Carl Parker, builder and volunteer
Carl M. Parker of Verona was president of a construction company, but what he viewed as his biggest success was his four sons and three daughters.
"He always bragged about his kids, " said a son-in-law, Eric Deters of Walton.
Mr. Parker, 67, died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood.
He was president of C.M. Parker Construction Co. In the 1970s and 1980s, he was involved in commercial remodeling in downtown Cincinnati, Mr. Deters said. Over the past 10 years, he built custom, single-family homes in Boone County.
Mr. Parker was past chairman of the board of the Kentucky State Police Trooper Island Boys Camp at Dale Hollow Lake in southcentral Kentucky. He and his wife traveled to the boys camp last year when a new lodge was built, Mr. Deters said.
He was a past president of the Walton Lions
Club and a past district governor of Kentucky Lions. Mr. Parker was a member of All Saints Church in Walton. He led the remodeling effort of the church in 1971.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and an avid war historian, Mr. Deters said.
"He has more books and videotapes on war history than anyone I've ever seen, " he said.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria Scott Parker; sons, Carl H. Parker of Florence, Scott Parker of Walton, Mark Parker of Union and Chris Parker of Verona; daughters, Cindy Armstrong of Independence, Angie Neace of Burlington and Lisa Deters of Walton; his mother, Emma Parker of Florence; brothers, Donald Parker and Gene Autry Parker, both of Crescent Springs; and 22 grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Burial, with graveside VFW service, will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Verona.
Memorials are suggested to Louisville Eye Bank, Walton Lions Club, or Kentucky State Police Trooper Island Boys Camp.
Vera Mae Bradley, 87, of Newport, died Monday at her home.
Arrangements are pending at Don Catchen and Son Funeral Home, Covington.
Stella Mae Chadwell, 70, of Carrollton, died Sunday at Carroll County Memorial Hospital in Carrollton. She was a homemaker. Her husband, John Chadwell, died in 1993.
Survivors include sons, James E. Chadwell of Lima, Ohio, Roger Chadwell and Gary Chadwell, both of Carrollton, and John Chadwell of Memphis, Tenn.; a brother, Charles Osborne of Carrollton; a sister, Isbelle Davis of Warsaw; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services were this morning at Graham-Dunn Funeral Home, Carrollton. Burial was in IOOF Cemetery, Carrollton.
Carrie Davis, 50, of Cincinnati, died Monday at her home.
Arrangements are pending at Peoples Funeral Home, Falmouth.
George Doerman, 98, of Covington, died at 2:35 a.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center
South, Edgewood. He was a retired salesman and a member of Lakeside Presbyterian Church, Lakeside Park. He was a member of Hanselmann Lodge No. 208 F&AM in Monfort Heights, Ohio.
Survivors include his wife, Ursula Schulte Doerman; a son, George Doerman Jr. of Lumberton, N.C.; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Ft. Wright. Memorials are suggested to Neediest Kids of All, P. O. Box 631700, Cincinnati, Ohio 45263, or to charity. Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia, is handling arrangements.
Matthew Ryan Fugate, 7, of Florence, died at 4:29 p.m. Saturday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence, of an accidental strangulation. He was a second-grade student at Florence Elementary School, and a member of Florence Baptist Temple.
Survivors include his parents, Kenneth and Charlotte Hobson; sisters, Jennifer Fugate and Amanda Fugate, both of Florence; grandparents, Kenneth Lee Hobson of Florence, Sylvia Bean of Forest Park, Ohio, Roy Fugate of Hazard, and Brenda Miller of Florence; and a great-grandmother, Irene Gregory of Okmulgee, Okla.

Alma Jaggers, 95, of Alexandria, died at 3:05 a.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a homemaker and a member of Main Street Baptist Church, Alexandria. Her husband, Morris Jaggers, died in 1990.
Survivors include a son, Wayne Jaggers of Alexandria; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mary MacIntosh, 92, of Ft. Thomas, died at 8:20 p.m. Sunday at St. Luke Hospital East in Ft. Thomas. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Paul G. MacIntosh, died in 1980.
Survivors include a niece, Jeanne King of Park Hills; and a great niece and great nephew.

