Timothy Taylor II, devoted life to others
Timothy Scott Taylor II didn't live a long life but had a productive one in terms of helping other people.
Mr. Taylor, 29, a former Covington resident who once ran cross country track at Simon Kenton High School, dedicated himself to helping the homeless, teaching children in Sunday school and spinning records at parties.
"He has always been a loving child, a loving person, " said Mr. Taylor's father, also named Timothy Taylor, of Matthew, N.C.
"He was a free spirit. When he walked into a room, he would light up peoples' lives."
The younger Taylor, of Long Beach, Calif., died at 6:48 p.m. Sunday at his home after a brief illness. He was a salesman with Teachers' Supply Co. in Long Beach, and a member of Unity Church in Long Beach.
He was a Sunday School teacher at the church, and manager of the children's church services. He was a volunteer with Helping Hands Organization and several homeless shelters in Long Beach. He was a former member of Independence Christian Church, where he was a youth deacon.
The younger Taylor lived most of his life in Northern Kentucky before accepting a job with Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla. Mr. Taylor later transferred to Disneyland in California, where he developed his private disc jockey business.
Mr. Taylor appeared in a scene of the movie, "Rain Man, " that was filmed several years ago in Newport.
"He got to meet Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise, " the elder Taylor said.
"He has always helped the underdog and everyone he could. He would go out of his way to help people."
Mr. Taylor is also survived by his mother, Sandra Staggs Taylor, also of Matthew, N.C.; a brother, Matthew Sterling Taylor of Orlando, Fla.; and maternal grandparents, Lillian Bell and Sterling G. Staggs Sr. of Independence.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Independence Christian Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill, and 9 to 9:45 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.
Memorials are suggested to Independence Christian Church; First Christian Church in Dilworth, N.C.; or Helping Hands Organization in Long Beach, Calif.
Lyda Book Alexander Blackburn, 86, of Taylor Mill, died at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Charles Care Center in Covington. She was a retired seamstress.
Survivors include several cousins.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Charles Care Center. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Ft. Wright. Memorials are suggested to the nursing home, 500 Farrell Drive, Covington 41011. Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill, is handling arrangements.
George Harold Brown, 93, of Cincinnati, formerly of Ft. Thomas, died at 2:35 p.m. Wednesday at a hospice in Mariemont, Ohio. He was a retired supervisor with Cincinnati Milacron and an auto mechanic. He also was a charter member of Highland Hills Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School.
Survivors include his wife, Beulah M. Roberts Brown; a daughter, Joyce Leopold of Milford, Ohio; a son, James Harold Brown of Cincinnati; sisters, Ann Sears of Florence and Margaret Meehan of Cincinnati; five grandchildren and 12 great- grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Ft. Thomas. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Burlington Cemetery.
Elizabeth Jane Dieman, 77, of Covington, died Tuesday at her home.
Arrangements are pending at Don Catchen and Son Funeral Home, Covington.
Ruth A. Kemper, 73, of Alexandria, died at 10 p.m. Tuesday at University Hospital, Cincinnati. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Albert Kemper; daughters, Diana Kemper and Cindy Ripberger, both of Alexandria; a son, Steve Kemper of Alexandria; sisters, Edna Kienzle of Ft. Mitchell and Susan Macintosh of Cincinnati; a brother, Carl Schuchter of Alexandria; and six grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Church, Alexandria. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Ft. Thomas. Eugene Ralph Knoerl, 71, of Covington, died at 5 p.m. Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Ft. Thomas. He was an auto body repairman for several Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati car dealers. His wife, Dolores Decker, died in 1985.
Survivors include sons, Brian A. Knoerl and Brent Knoerl, both of Covington; daughters, Yvonne Caldwell of Covington and Shannon Mazie of Key West, Fla.; a brother, Russell Knoerl of Covington; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will begin there at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Cincinnati.
Cecil Bennett Nall, 92, of Owenton, died Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. He was a retired employee of Lorilard Tobacco Co. and a member of Richland Baptist Curch. His wife, J. T. Nall, died in 1975.
Survivors include daughters, Christine Winkle of Owenton and Justine Shell of Covington; sisters, Willena Wainscott of Vevay, Ind., and Allie Mae Mason of Owenton; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at McDonald Funeral Home, Main Street, Owenton. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Owenton. Memorials are suggested to the church.
Anthony Steven Oden, was stillborn May 2 at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence.
Survivors include his parents, Russell D. Oden and Kimberly L. Parker, both of Erlanger; maternal grandparents, Thomas and Barbara Parker of Indianapolis; paternal grandmother, Wanda Willis of Cincinnati; and maternal great-grandmother, Carrie Jackson of New York City.

