Wilfred Bullock, funeral director
When it came to the funeral business, Wilfred E. "Shorty" Bullock was known as a consummate professional.
"His trademark was "the finest in service, ' and he lived up to it, " said Mr. Bullock's daughter, Beverly Gayle Reeves of Ft. Mitchell.
"He truly believed in service. He went further than what others might do. Service to families was his first consideration, " said Fred Erschell, who was both a friend and professional associate of Mr. Bullock.
Mr. Bullock, 72, of Crestview Hills, died Saturday at his home. Following in the footsteps of his father, Mr. Bullock spent 50 years in the funeral business, as a director with the Bullock Funeral Home, and later the Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Homes. He was active in numerous professional organizations, including the Northern District Kentucky Funeral Directors Association and the Kentucky Funeral Directors As sociation. He was a past president of the former organization, a past trustee of the Cincinnati Foundation for Funeral Service, and a former member of Kentucky Funeral Directors Burial Association Board of Directors.
"He was very active in continuing education for those in the funeral business. Both professionally and personally, I have the greatest admiration for the man, " said Erschell.
Mr. Bullock was a past governor and vice president of Ft. Mitchell Country Club and a past president of the Ludlow Businessmen's Association and the Ludlow Rotary Club. He was a past master and secretary of Unity Lodge F&AM No. 478, Ludlow, and a former member of the board of directors of Redwood School, Ft. Mitchell. He was a charter member of Hebron Lions Club and a past patron of Vashti Chapter No. 22 Order of the Eastern Star.
A Navy veteran of World War II, Mr. Bullock was a member of the Ludlow and Bromley Veterans of World War II.
He belonged to the Syrian Temple Shrine and Indra Consistory of Scottish Rite, the First Baptist Church of Ludlow and the Ludlow Parent Teacher Association. He was past president of Ludlow Board of Adjustments and a charter member of Ludlow Zoning Commission. He was vice president of Ludlow Centennial Committee, treasurer and charter member of Ludlow-Bromley Swim Club, and director emeritus of Home Federal Savings and Loan, Ludlow.
Other survivors include his wife, Grace Bell Bullock; a son, W. Daniel Bullock of Ft. Myers, Fla.; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Ludlow. Visitation will be 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Ludlow, and at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Hebron Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the church, 400 Linden St., Ludlow 41048, or Redwood School and Rehabilitation Center, 71 Orphanage Road, Ft. Mitchell 41017.
Joyce Behanan, 55, of Covington, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a former employee of Transit Authority of Northern Kentucky and a member of First Baptist Church, Elsmere.
Survivors include her husband, Robert L. Behanan Sr.; a son, Robert L. Behanan of Cincinnati; daughters, Erica Flagg of Cincinnati and Priscilla Williams of Covington; a brother, Steve Luke of Elsmere; sisters, Betty Jo Parks of Cincinnati, Bernice Webb of Elsmere, Dorothy Marks, Claudette Oden and Willa Mae Luke, all of Covington; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mary Smith Memorial Cemetery, Elsmere. Jones and Simpson Funeral Home, Covington, is handling arrangements.
Rissie M. Barnett, 65, of Erlanger, died at 11:45 a.m. Friday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. She was a employee with Morrison Cafeteria, Florence, and a member of Rosebud Chapter Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include sons, Clifton Earl Barnett Jr. of Palatka, Fla., Clyde Thomas Barnett of Erlanger and James Jonathon Barnett of Ryland Heights; daughters, Barbara Taylor of Burlington, Earlene Kenyon of Covington, Augusta Barnett and Teresa Holt, both of Independence, and Victoria Baker of Erlanger; her mother, Nannie Steele of Florence; brothers, John Steele, Ronnie Steele and Donnie Steele, all of Florence; sisters, Ora Stetter and Elizabeth Stetter, both of Florence, Lois Powell of Erlanger, Brenda Steele and Juanita Bowers, both of Elsmere; 29 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Evergreen cemetery Chapel, Southgate. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Barnett Memorial Fund, 515 Pike St., Covington 41011.

Carl M. Brown, 73, of Covington, died Sunday at his home. He was a retired employee of Kiechler Division, Cincinnati, and a member of the musical group Kentucky Country. He was a World War II veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy M. Brown; sons, Robert Davis of Taylor Mill and Carl Brown Jr. of Covington; daughters, Angela Stephens of Florence, Brenda Brown of Chicago, Ill., and Nancy Slone of Latonia; 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Don Catchen and Son Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will be 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.
Gene A. Cobb, 66, of Louisville, formerly of Owenton, died Saturday at Baptist Hospital East in Louisville. He was a retired loan officer with Citizen's Bank, Louisville, and an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Emily Baker Cobb; daughters, Patty Milslagle, Mary Cobb and Helen Cobb, all of Louisville; a son, Gregg Cobb of Louisville; a sister, Virginia Wiser of Independence; a brother, Howard Cobb of Independence; and two grandchildren.

