Frances Ledonne, loving mother

On the surface, Frances Margaret Ledonne's life didn't appear extraordinary.

Mrs. Ledonne, 86, grew up in a time where the husband worked and the wife stayed home to be with the children and cook and clean. But in so doing, Mrs. Ledonne set the framework for a close-knit family that has been going strong for four generations.

One son, Jack Ledonne of Elsmere, said he can't remember a time when his mother wasn't available to help her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

"What I remember most was that she was busy keeping a nice home, " Mr. Ledonne said. "And she made good Italian dishes. My favorite was spaghetti and meatballs."

Mrs. Ledonne, of Madonna Manor in Villa Hills, died at 1:50 a.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. Her husband, Joseph H. Ledonne, died in 1980.

Mrs. Ledonne was a quiet woman who had a good sense of humor. She kept in touch with her children and grandchildren after they moved away and all made efforts to contact her, her son said.

"Her great-grandchildren loved her. She was always there for her family, " Mr. Ledonne said.

"She was reserved, but she would surprise people with her laugh."
