Leo P. Woodall, bakery owner, devoted dad
Leo P. "Woody" Woodall had a little something to give to every child in the neighborhood: cookies, cakes and other bakery goodies.
Mr. Woodall spent more than 50 years in the bakery business, running three bakeries through the years and putting smiles on the faces of many children.
"He was just great all the way around. He was always there for us girls and his grandchildren, " said his daughter, Jeanette Wells of Cincinnati.
Mr. Woodall, 76, of Cincinnati, died Tuesday at Franciscan Hospital Mt. Airy Campus in Cincinnati. A native of Somerset, he owned three Greater Cincinnati bakeries and was a Navy veteran of World War II. His wife, Rita C. Wergers Woodall, died in 1996.
Ms. Wells said two of three bakeries Mr. Woodall ran, Southside Bakery on Beekman Street in Cincinnati and Pattycake Bakery in Cincinnati, were staples of their neighborhoods.
"There were a lot of chubby kids running around, " Ms. Wells joked.
She said Mr. Woodall was a wonderful father and grandfather, practically raising his grandchildren.
"He was like a father to his grandchildren. He was great. You couldn't ask for a better grandparent, " she said. "He'll be missed."
Other survivors include another daughter, Rita Meece of Hebron; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Frederick Funeral Home, Cincinnati. Visitation will begin there at 1:30 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Hebron Lutheran Cemetery. Dorothy Schoech Arnzen, 85, of Edgewood, died Saturday at Florence Park Care Center in Florence. She was a tax examiner with the Internal Revenue Service and a member of Daughters of Isabella Newport Circle No. 88. She also was a member of Catholic Order of Foresters St. Anns No. 19, and a member of St. Agnes Church, Ft. Wright.
Survivors include daughters, Dotty Kammerer of Xenia, Ohio, Bobbie Reilly of Melrose Park, Ill., Mary Hoffmeister of Edgewood and Ginny Pohlman of Versailles; sisters, Margaret Calhoun of Villa Hills and Alberta Rohling Muth of Enon, Ohio; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Agnes Church. Visitation will immediately follow Mass, in the St. Agnes school cafeteria. Cremation will be at Hillside Chapel, Cincinnati. Memorials are suggested to BeConcerned, 714 Washington Ave., Covington 41011. Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger, is handling arrangements.
Anita Baker, 58, of Covington, died at 3:41 p.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
Arrangements are pending at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia.
Lawrence E. Bennett, 42, of Cincinnati, formerly of Northern Kentucky, died Sunday at University Hospital, Cincinnati. He was a clerk with Aufdemkampe Hardware Co., Cincinnati.
Survivors include a brother, Patrick Bennett.
Services will be at the convenience of the family. Cremation Society of Greater Cincinnati is handling arrangements. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.
Wayne R. "Indian" Brown, 45, of Aberdeen, Ohio, died Tuesday in Chicago. He was a self-employed truck driver.
Survivors include his wife, Janet Colemire Brown; daughters, Melissa Wollman and Robbin "Shelly" Brown, both of Maysville, Crystal Hunt of Mays Lick and Lisa Brown of Mechanicsburg; a son, Michael Shane Brown of Aberdeen; four sisters and two brothers.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Palmer Funeral Home, Mays Lick. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Shannon Cemetery, Mason County.
Bobby J. Daniels, 57, of Burlington, died at 9:50 a.m. Monday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. He was a bricklayer with Freeman Masonry, Union, and a member of Union Masonic Lodge. He was an honorary member of Union VFW Post.
Survivors include his wife, JoAnn Freeman Daniels; daughters, Carol Bearden and Rita Jones, both of Burlington, and Sandra Gross of Union; sons, Bobby Daniels Jr. and Randy Daniels, both of Union; his stepmother, Jacqueline Daniels of Erlanger; half-brothers, Billy Joe Daniels of Covington and Ronnie Daniels of Corinth; a sister, Hazel Leatherwood of Tennessee; a half-sister, Anna Ruff of Erlanger; and 13 grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Linnemann Funeral Home, Burlington. Visitation will began there at noon. Burial will be in Beechgrove Holiness Cemetery, Burlington. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Northern Kentucky, 1403 Alexandria Pike, Ft. Thomas 41075.
