Ronald Ripberger, fishing lure creator, loving father
Ronald Allen Ripberger, 51, was a fisherman who designed his own bait.
Mr. Ripberger's fishing lures became so popular that he went into business making them, all by hand. The lure was called the Darting R.
"There was such a demand for them, that he couldn't keep up, " said his wife, Lorraine Cruse Ripberger. "Everybody just kept wanting them."
Mr. Ripberger, of Cold Spring, died at 7:15 a.m. Tuesday at his home.
Mr. Ripberger loved fishing. He taught his wife and children to fish. Mr. Ripberger had a bunch of fish stories that he loved to share.
"He had some fish pictures to go with his stories, where he caught a 6- or 8-pound fish, " Mrs. Ripberger said. "Every opportunity he had, he would go fishing. Any time he wasn't working, he was fishing. He'd even go fishing in the evening after work. He loved to fish."
But there was more to Mr. Ripberger than his work.
"He was a wonderful man and father and we all miss him a lot, " his wife said.