Lillie Mae Roundtree Pate, 77, of Cincinnati, formerly of Newport, died Monday at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati.
She was a homemaker and a former member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church, Newport. Her husband, Arthur Pate Sr., died in 1990.
Survivors include a son, Arthur Pate Jr. of Cincinnati; a brother, Nathaniel Roundtree of Newport; and a sister, Estella Boswell of Newport.
Graveside services will be at 9:45 a.m. Saturday at Arlington Cemetery, Cincinnati. Visitation will begin there at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Entombment will be in Arlington Mausoleum.

Roy K. Pruitt, 68, of Camp Springs, died at 8:18 a.m. Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Ft. Thomas. He was an electrician with International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local No. 212, Cincinnati, and a former member of Camp Springs Fire Department. He also was a member of American Legion Post No. 219, Camp Springs.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Holley Pruitt of Camp Springs; daughters, Nancy Abbott of Dayton, Betty Pruitt of Southern, Neb., and Juanita Pruitt of Arizona; stepsons, Oliver Davidson of Foster, Larry Davidson of Cincinnati and Estill Davidson Jr. of Dayton; stepdaughters, Sherry Davidson of Newport, Patty Davidson of Dayton, Diana Geyer of Bellevue and Seattie Dailey of Edgewood; a brother, William Pruitt of Ft. Betty June Scott, 78, of Covington, died at 9 a.m. Tuesday at her home. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Patrick Church, Independence. She also was a member of Moose Lodge No. 1469.
Survivors include daughters, Pat Davis of Los Angeles and Peggy Peet of Ft. Mitchell; a son, Mike Scott of Covington; a brother, Bud Rust of Covington; a sister, Helen Lauderman of Independence; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Mabel Webster, 76, of Ft. Thomas, died at 5:21 a.m. Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital East in Ft. Thomas. She was a retired Avon district sales representative.
Survivors include sons, Jay Webster of Bristol, Ind., Wynn Webster of Ft. Thomas and John W. Webster of Indianapolis; a daughter, Jackie Ryden of Miami; a brother, Clyde Bivens of Garrison; and three grandchildren.

Imogene Gertrude Wood, 69, died Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Ft. Thomas. She was a retired employee of Gold Blatt Tools in Kansas City, Kan. Her husband, Truman B. Wood, died in 1994.
Survivors include a son, Jeff Wood of Melbourne; daughters, Barbara Norton of Coppell, Texas, and Brenda Mattingly of Melbourne; brothers, Howard Slawson and Clark Slawson, both of Waynesville, Mo.; and four grandchildren.

Sarah Elizabeth Zoz, 14, of Vevay, Ind., died Monday at Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg, Ind., after an extended illness. She was a freshman at Heritage Academy, Florence, where she was a member of the school choir and drama club. She attended St. Joseph Church, Warsaw, and was a winter guard volunteer with Gallatin County Chapter of American Cancer Society.
Survivors include her father and stepmother, Robert and Laura Zoz of Cincinnati; her mother and stepfather, Diane and Ronald Sloan of Vevay, Ind.; a half-brother, Eric Joseph Zoz of Cincinnati; a stepbrother, Ryan Michael Buchanan of Cincinnati; paternal grandfather, Raymond Joseph Zoz of Cincinnati; maternal grandparents, Howard and Janet Meece of Palm Harbor, Fla.; step-grandparents, Jerome and Patricia Lemmel of Cincinnati, Pete Sloan of Warsaw and Dorothy Gatewood of Tampa, Fla.; and paternal great-grandmother, Mamie Rooks of Cincinnati.