Carl Granger Jr., 56, of West Chester, Ohio, formerly of Dayton, died at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bethesda North Hospital, Cincinnati. He was a technology specialist with General Electric, Cincinnati, and a member of EL FUN Association. He also was a member of American Motorcycle Association and National Rifle Association.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Wiete Granger; a daughter, Dori Manley of Houston; a son, Dan Granger of West Chester; a sister, Yvonne Parker of Tennessee; a brother, Dennis Granger of Erlanger; and one grandchild.

John William Hammerly, 69, of Cincinnati, formerly of Newport, died at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Ft. Thomas.
Survivors include daughters, Marie Britton of West Chester, Ohio, Nancy Holland of Hazard, Marilyn Hurt of Cincinnati and Paulynn Scrivner of Ft. Thomas; a son, John William Butler of Beattyville; a sister, Jeanette Banker of Dayton; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Henry Richard Hensley, 78, of Ft. Thomas, died at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Florence Park Care Center in Florence. He was a retired owner of Victory Welding and Fabricating Co. in Elmwood, Ohio. His wife, Grace Sullinger Hensley, died in 1994.
Survivors include a son, Richard Hensley of Ft. Thomas; brothers, Ralph Hensley of Norfolk, Va., and Edwin Hensley of Crescent Springs; and a sister, Henrietta Williams of Berry.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell.
Holly Jo Thomas Ihli, 20, of Dayton, died at 1 a.m. Wednesday on the L&N; Bridge in a motorcycle accident. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Jeremiah Ihli, also died in the accident.
Survivors include a daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Hamblin of Newport; a son, Joseph Jasper Alan Hamblin of Newport; her mother and stepfather, Deborah and Darrell Means of Newport; her father, Clarence Thomas of Newport; grandparents, Juanita and Jasper Stamper of Newport, and Patricia and Joe Cope of Vero Beach, Fla.; a step-grandmother, Helen Gadd of Newport; and great-grandmothers, Stella Conway of Vero Beach and Ella Stamper of Newport.

Jeremiah Ihli, 23, of Covington, died at 1 a.m. Wednesday at University Medical Center, Cincinnati, of injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident. He was a painter. His wife, Holly Jo Thomas Ihli, also died in the accident.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Linda and David Marshall of Covington; a son, Jeremiah Ihli of Dayton; a brother, James Ihli of Florence; and a grandmother, Phyllis Spaulding of Ft. Thomas.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Don Catchen and Son Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will begin there at noon Friday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.
Martha LeForce, 102, of Florence, died Wednesday at her home. Arrangements are pending at Stith Funeral Home, Florence.
William J. Logston, 94, of Lakeside Park, died at 12:12 a.m. Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. He was a retired housing inspector with the City of Covington. His wife, Edna Logston, died in 1996.
Survivors include a daughter, Diana Logston of Lakeside Park; a sister, Rose Pahls of Covington; 14 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:45 a.m. Friday at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Ft. Wright. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Friday. Entombment will be in Highland Mausoleum, Ft. Mitchell. Martha Green Miller, 89, of Maysville, died Wednesday at Vanceburg Rehabilitation Health Care Center in Vanceburg. She was a spinner with January and Wood Co., Maysville.
Survivors include her niece, Dorothy Campbell of Maysville; and nephews, Billy Green and David Miller, both of Maysville.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Brell and Son Funeral Home, Maysville. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Maysville Cemetery.
Louise Francis Shipman, 93, of Burlington, died Tuesday at her home. She was a homemaker. Her husband, William Earl Shipman, died in 1982.
Survivors include sons, William E. "Mike" Shipman of Walton and James O. Shipman of Houston; daughters, Mary L. Heine of Villa Hills and Verna M. Schmeing of Burlington; 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Cecilia Church, Independence. Visitation will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Cincinnati.
Chad Steven Stump, 23, of Carrollton, died Tuesday at his home. He was an employee of Kentucky Ladder Co.
Survivors include sons, Chad Steven Stump Jr. and Chaz M. Langdon, both of Louisville; a daughter, Chastity Lyn Stump of Louisville; his parents, Jessie Allen Stump of Taylorsville and Deborah Stump of Carrollton; a sister, Jessica Lyn Stump of Florida; a brother, Jesse C. Henderson of Taylorsville; and grandparents, Alvin and Virginia Smith of Louisville.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Graham-Dunn Funeral Home, Carrollton.
Virginia Wright, 87, of Falmouth, died Wednesday at Harrison Memorial Hospital, Cynthiana.
