Robert Lambert, wood craftsman
Robert Wayne Lambert of Corinth treasures the picture frames his father crafted with loving care.
Carpentry was both a profession and a family calling for his father, Robert C. Lambert, 68, of Corinth, who died Thursday at Grant Manor in Williamstown.
"His father was a carpenter, and he started doing the work with his father, " said his son. "He made beautiful picture frames, not just something you buy at the store."
Mr. Lambert was a cabinet maker for the Lexington Army Depot, making everything from boxes to furniture. He retired at age 55.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and also was stationed in Germany.
When he returned to the United States, he performed maintenance work at the Army Depot and worked his way up to the carpentry job.
Mr. Lambert was a member of Corinth Baptist Church and a Moose Lodge in Lexington.
He lived on Corinth Lake since the 1960s and enjoyed fishing with his family.
Other survivors include sons, Alvin Gray of Sadieville, Richard Allen Lambert of Corinth and Steven Ray Lambert of Falmouth; brothers, Joseph Allen Lambert of Georgetown and William F. Lambert of Winchester; a sister, Thelma McAlister of Lexington; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Rogers Funeral Home, Corinth, with visitation from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
Burial will be in Bluegrass Cemetery, Lexington.
Barbara Joan Bates, 61, of Independence, died Friday at her home.
She was a member of True Vine Praise and Worship Fellowship Church, Independence.
Survivors include her parents, William W. and Helen F. Bates of Independence; sisters, Shirley Vincent of Cincinnati and Patricia M. Gilpin of Glendale, Ohio.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence, with visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Independence.

Velma Burton of Covington died at 11:03 p.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Independence.
Survivors include her husband, Eugene Bailey; sisters, Geneva Hamilton of Independence, Nancy Isaacs of Crescent Springs and Viola Isaacs of New Zion; brothers, Lucien Isaacs of New Zion and Louie Isaacs.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence, with visitation at 3 p.m.
Burial will be in Independence Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church in Independence or New Bethel Baptist Church in Somerset.
Esther C. Davis, 57, of Covington, died Wednesday at her home. She was a homemaker and a member of Second Baptist Church, Newport, where she served in the Pastor's Aid Choir, Senior Missionary Society and Nurse's Guild.
Survivors include a son, Michael Davis of Covington; a brother, Clyde Davis of Newport; sisters, Virginia Davis and Mary Jackson of Covington and Dorothy Slay of Ann Arbor, Mich.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at the church, with visitation at noon.
Burial will be in Linden Grove Cemetery, Covington.

Ethel Lee Evans, 87, of Latonia, died Wednesday at Rosedale Manor Nursing Home, Covington.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a son, Richard Evans of Park Hills; daughters, Mildred Petrey of Erlanger, Helen Hayden of Taylor Mill, Marie Winchell and Jean Weatherford of Litchfield; and 19 grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Don Catchen and Son Funeral Home, Elsmere, with visitation at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell.
Betty J. Goode Fobbe, 69, of Edgewood, died Thursday at Good Samaritan Hospital, Cincinnati.
She was a homemaker and a member of Florence Christian Church.
Survivors include her husband, Robert A. Fobbe; a son, Michael Fobbe of Elsmere; brothers, Howard "Hank" G. Goode of Marietta, Ohio, Eugene J. Goode of Roswell, Ga., and Irvin L. Goode of St. Louis; sisters, Shirley A. Jones of Tulsa, Okla., and Patricia Bailey of Proctorville, Ohio.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence, with visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.

John "Jack" Nestheide, 73, of Crestview Hills, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center Hospice, Covington.
He was a retired accountant for Robke Chevrolet, Covington.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine "Katie" Nestheide; sons, Tom Nestheide of Highland Heights, Bob Nestheide of Ft. Thomas and Jim Nestheide of Edgewood; daughters, Joan Tumblinson of Fairfield, Ohio, Clare Kwitowski of Concord, Ohio, and Mary Ann Nestheide of Edgewood; a sister, Vera Williams of Erlanger.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Mother of God Church, Covington, with visitation 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Covington.

Bryce S. VanLandingham Jr., 69, of Erlanger, died Friday morning at his home. He was a retired office manager for Martin Marietta, a Navy veteran and a member of Erlanger Baptist Church. His wife, Violet Fernandez VanLandingham, died in 1984.
Survivors include his son, Ramon VanLandingham of Florida; a sister, Ruth V. Finfrock of Lakeside Park; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at the convenience of the family. Memorials are suggested to the church, 116 Commonwealth Ave., Erlanger 41018. Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Erlanger, is handling arrangements.
Alma C. Westwood, 87, of Highland Heights, died Friday at St. Luke Hospital East, Ft. Thomas.
She was a retired seamstress for Hyde Park Clothing in Newport and a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Alexandria.
Her husband, Harry Westwood, died in 1978. Survivors include nieces, Wilma McMullin of Alexandria and Sally Schmidt of Highland Heights; and a nephew, Fred Schmidt of Alexandria.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Alexandria Funeral Home, with visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday.
Burial will be in Alexandria Cemetery.
