Robert DiMuro, devoted father, coach

Robert Vincent DiMuro was a native of Long Island, N.Y., who coached Knothole baseball and set deep roots into Kentucky.

Mr. DiMuro, 39, a ramp agent for Delta Air Lines, died Saturday at his home, apparently of heart attack. Mr. DiMuro appeared to be in good health before dying in his sleep, his wife, Debbie, said.

"He liked golf, tennis and racquetball, " Mrs. DiMuro said.

Mr. DiMuro, 39, had lived in Northern Kentucky since 1981, when Delta transferred him to the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.

Mr. and Mrs. DiMuro settled into Florence and Mr. DiMuro began coaching his son Vinnie's Knothole baseball team.

"His kids were his life. He coached for about eight years, " Mrs. DiMuro said. "He could make everyone laugh. He was always joking."

Mr. DiMuro maintained his ties with New York and visited his hometown often. He still rooted for the New York Knicks, Mrs. DiMuro said.

Still, his family was his best team, she said.

"He left me three kids, and that's good. They all have him in them, " Mrs. DiMuro said. "He just left us too early."

Other survivors include two sons, Vincent James DiMuro and Jim Salvatore DiMuro, both of Florence; a daughter, Danielle Momoe DiMuro, of Florence; his parents, Vincent and Marie Fernez DiMuro of Long Island, N.Y.; and three sisters, Maria Gianferro, Janice Walsh and Carol Simon, all of of Long Island, N.Y.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Henry Catholic Church, Elsmere. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home in Florence. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Erlanger.

Dr. Robert Eugene Cooke, 84, of Pensacola, Fla., formerly of Walton, died Sunday at his home. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He practiced medicine in Harrison, Ohio, and was an honorary member of Christ Hospital staff, Cincinnati. He was a member of American Medical Association, president of First National Bank, Harrison, Ohio, and a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, Pensacola.

Survivors include his wife, Juanita Cooke of Pensacola; a son, Ronald F. Cooke of Cincinnati; daughters, Teresa Boykin and Donna R. Russelburg, both of Cincinnati; and four grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Independence Cemetery, Independence. Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Walton, is handling arrangements. Memorials are suggested to Council on Aging, or Hillcrest Baptist Church building fund, 800 E. Nine Mile Road, Pensacola, Fla. 32514.

Margaret A. Kraemer Duty, 78, of St. Petersburg, Fla., formerly of Bellevue, died at 3:52 a.m. Sunday at St. Elizabeth South Medical Center in Edgewood. Ms. Duty was a homemaker. She was a member of Bellevue Vets Ladies Auxiliary and the Women's Guild of St. Raphael Church in St. Petersburg.

Her husband, Homer R. Duty, died in 1979.

Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl Franzen of St. Petersburg; a brother George Kraemer of Bellevue; and a granddaughter.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Church, Bellevue. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at A.C. Dobbling and Son Funeral Home, Bellevue. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Ft. Thomas.

Elizabeth Egger, 96, formerly of Taylor Mill, died 12:15 a.m. Monday at Baptist Convalescent Center, Newport.

Ms. Egger was a homemaker and a long-time member of the Oak Ridge Baptist Church, Covington. She was active in the Women's Missionary Union and a member of the Taylor Mill Senior Citizens.

Her husband, Edwin Egger, died in 1955.

Survivors include sons, Dave Egger of Crestview Hills and Frank Egger of Florence; daughters, Jean Peyton and Edna Lowe, both of Lexington; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Oak Ridge Baptist Church, Chimes Fund, 6056 Taylor Mill Road, Covington, 41015 or to St. Elizabeth Home Health Hospice. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.

Leroy Ernst, 79, of Ft. Wright, died at 9:15 a.m. Sunday at home. Mr. Ernst was a retired heavy equipment operator for Union Light, Heat & Power Co. He was an usher for Mother of God Church, Covington, a former bus driver for St. Agnes School in Ft. Wright, and a well-known softball pitcher and member of the Northern Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Winchester Ernst of Ft. Wright; daughters Wanda Harvey of Acworth, Ga., and Margaret Hickman of Falmouth; a son, Tom Ernst of Ft. Wright; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 12:05 p.m. Thursday at Mother of God Church, Covington. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell. Memorials may be made to the church.

