Mrs. Sallie Youngblood
(By Rev. W. H. Wilcox)
Mrs. Sallie Youngblood, wife of George A. Youngblood, was born January 10th, 1865, died May 16th, 1929.
Sister Youngblood was the daughter of Ephriam H. and Millie Phillips. She has been a member of Boiling Springs Missionary Baptist church for the last fifty years of her life. She was an invalid for twelve years. She was one of the most patient sufferers that I ever knew.
For four years, I served the Swainsboro Circuit charge as pastor. Ebenezer Methodist church was one of the churches that I served, Sister Youngblood lived within a few years of the church and it was my special privilege to call on her in her sick room almost every time I preached at Ebenezer church, which always gave me inspiration, and it seemed that I was always better prepared to preach after having talked with her and prayed with her. I believe that she was one of the sweetest and mot consecrated Christian women that it was ever my privilege to know.
Her husband, seven daughters and three sons, survive her, and many call her Mother Youngblood, because of her love and unselfish interest in their welfare. She as always in a happy mood and possessed the ability to make others happy. Her last years were years of benediction and joy to those who met her. Her cherry smile, her continued interest in things in life, her abiding faith and her unfailing kindness to everyone made life's eventide a golden hour. Although afflicted, her optimism was more pronounced with the years.
Her faith in God made her crossing the Bar' a happy homecoming for a true and faithful Child of God. Her children and friends can call her "Blessed".
DEATH CLAIMS INVALID LADY
Funeral services for Mrs. George A. Youngblood, were held at Kemp last Friday afternoon, being conducted by Rev. Z. M. Leverette and Rev. K. H. MacGregor, of Swainsboro.
Mrs. Youngblood died at her home about six miles from town last Thursday afternoon at one o'clock. She had been an invalid for twelve years, during which time she had borne her afflictions with a fortitude that was magnificent to behold.
Mrs. Youngblood was 64 years of age at the time of her death and had lived a life worthy of emulation. She was loved and admired by a host of friends, who are grieved at her passing, but who will remember her as one of the gentlest and kindest of God's children. She was before her marriage Miss Sallie Phillips and had been a member of Boiling Springs Missionary Baptist church for some fifty years.
Besides her husband the deceased is survived by seven daughters and three sons, Mrs. J. E. Thompson, Mrs. J. E. Page, Mrs. J. A. Hall, Mrs. R. B. Thompson, Mrs. Andrew Becton, Misses Thelma and Jewel Youngblood, Messrs. G. W., W. A. and Ephriam Youngblood.
