Phillip "Jerry' Greeson, GE designer
Phillip "Jerry" Greeson picked up technical and musical skills easily.
"He was very good at just picking up things. He was a quick learner, " said his daughter, Michele Greeson Hughes of Florence.
Mr. Greeson, 57, of Erlanger, died Saturday morning in the St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington.
He was a engineering designer with General Electric, Cincinnati, until taking a disability retirement a year ago, Mrs. Hughes said. A native of Dayton, Mr. Greeson worked for General Electric for years, and the firm sent him to the University of Cincinnati for aeronautical technical training, his daughter said.
"With training in the armed forces and his schooling at UC he had the equivalent of a college degree, " Mrs. Hughes said.
Mr. Greeson also picked up the guitar on his own, and played at church meetings, she said.
Mr. Greeson was a member of Vineyard Fellowship Church, Florence. He couldn't attend services in recent months because of his health, Mrs. Hughes said, but members of the church visited with him often. "The people are wonderful there, " she said.
An Army veteran in the years before Vietnam, Mr. Greeson also coached Knothole Baseball for a time, Mrs. Hughes said. "My husband, Joe, coached, and my father would laugh at the stories he told, " she said.
Other survivors include his wife, C. Marie Napier Greeson; his mother, Margaret Greeson McCoy of Dayton; a sister, Linda McCoy Gifford of Dayton; brothers, Larry LaCally of Alexandria, and Mike McCoy of Bellevue, and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.

Emma Tripp Baird, 91, of Hurst, Texas, formerly of Covington, died Friday at H. E. B. Hospital in Hurst. Arrangements are pending at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia.
Everett Joseph Craven Jr., 65, of Latonia, died at 3:40 p.m. Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. Arrangements are pending at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia.
Charles Ray Dawson Sr., 68, of Newport, died at 2:30 a.m. Sunday at his home. He was a retired Realtor with Century 21, and salesman with Riverside Ford, Newport. He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Emma L. Farris Dawson; sons, Charles R. Dawson Jr., Patrick M. Dawson and Anthony P. Dawson, all of Newport; a daughter, Diana L. Tester of Newport; brothers, Julius Dawson Jr. and James L. Dawson, both of Lorain, Ohio; sisters, Mary Alice Fuleki of Lorain, Charline Gill and Doris Ann Clifford, both of New Richmond, Ohio; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Entombment will be in Floral Hills Mausoleum, Taylor Mill. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Northern Kentucky, 1419 Alexandria Pike, Ft. Thomas 41075.
Lucille Dews, 89, of Owenton, died Saturday at Kings Daughters Hospital in Madison, Ind. She was a homemaker and a member of Richland Baptist Church, Owenton.
Survivors include a son, Harry Dews of Madison, Ind.; a brother, Frank Mason of Taylor Mill; a sister, Viola Cox of Florence; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at McDonald Funeral Home, Seminary Street, Owenton. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Owenton. Memorials are suggested to the church.
Raymond "Sonny" Dickson, 63, of Maysville, died Saturday at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington. He was a machine operator with U.S. Shoe in Ripley, Ohio, and an Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Dickson; sons, Jerry Dickson and Terry Dickson, both of Flemingsburg; a daughter, Patty O'Bannon of Flemingsburg; stepsons, Mark Poe of Clarksville, Tenn., Michael Poe of Maysville and Terry Poe of Harveysburg, Ohio; sisters, Dorothy Armstrong, Penny Rice and Barbara Beckett, all of Maysville, and Betty Medley of Carlisle; a brother, Douglas Dickson of Marion, Ind.; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Brell and Son Funeral Home, Maysville. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Maysville Cemetery.
Mary Rose Duncan, 52, of Latonia, died at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. She was a medical assistant in the offices of Dr. Alvin Poweleit, Covington, and Dr. A. C. Poweleit, Lakeside Park. She was a member of Holy Cross Church, Latonia.
Survivors include sons, Christopher Duncan of Seattle and Shae Duncan of Bellingham, Wash.; a daughter, Bridgette Mills of Cincinnati; brothers, Marty Drees of Ft. Thomas, Denny Drees of Florence, Norbert Drees of Dayton, Ohio, and Michael Drees of Latonia; sisters, Diane DeMoss of Latonia and Catherine Dibello of Covington; and two grandchildren.