Dr. Robert J. McCabe, 76, of Crescent Springs, died at 7:50 a.m. Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a dermatologist in private practice in Newport, Covington and in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and was an Army Medical Corps veteran of World War II.
He was a member of the Cincinnati Dermatological Society; Kentucky, American and Southern medical associations; the American Academy of Dermatology; Kenton County and Campbell County medical societies; and the Cincinnati Dermatology Association.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn McCabe; daughters, Molly Silverstein of Ft. Lauderdale, and Colleen McCabe of Crescent Springs; sons, Jerald McCabe of Cincinnati and Erin McCabe of Hebron; stepsons, Laurence Quill of Belleuve and Timothy Quill of Cincinnati; a stepdaughter, Shannon Arsenault of Clearwater, Fla.; a sister, Dolores Berryman of Midland, Mich.; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

John A. McGinnis, 80, of Covington, died at 2:48 p.m. Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North in Covington, of injuries suffered in an auto accident. He was a retired rate clerk with L&N; Railroad and a member of Decoursey Baptist Church, Fairview. He was a member of T.C.U. Teamsters, and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth McGinnis; a son, Charles Anthony McGinnis of Covington; a daughter, Sharon Kay Brodbeck of Cincinnati; brothers, Bradley Cox of Jacksonville, Fla., Otis Cox of Mesquite, Texas, and Clark Cox of Frankfort.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Floral Hills Mausoleum, Taylor Mill.
John "Jack" Nestheide, 73, of Crestview Hills, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center Hospice, Covington. He was a retired accountant for Robke Chevrolet, Covington.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine "Katie" Nestheide; sons, Tom Nestheide of Highland Heights, Bob Nestheide of Ft. Thomas and Jim Nestheide of Edgewood; daughters, Joan Tumblinson of Fairfield, Ohio, Clare Kwitowski of Concord, Ohio, and Mary Ann Nestheide of Edgewood; a sister, Vera Williams of Erlanger; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Margaret "Peggy" Pryor, 83, of Latonia, died at 8:05 a.m. Monday at St. Luke Hospital East, Ft. Thomas. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Richard William Pryor, died in 1990. A daughter, Lucille Wetterer, died in 1987.
Survivors include sons, George Flick of Cincinnati and Richard L. Pryor of Erlanger; a daughter, Margaret Smith of Cincinnati; 17 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Paula Michelle Reaser, 29, of Falmouth, died Saturday at University Hospital, Cincinnati, of injuries suffered in an auto accident. She was an employee of Bennett's Personal Care Home, Falmouth, and attended Chapel of Praise Church in Falmouth.
Survivors include her husband, James Buntain Jr.; sons, Ethal Allen Sturgil, Daniel Earl Jolly and Carl William Buntain, all at home, Joshua Sturgil and Justin Sturgil; ; daughters, Michelle Sturgil, at home, and Alexis Harrison; brothers, Louie Brawley and Daniel Brawley, both of Hammond, Ind.; sisters, Jessica Brawley and Jennifer Brawley, both of Hammond, Ind.; and her grandmother, Virginia LaFollette of Lenoxburg.

Viola D. Reffett, 82, of Warsaw, died at 9:30 a.m. Monday at her home. She was a homemaker and a member of Warsaw Baptist Church. Her husband, Raymond Reffett, died in 1988. A daughter, Loyce Reffett, died in 1985.
Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Justis of Warsaw; a son, Joe Reffett of Sarasota, Fla.; a sister, Mary Lou Colin of Reseda, Calif.; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Carlton-Lowder Funeral Home, Warsaw. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Warsaw Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Warsaw Baptist Church, Gallatin County Life Squad, and Hospice of Northern Kentucky.
Charles Roberts, 71, of Newport, died at 10:20 p.m. Monday at his home.

Bessie Virginia Staab Royse, 93, of Cincinnati, formerly of Dayton, died at 10:50 a.m. Friday at Beechknoll Community in Cincinnati. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include daughters, Betty Martin of Inverness, Fla., Virginia Martin of Edgewood, Margie Ashcraft of Niles, Mich., and Carol Newman of Cincinnati; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
