Josephine Mussman Forsee, put energy in family, politics
Josephine Mussman Forsee took her religion and her politics seriously. The granddaughter of a Methodist minister, Mrs. Forsee raised two ministers and a mayor.
Mrs. Forsee, 96, of Newport, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington.
Mrs. Forsee spent countless years campaigning for Democratic politicians and working polls on election days.
"She did some electioneering, handing out literature, trying to influence individuals, " said son Robert Mussman, of Newport.
Her hard work paid off in accolades. She was 1955 Campbell County Woman of the Year and 1961 Disabled American Veterans Woman of the Year. She was a former Honorary Clerk of the Court of Appeals of Kentucky and a Kentucky Colonel.
Mrs. Forsee worked at the old Rollman's Department Store in downtown Cincinnati, earning the nickname "Radio" for her gift of gab, Mussman said.
She had to stop working the polls when her son, Ralph Mussman Jr., ran for Newport commission. He won, and went on to become Newport mayor. He died in 1987.
"She was unusual, I think, in being so active so long, " Mussman said.
Her first husband, Ralph Mussman Sr., died in 1944. Her second husband, George William Forsee, died in 1977.
She leaves another son, James Mussman of Tiffin, Ohio; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Grace United Methodist Church, Newport. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.

Leopoldine V. Glodowski, 83, of Cold Spring, died at 4:15 a.m. March 30 at St. Luke Hospital East, Ft. Thomas. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Thomas Z. Glodowski, died in 1979.
Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn M. Glodowski of Cold Spring; a son, Leon C. Glodowski of Howell, Mich.; sisters, Jean Smith of St. Clair, Mich.; half-sisters, Patricia Romanek of Westland, Mich., and Lori Wangro of Phoenix; and one grandchild.
Services were this morning at Assumption Grotto Church in Detroit. Burial was in Mt. Olivet cemetery in Detroit. Dobbling Funeral Home, Ft. Thomas, is handling arrangements.
Clara B. Porter Kennedy, 94, of Cincinnati, formerly of Covington, died at 1:50 a.m. Wednesday at Wesley Hall Home in Cincinnati. She was a housekeeper in several private residences and a member of First Christian Church, Covington.
Survivors include a son, Mel Kennedy of Cincinnati; 11 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to the nursing home, 315 Lilienthal St., Cincinnati, Ohio, 45204, or the church, 14 W. Fifth St., Covington, Ky., 41011.
Sean Jacob Mount, was stillborn Monday at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati.
Survivors include his parents, Todd A. and Crystal McDonald Mount of Jonesville; a brother, Todd A. Mount Jr. at home; a sister, Amanda Jayne Mount at home; paternal grandparents, Theodore and Lola Mount of Jonesville; maternal grandparents, Don and Lucy McDonald of Cincinnati; paternal great-grandmother, Melba Mount of Cincinnati; and a maternal great-grandmother, Mary Mitchell of Cincinnati.
Services will be at the convenience of the family. Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown.
Charlenea Marie Vickers, 22, of Corinth, died at 4:15 a.m. Wednesday in Williamstown of injuries suffered in an automobile accident. She was a nursing assistant at Grant Manor Nursing Home, Williamstown.
Survivors include her husband, Donnie Vickers; a daughter, Brittney Vickers of Corinth; a brother, Robbie Stegemoeller of Corinth; sisters, Diana Stegemoeller, Shayla Stegemoeller and Julie Stegemoeller, all of Florence, and Leslie Stegemoeller of Ludlow; and her grandparents, Daniel and Florence Humphrey, and Don and Martha Stegemoeller.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Rogers Funeral Home, Corinth. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Corinth.