Norman W. Ehlinger, 71, of Elsmere, died Friday at his home. He was a retired materials handler with Ford Motor Co., Cincinnati, and a member of Ralph Fulton VFW Post No. 6423, Elsmere.
Survivors include sons, James Ehlinger and Ken Ehlinger, both of Glencoe, George Ehlinger and Don Ehlinger, both of Elsmere, Michael Ehlinger of Florence, Greg Ehlinger of Corona, Calif., and Bob Ehlinger of Burlington; daughters, Debbie Collins of Rising Sun, Ind., Connie Miller of Elsmere and Judy Bailey of Union; a sister, Loretta Dietzer of Florence; 20 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Ruth R. Furnish, 87, of Covington, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North in Covington. She was a homemaker and a member of St. John Congregational Church, Covington. She was a member of the church choir and Rosebud Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, Covington. Her husband, Louis Furnish, died in 1979.
Survivors include two nephews.

Anna Mae Darnell Geiman, 75, of Newport, died Saturday at St. Luke Hospital East, Ft. Thomas. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Therese Church, Southgate, where she was a member of the Altar Society. Her husband, Andrew Geiman, died in 1977.
Survivors include daughters, Kathleen Emerson of Union Township, Ohio, Sylvia Lonneman of Delhi, Ohio, JoAnn Bradhold of Erlanger, June Geiman-Stephenson of Ft. Mitchell and Judy "Heidi" Thiem of Cold Spring; sons, Jim Geiman and Ken Geiman, both of Cold Spring, Tim Geiman of Independence and Keith Geiman of Ft. Thomas; a sister, Dorothy Walsh of Ft. Thomas; 27 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Vernon Michael Haigis, 46, of Newport, died Friday at St. Luke Hospital East, Ft. Thomas. He was a coordinator with Buschman Conveyor Co., Cincinnati.

Juanita Golden James, 70, of Covington, died Wednesday at her home. She was a retired factory worker with Plastic and Molding Co., Cincinnati.
Survivors include sons, Jerry James of Livermore, Calif., and Robert James of Salisbury, N.C.; a daughter, Linda Gayle Brooks of Salisbury, N.C.; a brother, Jesse Gatliff of Cleves, Ohio; sisters, Nora Lankford of Latonia, Gladys Curtis of Lexington, Ida Cundiff of Harlan and Elizabeth Messer of Hampton, Tenn.; nine grandchildren and seven great-

Martin J. Lenen, 93, of Erlanger, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. He was a retired salesman with Suburban Chevrolet.

Arthur T. "Tee" Poetter, 78, of Covington, died at 11:15 p.m. Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a retired self-employed floor contractor and a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church, Kenton County. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille E. Mardis Poetter; daughters, Beverly Hopkins of Florence, Candy Lytle of Taylor Mill and Sandy Leen of Independence; a brother, Chester Poetter of Florence; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

James Slaughter, 84, of Newport, died Sunday at Providence Hospital, Cincinnati.

Gerald V. Weigle, 80, of Cincinnati, formerly of Ft. Thomas, died Friday at Dupree Community in Cincinnati. He was a retired senior vice president of First National Bank of Cincinnati and an attorney. He was a member of American Bankers Association, where he served on the Executive Committee. He was Chairman of the Advisory Committee of the Salvation Army and an overseer of Thomas More College. He was active in United Appeal fund-raising and the Cincinnati Rotary Club. He was a World War II veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Weigle; and sons, Gerald V. Weigle Jr. and Douglas S. Weigle, both of Cincinnati.
