Louise Cordell

Thelma “Louise” Cordell, 86-year-old Sherman resident, Interment will follow at Friendship born on January 4, 1923, in Sadler to Floyd and Mary Larkin. She graduated from Sadler High School in 1939. On May 11, 1941 she married for 58 years before his death by her husband Harry, son Tommy, parents Floyd and Mary Larkin and brother Jay Larkin. She is survived by one son Terry Cordell; grandsons Brian Cordell and fiancé Dawn, Michael and Eric; great granddaughter Brooklynn Cordell and five other great-grandchildren Christopher, Morgan, Jordan, Chazz and Gabriel. She is also survived by her sister Helen Janese, as well as daughter-in-law and caregiver Carol Baxley.
Pallbearers will be Bill Jennings, Jackie Harmon, Eddie Payne, Robert White, Roger Thompson and Christopher Tolley.

Hugh Campbell

Hugh Wilburn Campbell Interment will follow at West Hill born March 5, 1923, in Sherman, Texas, the eldest child of Hugh and Maud Blackwell Campbell. The family briefly lived in Pueblo, Colorado, before returning to Sherman to rear six children. From age seven to nineteen, Hugh lived with his family in the farm home of Woodman Circle Home where his father was the farm manager, in charge of the production of food, animals, acreage, and buildings for the operation from its initial building stage. Hugh graduated from Sherman High School in 1940, riding the bus to Sherman schools with his siblings and the orphaned children of the Home who were his extended family. He and his family were important not only to the operation of the Home but to the widows and children who resided there.
Upon graduation Hugh worked for the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers in an administrative capacity during the construction of Perrin Air Force Base and later Camp Maxey and Cox Field in Paris. He joined the Army Air Corps in 1943 and served in the European theatre flying the C-47. He was assigned to the 73rd Squadron, 434th Troop Carrier Group, 9th Air Force towing gliders into German territory after having been trained in the CGA Waco Combat Glider. He and his plane ferried troops, supplies, and tanks to Patton’s Army at the front. He participated in Operation Market Garden, the battles at Arnhem and Bastogne, flying off of an airstrip near Reims, France, that had been temporarily constructed to support the airborne missions.
Coming home, following his military service, he met Nelda Forrest on Wall Street in Sherman. His children believe he must have had his uniform on because she consented to marriage after five happy months. They death by his parents, Hugh and Maud Blackwell Campbell; his brother, Jack M. Campbell; and sister, Helen Campbell Allison.
He is survived by his wife, Nelda Forrest Campbell of Sherman; son Ronald Hugh Campbell and wife, Jeri, of Austin; daughter Sarah Campbell Stevens of Sherman; grandson Kendall Brent Campbell and wife, Susan, of Round Rock; granddaughters Sally Stevens Humphrey and husband, John, of Gainesville, Florida, and Susannah Stevens Barton and husband, Kevin, of Buffalo, New York; great grandchildren Isaiah Zachary Campbell and John David Campbell of Round Rock, Campbell Elizabeth Humphrey and Thomas Andrew Humphrey, of Gainesville, Florida; sisters Genelle Campbell of Sherman, Betty Vinson and husband, Ray, of Conroe, and Carol Newsom and husband, Don, of McKinney; and many loved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Pallbearers for Mr. Campbell will be Clyde Hall, Brent Campbell,, Tom Stevens, Welby Pleasant, Curry Vogelsang, Troy Jaco, Dr. John Brakebill and Wally Black; honorary pallbearers will be Cam Gillespie and Jack Jackson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Covenant Presbyterian Memorial Fund in Sherman, Texas or Austin College, 900 North Grand Avenue, Sherman, Texas.
Margaret Redshaw

Margaret Annabel Lee Redshaw, 87, born August 18, 1921, in Beardstown to Walter Harrison Lee and Maude Mooney Lee. She grew up in Beardstown and graduated from High School on May 31, 1940. She death in 1995. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
During World War II, while her husband served in the Air Force, Mrs. Redshaw worked at the munitions plant in Jacksonsville, IL, and at a grocery store in Beardstown.
After the family moved to Quincy, Illinois, in 1954, Margaret remained at home and raised her two children, Peggy and Steve. She was active as a Brownie leader, Cub Scout leader, and in the PTA. She and her husband were both coaches in Little League Baseball. The family enjoyed hundreds of Minor League baseball games while living in Quincy.
Margaret was also a great Chicago Cubs fan and had her favorite players that she rooted for. She enjoyed watching the games with her husband before his death by her husband, parents, two sisters, Beulah Hart and Mildred Brown and two brothers, Robert Lee and Albert Lee.
Survivors include daughter, Peggy Redshaw and husband Jerry Lincecum of Sherman; son, Steve Redshaw and wife Mary of Springfield, Illinois; Granddaughter, Amy Redshaw of Springfield, Illinois. Step-granddaughters Amber and Kristin Murduck of Springfield, Illinois, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Joe Don Bays

Joe Don Bays, 59-year-old Sherman resident, born June 20, 1949, in Dallas, to Joe H. and Dorothy Wright Bays. He was educated in the public schools. He served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He was employed for several years as an electrician and in later years he was employed at the Lake Kiowa Golf Course.
Preceded in passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2009, at WNJ Medical Center. Arrangements are under the direction of Dannel Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held Saturday, February 21, at Akers born April 17, 1945, in Sherman, to Charles and Ernestine Cole Thompson. He was educated in the public schools. He was a member of the Ethel Church of Christ.
Preceded in passed away unexpectedly At his home on Monday, February 9, 2009 will be held on Friday, February 13, 2009 at 3:30 p.m. at Dannel Funeral Home. LaRon Branson and Scott Potter will officiate. He will be laid to rest on Saturday, February 14, 2009 at Post Oak born August 6, 1992 in Granbury, Texas, the son of John S. Shook and Rhonda Mitchell Rodriguez. He was an exemplary student at Sherman High School and involved in the choir, theater arts and Interact.
Dylan was a wonderful, sweet and caring young man who would go the extra mile for
His friends and family. He will be missed dearly by all those who loved him and knew him and will never be forgotten.
Dylan is survived by his parents Rhonda and Mike Rodriguez of Sherman and Steve Shook of Fort Worth, Texas; sister and brother-in-law Rachel and Bobby Beal of Denison, sister Michelle Rodriguez of Fort Worth, brother Anthony Rodriguez of Oklahoma; sister and brother-in-law Julia and Joel Turnbow of Fort Worth, Grandparents Paulene and Kenny Price of Granbury, Texas; grandfather Herb Shook of Hurst, Texas, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Dylan was preceded in death by his grandfather Glenn Mitchell, uncle Daryl Mitchell and grandmother Mary Shook.
