Bromley's Dorothy Pierce served with city, church
With a family firmly rooted in Bromley, Dorothy Pierce spent most of her life in the city, involved in church activities and even serving a stint as city treasurer.
Mrs. Pierce, 79, died Thursday at St. Luke Hospital West in Florence.
She was raised in a house in Bromley built by her father.
A son, Charles Pierce, who was born and raised in the same house, now owns it. He purchased the house from his mother when his father, Charles Pierce Sr., died in 1965.
His father had served as a city councilman and his mother as city treasurer in the 1960s.
"She was liked by everybody, " the son said. "She knew everybody. They had a lot of friends down here. They were just part of the town."
She also was a past president of the Bromley School PTA and had retired as a securities employee for First National Bank, Cincinnati.
As a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Bromley, she sang in the choir.
Mrs. Pierce went to live with her father in Florence after her husband and mother died.
Until recently, she had stayed active bowling and playing cards, her son said.
Other survivors include son, Tom Pierce of Mays Landing, N.J.; a daughter, Peggy Hyndman of Somerdale, N.J.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Saturday.
Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.

Louise Marie Roller Aulick, 103, died Thursday at her home. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Henry E. Aulick, died in 1941.
Survivors include daughters, Anna Louise Reynolds of El Portal, Calif., and Jane Bentle of Falmouth; a son, Robert Henry Aulick of Falmouth; a stepdaughter, Dorothy Kimble of El Portal, Calif.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Peoples Funeral Home, Butler. Visitation will begin there at noon Monday. Burial will be in Laurel Cemetery, Cincinnati. Memorials are suggested to Red Cloud Indian School, Pine Ridge, S.D., 57770, the Salvation Army, or the charity of the donor's choice.
Fran Brewsaugh, 71, of Carrollton, died at 6:15 a.m. Thursday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. She was a retired secretary with General Electric, Cincinnati.
Survivors include her husband, John Brewsaugh; sons, Jay Brewsaugh of Lebanon, Ohio, and Dale Brewsaugh of Reading, Ohio; brothers, Robert Laile of Cincinnati and Marvin Laile of Blanchester, Ohio; a sister, Dorothy Hambrick of Florence; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.
Arthur Charles Bringard, 42, of Sunrise, died Tuesday at University Medical Center, Lexington. He was a welder.
Survivors include his wife, Tamie Jo Bringard; his father, Tom Bringard of Michigan; a sister, Barbara Ehrlich of Fairfield, Ohio; and brothers, Rick Stoutenburg, Dave Stoutenburg, Steve Stoutenburg, Doug Stoutenburg, Jerry Stoutenburg, Paul Stoutenburg and Patrick Stoutenburg.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Ware Funeral Home, Cynthiana. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunrise Cemetery.
Sister Rose Marguerite Cardin, C.D.P., 93, of Melbourne, died Wednesday at Holy Family Home in Melbourne. She was an elementary school teacher and principal in Rhode Island, Maryland, Kentucky and Ohio schools.
Survivors include a sister, Loretta Laferriere of Holyoke, Mass.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 4 p.m. today at St. Anne Convent Chapel, Melbourne. Visitation will begin there at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be in St. Anne Convent Cemetery, Melbourne. Memorials are suggested to Sisters of Divine Providence, Highway 8, Melbourne, Ky., 41059.
Mark Allen Chaney, 33, of Covington, died Tuesday at University Hospital, Cincinnati. He was a landscaper.
Survivors include sons, Ronald Crim, Matthew Hubbard, Antonio Hutsell and Martenz Chaney, all of Covington, and Mark Webster of Florence; daughters, Martina Webster of Florence, Claire Doyle of Lexington, Kasi Keating and Chasity Chaney, both of Covington; his father, A. D. Chaney of Covington; half-brothers, James Cavitt Jr., William Cavitt, Randy Chaney and Larry Chaney, all of Covington, William Chaney Jr. of Newport and Bruce Chaney of New York City; and half-sisters, Barbara Reeves, Connie Welch and Gina Thomas, all of Newport, Loretha Chaney and Nan Chaney, both of Covington, and Inez Dillingham of Cincinnati.
Services will be at noon Saturday at United Community Christian Church, Covington. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Linden Grove Cemetery, Covington. Jones and Simpson Funeral Home, Covington, is handling arrangements.
Donald R. Corbin, 65, of Park Hills, died at 8:25 p.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. He was a retired Development Department employee of General Electric, Cincinnati, and a charter member of Dutchman Rod and Gu n Club, Hebron. He was a member of Unity Center Church, Cincinnati and a Korean War veteran.
Survivors include his wife, LaVerne Lee Corbin; a daughter, Patricia Ann Bresch of Covington; a stepdaughter, Carleen Teeters of Loveland, Ohio; a sister, Loraine Sullivan of Ft. Mitchell; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Blanche Clifton Jones, 84, of Corinth, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center Grant County, Williamstown. She was a homemaker and a member of New Columbus Methodist Church, Owen County.
Survivors include sons, Ronald Jones of Corinth and Clifford Jones of Frankfort; a daughter, Brenda Leach of Berry; a sister, Zelma Mae Clifton of Norwood, Ohio; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

John Martin, 73, of Corinth, died today at his home. Arrangements are pending at Rogers Funeral Home, Corinth.
Martha Ruth Maze, 72, of Independence, died at 4:15 p.m. April 4 at her home. She was a landlord and a member of Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Cincinnati. Her husband, Donald Maze, died in 1972.
Survivors include daughters, Penny Miklaucic of Willoughby, Ohio, and Kelly Cain of Independence; a son, Paul Maze of Mentor, Ohio; and seven grandchildren.

Anna Lee Perrin, 56, of Newport, died Monday at Florence Park Care Center. She was a member of Second Baptist Church, Newport.
Survivors include sons, Troy A. Harris of Lima, Ohio, James E. Harris of Berlin, Germany, and Nelson E. Perrin Jr. of Newport; brothers, Charles Oldham, Christopher Rice and Bruce Oldham, all of Covington; sisters, Rosetta Oldham and Joan Dace, both of Cincinnati; and seven grandchildren.

Ruth G. Schultz-Rolf, 73, of Cold Spring, died Thursday at St. Luke Hospital East, Ft. Thomas. She was a nurse at the hospital and a member of St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring.
Survivors include daughters, Donna Schultz of Highland Heights, Mary McCarthy of Hagerhill and Nancy Kohrs of Bellevue; sons, Brother David Schultz, F.F.C. of Milwaukee and Joseph Schultz of Cold Spring; her mother, Emma Campbell of Louisville; brothers, Kenneth Campbell of Amelia, Ohio, R. C. Campbell of Brown County, Ohio, Leland Campbell of Bethel, Ohio, and Daniel Campbell of Franklin, Mass.; sisters, Hildreth Record of Amelia, Ohio, Dorothy Browning of St. Louis and Evelyn Gifford of Flemingsburg; and three grandchildren.
