John Glenn Coffey

John Glenn Coffey, 79 of Sherman, born in Creelsboro, Kentucky on June 22, 1927 to John and Dora Coffey. The family relocated to Revina when Glenn was very young.

He graduated from Bonham High School in 1944 and joined the Merchant Marines. He left the service in 1946 following a hand injury.

Glenn met his future wife, Katie Dixon in 1946 through his brother and sister-in-law, James and Christine Coffey.

The following year he began work in the mailroom at Quaker Oats in Sherman.

Glenn and Katie were born. Promotions with Quaker sent the family to San Antonio and Nacogdoches where the second child Steve was born in 1959. Glenn stayed with Quaker Oats for 27 years including 12 years in Cuero, TX and 1 in Mendota, IL.

In 1976 Glenn and Katie owned and operated a Western Auto store in McKenzie, TN for 5 years. Striving to return to Texas, he became Operations Director at a mall in Brownsville, TX for 3 years, then in Hurst, TX for 7 years.

They then retired to their hometown of Sherman in 1992, where they lived on a small farm while Glenn drove a school bus for Sherman I. S. D.

Glenn was an honest hard working man. A true gentleman in every sense of the word. A proud husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved the outdoors, and left a lasting impression on the world by planting trees in every location they lived.

As a member of Crutchfield Baptist Church, Glenn loved to sing in the choir.

Glenn and Katie were Cemetery in Sherman. The service will be officiated by Reverends Billy Hackler and Olan Bullard.

Pallbearers for Glenn will be: Bobby Cook, Jeff Prescott, Pete Bicart, Theril Williams, Mike Coffey and Greg Stout.

If desired memorials may be made to Crutchfield Heights Baptist Church, 600 Dewey Street, Sherman, TX 75090, Alzheimer’s Assoc of Greater Dallas, 7610 N. Stemmons Fwy Ste 600, Dallas, TX 75247-9952 or American Cancer Society, Grayson County Unit, PO Box 735, Sherman, TX 75090-0735.

Glenn always had a special sparkle in his eyes for his family. He loved life, laughter, singing, a good game of 42 and a BIG, little dog named Snoopy!

Hazel Martin Brown

Hazel Martin Brown, 95, Born in Dorchester, January 29, 1911, to George D. and Sarah Braswell Clark, Mrs. Brown attended Plainview and Pleasant Valley Schools. In 1926, she death.

In 1959, Hazel death by her parents, husbands; brothers: Andrew, Bill, Virgil, Jake, Charlie and Travis Clark; sisters, Gladys Prichard, Ruby Osborne and Lois Ewing; daughter, Hazel Lee Martin and grandson, Eric C. Little, II.

Pallbearers will be Mrs. Brown’s grandsons and grandsons’-in-law.

Memorials may be made to Eric C. Little, II Criminal Justice Scholarship Fund at Stephen F. Austin University, PO Box 6096, Nacogdoches, Texas 75962.

Betty G. Walker

Betty Geneva Walker, 88, formerly of Sherman born on May 15, 1918 in Celeste, Texas the daughter of Reno A. White and Myrtle Smalley White.

She worked in California for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft during World War II as aircraft assembler. She also worked for Love Knit Manufacturing and Pools as a seamstress.

On April 25, 1943 she death by her parents, R. A. White and her mother Myrtle Smalley White, brothers: Floyd White, Homer White, Wayland White and R. A. White, Jr., sisters: Audra Davis, Mildred Cairl and Evelyn Cathey

She is survived by her husband: Hillard Walker of Georgetown, SC; daughter: Betty Kennedy and her husband George of Georgetown, SC; son: Ronnie Walker and his wife Pam of Huntington Beach, California; sisters: Mrs. Thelma Carman of Lawton, OK; Mrs. Ann Record of Greenville, TX;

Mrs. Mae Burns of Greenville, TX; Mrs. Dorothy Borchardt of Ruidoso, NM., 2 grandchildren: Steven Walker and Holly Walker of Huntington Beach, California.

A memorial service will be planned at a later date.

Thelma C. Lindsey

Thelma Lindsey, 79, of Morrisonville born on September 20, 1926 in Emory, Texas the daughter of William and Rosa Lee Sparks.

She is survived by her son: Britton and wife robyn of Morrisonville, NY; two granddaughters: Leigha and Brittany; her brother: Carl Sparks of Kansas and her sister: Velma Holley of North Carolina; several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, September 25, 2006 at 2:00PM at Akers Cemetery in Sherman.
