent a lot of her time there."
Mrs. Rogg was active in the Navy Mothers of America post 561, when her son served in the Navy during the Vietnam era.
After she retired from the dime store in 1981, she remained an active member of the Dayton and Bellevue communities.
She served as president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW Post 2899 in Bellevue and was one of the organizers of the annual Poppy Day Flower Sale.
"Both she and my dad were top sellers in the Poppy sale, " said Rogg. "They really liked doing that." Mrs. Rogg's husband, the late Anthony Rogg Sr., was a Dayton police officer.
She also was a member of Senior Citizens of Bellevue-Dayton and a volunteer at Senior's SelfHelp of Bellevue, located in the retirement community at the old St. Anthony School.
She belonged to the Happy 55 Club and Little Flower Society of St. Barnard Church, where she was a member.
Her daughter, Jacqueline Eidemiller, preceded her in death. Other survivors include a granddaughter, Sandra Eidemiller, of Dayton, Ohio.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Bernard Church, Dayton. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Dobbling & Son Funeral Home, Bellevue. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas.

Addie Barrett Alford, 74, of Berry, died Thursday at her residence.
She was a former employee from Midwest Bag Co., Des Moines, Iowa, and a member of the Marcus Crooked Creek Baptist Church, Pendleton County. Her husband, Caleb Alford, preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons, Kenneth Alford, Manuel Alford, and Mike Alford, all of Berry; a brother, John Barrett of Hamilton, Ohio; sisters, Marie Conner of Hamilton, Ohio, and Josie Estes of Nashville, Tenn.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Indian Creek Cemetery, Booneville.
Norma Josephine Seiler Averbeck, 95, of Covington, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth North Hospice, Covington.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul Church, Florence. Her husband, Robert Francis Averbeck, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Terry Averbeck of Edgewood; a daughter, Sr. Mary Judith Averbeck, S.N.D., of Park Hills; a sister, Caroline Rettig of Cincinnati; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Charles Care Center, Covington. Visitation will begin there at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.

Estelline Bogie, 95, of Taylor Mill, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
She was a homemaker and a member of Ashland Avenue Baptist Church, Latonia. Her husband, William V. Bogie, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Bill Bogie of Scottsdale, Ariz.; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Taylor Mill.
Robert B. Boschert, 75, of Alexandria, died Thursday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.
He was a retired carpenter for Union Local No. 698, Latonia.
Survivors include his wife, Florence E. Boschert; sons, John Boschert of Johnsville, Kenny Boschert, Tommy Boschert, and Tony Boschert, all of Alexandria, and Raymond Boschert of Crittenden; daughters, Carol Cromer and Robin Jump, both of Alexandria; brothers, Rev. Joseph Boschert of California and Paul Boschert of Newport; sisters, Bernice Braun of Southgate, Margie Kehoe of Fort Thomas, and Mary Ann McGrath of Cold Spring; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Alexandria. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Alexandria Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas.

Helen June Carver, 80, of Alexandria, died Thursday at Highlands of Fort Thomas.
She was a homemaker and a member of Community Pentecostal Church, Independence.
Survivors include sons, Tim Carver of Alexandria and David Carver of Portland, Ore.; daughters, Heide Clark of Grants Pass, Ore., and Jeanette Harrell of Somerset; and 11 grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. March 14 at Hull and Hull Funeral Home, Grants Pass, Ore. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. March 14.

Mabel Wood Ferrell, 93, of Latonia, died Thursday at Villaspring of Erlanger Health Care and Rehabilitation Center.
She was a retired employee from Johnny's Toys, Latonia, and a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Latonia. Her husband, Carl "Pud" Ferrell, and her son, Joseph Carl Ferrell, preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughters, Mabel A. Kelley of Latonia and Nancy Ferrell Stafford of Edgewood; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Irvin L. Heyniger, 97, of Crestview Hills, died Wednesday at Florence Park Care Center.
He was a retired purchasing agent, an attorney in Sterling Heights, Mich., and a member of the Michigan Bar Association.
Survivors include a son, Frank Heyniger of Plymouth, Mich.; a daughter, Irene Nichols of Crestview Hills; and four grandchildren.
Services and visitation arrangements are pending at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Northern Kentucky Crematory, Walton, is handling the cremation. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Covington.
Patricia Chatten Kabitsch, 54, of Park Hills, died Wednesday at Hospice of Cincinnati.
She was a database coordinator for AC Nielsen Bases, Covington. A son, Nicholas Wartman, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Carl Kabitsch; sons, Sean Wartman of Cincinnati and Todd Wartman of Union; sisters, Beatrice Davis of Menifee, Calif., and Barbara Gladson of Taylor Mill; and two grandchildren.
Memorial Mass will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at St. Agnes Church, Fort Wright. There is no visitation. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.

Henry R. McKay, 85, of Cold Spring, died Thursday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, participating in the D-Day invasion.
Survivors include his wife, Agnes McKay; sons, Robert H. McKay of Winston-Salem, N.C., Dennis J. McKay of Salem, Ore., and Roy T. McKay of Cold Spring.
Graveside services will be at 12:30 p.m. Monday at Camp Nelson National Cemetery, Nicholasville. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Fares J. Radel Funeral Home, Cold Spring.
Jesse Paul Marsh, 89, of Mount Olivet, died Thursday at Robertson County Health Care Facility.
He was a retired farmer, and a member of Kentontown Christian Church, Mount Olivet, and Masonic Lodge No. 291. His wife, Katherine McCord Marsh, and a son, Larry Paul Marsh, preceded him in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Carole Guthrie of Mount Olivet; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Joean Sapp, 63, of Dayton, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth North Hospice, Covington. She was a retired packer from Impact Graphics, Edgewood.
A daughter, Christine Sapp, preceded her in death.
Survivors include Edward Sapp, Sr.; a son, Edward Sapp, Jr., of Dayton; daughters, Linda Hahn, Necole Eddy, and Kimberly Wysong, all of Dayton; a brother, Frank Hahn of Dayton; a sister, Shirley Wood of Dayton; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Bellevue. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Alexandria Cemetery.
Estelle Lucille Deglow Schroth, 84, of Crescent Springs, died Friday at St. Elizabeth North Hospice, Covington.
She was a retired lead tax examiner at the IRS, Covington, and a deacon, choir member, and former treasurer of Crescent Springs Presbyterian Church. Her husband, Clyde Schroth, preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons, Bruce Schroth and Jack Schroth, both of Crescent Springs, and Gary Schroth of Fort Wright; a daughter, Janet Stadtmiller of Crescent Springs; brothers, Billy Deglow of England, Charles Deglow of Demossville, and Ray Deglow of Burlington; a sister, Natalie Linneman of Villa Hills; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. March 12 at Crescent Springs Presbyterian Church. Fares J. Radel Funeral Home is handling the cremation arrangements.
Clarence Vernon Sprecker, 86, of Covington, died Thursday. He was a railroad laborer and a Navy veteran.
Survivors include nephews, Derek Sprecker, James Sprecker, and Greg Sprecker, all of Covington; and nieces, Joyce Profit of Newport and Christina Nicole Stull of Covington.
Services will be at the convenience of the family.