Clara Ann Dews, 83, of Newport, died at 3:20 p.m. Friday at Lakeside Place Nursing Home in Highland Heights. She was a retired ticket clerk with Palace Theater, Cincinnati. Her husband, Elwood Dews, died in 1987.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis DeSales Church, Newport. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Ft Thomas. Memorials are suggested to the church.
Nellie Cook Duncan, 74, of Independence, died at 3:40 a.m. Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a homemaker and a member of Grace Baptist Church, Independence. Her husband, Donald Duncan, died in 1994.
Survivors include sons, James Duncan and David Duncan, both of Independence, Ronald Duncan and Paul Duncan, both of Falmouth, and Joseph Duncan of Walton; a daughter, Brenda Craddock of Stafford, Va.; a sister, Mary Alice Fisk of Morning View; 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Services will 1 p.m. Tuesday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery.
Genevieve Opal English, 70, of Falmouth, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a retired Falmouth police officer and a member of Community Pentecostal Church, Independence.
Survivors include sons, Ray Aulick of Crittenden, Ronnie English of Alexandria, Robert English of Jacksonville, Fla., Charles English and Clarence Aulick, both of Falmouth; daughters, Beverly Merrell of Erlanger, Sharon Wright and Becky Moneyhon, both of Falmouth; her stepmother, Goldie Taylor of Bracken County; a sister, Brenda Pugh of St. Petersburg, Fla.; 25 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Rick B. Farwick, 42, of New York City, formerly of Alexandria, died Monday at his home. He was a performer who danced, sang and acted in many plays and musicals, including New York summer stock and a 1995 Christmas program at Carnegie Hall, where he was a soloist. He also worked as a waiter in several restaurants, including El Greco's in Southgate, and was an assistant manager for J. Riggins, Florence. He was a former member of the choir at St. Mary Church, Alexandria.
Survivors include his parents, Claude and Angela Farwick of Alexandria; a sister, Claudia Kremer of Alexandria; and brothers, David Farwick of Cincinnati, Dan Farwick of Alexandria and Paul Farwick of Nashville, Tenn.
Memorial Mass will be 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Church, Alexandria. Alexandria Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Clifford Paul Haigis, 87, of Bellevue, died Sunday at St. Luke Hospital East, Ft. Thomas.
Arrangements are pending at Dobbling Funeral Home, Bellevue.
Gwendolyn A. Hall, 40, of Newport, died at 12:45 a.m. Saturday at Highlands of Ft. Thomas nursing home. She was a housekeeper with St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington, and a member of Ninth Street Baptist Church, Covington.
Survivors include sisters, Rhoda Gross of Crescent Springs, Patricia Hall of Newport, Kay Hall of Covington and Carrie Hall of Montgomery, Ala.
Services will be at the convenience of the family. Cremation will be at Hillside Chapel, Cincinnati. Don Catchen and Son Funeral Home, Covington, is handling arrangements.
Herman "Bo" Hohnhorst, 69, of Crestview Hills, died at 8:45 a.m. Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a retired director of grounds and buildings with Kenton County Board of Education and a member of St. Henry Church, Elsmere.
He was a former head of engineering with Krouse-Hines, Florence, and an engineering consultant with Maxfield, Edwards and Backer in Covington. He was a member of Kentucky Electrical Engineering Society and Summit Hills Country Club, and a former member of Kenton County Jaycees.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Faulhaber Hohnhorst.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Visitation will begin there at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. Entombment will be in St. Mary Mausoleum, Ft. Mitchell. Thelma Isaacs, 75, of Fairfield, Ohio, died at 3:30 a.m. Saturday at Mercy Hospital in Fairfield. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include sons, Glen Isaacs of Dayton and Dennis Isaacs of West Monroe, La.; a sister, Pauline Marsh of Hamilton, Ohio; a brother, Orville Madden of Hamilton, Ohio; nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Nellie M. Spegal, 92, of Mt. Auburn, died Friday at her home. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Charlie Spegal, died in 1951.
Survivors include a son, Larry Spegal of Falmouth; daughters, Alice King of Covington, Helen Weaver and Mildred Woodrum, both of Cincinnati, and Ruby Denny of Erlanger; 22 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Rexford Stokley Sr., 71, of Erlanger, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a shipping and receiving employee of LeBlond Machine and Tool Co., Cincinnati. His wife, Ruth Ann Stokley, died in 1990.
Survivors include sons, Lawrence Stokley and Michael Stokley, both of Milford, Ohio, Samuel Stokley of Florence and Rexford Stokley Jr. of Erlanger; daughters, Sherri Hausfield of Cincinnati and Melissa Stokley of Erlanger; and seven grandchildren.