Donna M. Graham, 44, of Parrish, Fla., formerly of Covington, died Saturday at her home. Ms. Graham was an assistant manager for Horticulture Systems of Parrish.

Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Lee Graham; a daughter, Shonna Lopez of Bradenton, Fla.; sisters Vernie Almas of Florence, Mona Gail Dance and Mary Jane Thompson of Paducah; and brothers, Clyde S. Fisk and Jerry L. Fisk, both of Demossville, Ky.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Wilmington Cemetery, Fiskburg.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southwest Florida, 430 Eighth Ave., West Palmetto, Fla., 34221.

Catherine "Pat" Lynch Morgan, 88, formerly of Florence, died Sunday at St. Charles

Care Center. Ms. Morgan had worked at U.S. Shoe in Cincinnati.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Stone of Erlanger; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Church, Florence. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell. Memorials may be made to St. Charles Care Center, 500 Farrell Drive, Covington, 41011 or in the form of Masses. Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger, is handling arrangements.

Betty Marie Pruitt Purtee, 72, of Latonia, died at 9:25 a.m. Sunday at St. Elizabeth Hospice, Covington.

Survivors include a brother, William Pruitt of Ft. Mitchell; nieces Donna McCleary of Maui, Hawaii, Patricia Abel of Brooksville, Fla., Nancy Abbott of Dayton, Betty Pruitt of Nebraska and Juanita Pruitt of Arizona.

A memorial service will be at 7 tonight at St. Patrick's Church, Taylor Mill; a memorial Mass will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be made to to St. Elizabeth Hospice, Covington.

R.V. Riley, 70, of Crestwood, formerly of Ghent, died Monday at Extenda-Care of Bedford.

Mr. Riley was a funeral director assistant at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home in Carrollton. He was a retired supply officer for the Kentucky State Reformatory, former office manager for Marshall-Harris Tobacco Warehouse, a school bus driver in Owen County through the 1940s and a farmer.

Survivors include his wife, Joan Raisor Riley of Crestwood; a son, Rob Riley, of Carrollton; daughters Debbie Lyons of Bethlehem and Tandy Wells of Crestwood; sisters, Evelyn Brock of Deland, Fla., Thelma Rieper of Deltona, Fla., Aileen Lanter and Emily Riley of Cincinnati; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home, Carrollton. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be at Ghent Masonic Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to WHAS Crusade for Children in care of the funeral home.

Imma Jean Simmons, 61, of Independence, died at 4 p.m. Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center Hospice, Covington. She was a retired cook for Frisch's in Fairfax, Ohio.

Survivors include a sister, Shirley Kilbane of Independence; brothers, Irby Byrd of Covington and Greg Honey of Independence.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.

Edward Thompson, 75, of Taylor Mill, died at 5:10 p.m. Saturday at Lakeside Place, Highland Heights. He was a salesman for many years and an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of St. Anthony Church, Taylor Mill.

Survivors include his wife, Muriel Thompson; a son, Blair C. Thompson of Taylor Mill; a sister, Dorothy Bartlett of Burlington; and one granddaughter.

Memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church. There will be no visitation.

Memorials are suggested to Alzheimers Disease Association, 644 Linn St., Cincinnati 45203. Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill, is handling arrangements.

Eleanor Ware Wager, 84, of Lakeside Park, died at 9 a.m. Sunday at her home. She was a former teacher for Covington public schools. Mrs. Wager was a member of the Rebecca Bryan Boone Chapter of D.A.R., a member of Ft. Mitchell Coun try Club, and a member Trinity Episcopal Church, Covington and a former member of the Junior Board of Covington Children's Home. Her husband, Berz Wager, died in 1991.

Survivors include daughters Katherine Terwort of Lakeside Park, Patricia Rothwell of Lexington and Ann Jurkowitz of Mt. Vernon, Ohio; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Highlands cemetery Chapel. Visitation begins at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel. Memorials are suggested to Adopt a Family Outreach Program, in care of Trinity Episcopal Church; to Covington Children's Home; or to the Kenton County Animal Shelter.

Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia, is handling arrangements.
