MR. RAY ROBERTSON, 90, of Genoa, W.Va., Burial will follow in Maple Hills death are two sisters, Ethyl Cyrus and Georgia Crabtree; six brothers, Taylor Robertson, Enoch Robertson, Thelmar Robertson, James Robertson, John Robertson, and Luther Robertson; and one son-in-law, William G. Shirley.
Ray served in the US Army in the 82nd Air Division during WWII, and was awarded a Purple Heart. He was a lifelong member of the DAV, an Ordained Deacon and Sunday School teacher.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Gladys Parsons Robertson of Genoa, W.Va.; two daughters, Wanda Hewlett and her husband Willie of North Carolina, and Wilma Shirley of Kenova, W.Va.; one son, Larry Robertson of Kenova, W.Va.; two brothers, Oral Robertson of Cleveland, OH, and Charles Robertson and his wife Florida of Ft. Gay, W.Va.; special sister and brother-in-law, Zee and Jim Nolan and their family of Genoa, W.Va.; three grandchildren, Rhonda and Sherry of North Carolina, and Garland Ray of Alabama; and a host of friends and family. CHARLIE ADKINS, 71, of Prichard, W.Va., Burial will follow in the Cox death along with four brothers, Frank Adkins, Lyisha Adkins, Winchester "Checker" Adkins, and Henderson Adkins, and one daughter, Karen Sue Clark.
Survivors include one brother, Harley Adkins and his wife Elizabeth of Ceredo, W.Va; two sisters, Cora Reed of Huntington, W.Va., and Clara Caldwell of Kenova, W.Va; five sons, David Adkins and his wife Kathleen of Wayne, W.Va., William Adkins and his wife Evelyn, Harmon Adkins and his wife Patty, Wayne Adkins and his wife Lisa, and Charlie Boy Adkins all of Prichard, W.Va.; three daughters, Martha Jane Adkins of Huntington, W.Va., Amber Adkins of Ranger, W.Va., and Joyce Adkins of Huntington, W.Va.; fourteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of friends and family. Charlie was a loving father, grandfather, and brother, and will be sadly missed. The family would like to thank Hospice for their special care. MARK ALLEN BYRD, 49, of Huntington, W.Va., death. Survivors include four daughters, Deidra Salmon and her husband Kurt of Gloucester, VA, Courtney Cunningham and her husband Scott of Charlotte, NC, Leslie Byrd of Newport News, VA, and Sarah Byrd of Chesapeake, OH; one sister, Kay Ross of South Point, OH; three brothers, Rick Byrd and his wife Paula of Huntington, W.Va., David Byrd and his wife Nancy of Gloucester, VA, and Steve Byrd of Huntington, W.Va.; grandchildren, Nevaeh Byrd of Newport News, VA, Mia Cunningham of Charlotte, NC, Gregory Salmon, Kaylee Salmon, and Toby Salmon, all of Gloucester, VA; and a host of friends and family.
BARBARA JEAN ROSS, 75, of Wayne, W.Va., Burial will follow in preceded in death was her second husband, Alfred Adkins, with whom she was blessed with two daughters and another son who survive: Augusta Davis and her two daughters, Krystal Adkins and Danielle Davis, all of Wayne, W.Va., Nancy Bryan and her husband Roger and their son Frank Bradshaw Jr., all of Wayne, W.Va., and Darrell Adkins and his wife Delores Jane of Huntington, W.Va. Also surviving are two great grandchildren, Frances Payne and Jesse Bradshaw, both of Wayne; one sister, Nancy Stevens and her husband Dave of Parkersburg, W.Va.; and a host of friends and family. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice of Huntington for all their loving care. Friends may call Sunday evening after 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
