Mr. Jones retired in 1965 as a nursing assistant after 32 years at the Veterans Administration Medical Center. An Army veteran of World War II, he served with the Coastal Artillery Corps at Fort Monroe.
Survived by a sister, Maude Wells of Nortan; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Mildred Carroll of Hampton.
Visitation from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home. Graveside service 10 a.m. Monday in Veterans Memorial Gardens by Chaplain Miles Murphy Jr.
