Ruth Snodgrass, pioneer in business
Ruth Elizabeth Snodgrass was a woman ahead of her time.
Her father was a beer distributor and she and her husband, Jack Snodgrass, later bought the business from him.
However, Mrs. Snodgrass worked her way up in her father's company by driving trucks and delivering beer. And she supported many other women who worked their way through the business world, said her son, Jack D. Snodgrass of Cold Spring.
"She was outspoken. She worked in a male-dominated workplace, " Mr. Snodgrass said. "She helped many young women get started in business."

Mr. Snodgrass said his mother did not like national politics because of the harshness of some campaigns.
But she supported him when he ran for of fice because she viewed his job as being a public servant, he said.
"I was an only child. She was my leader. She was my mentor. She was my sounding board, " Mr. Snodgrass said. "Whenever I had a problem, she was always there."
Mrs. Snodgrass was a former American Business Woman of the Year and a member of Newport Elks.
She was a member of Campbell County Women's Club; St. Anthony Mothers Club; Newport Central Catholic Mothers Club and a supporter of Northern Kentucky Association for the Retarded.
