GILMER -- Services for Bishop Marvin Alfred, 90, of Gilmer will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Croley Funeral home....
Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
Mr. Alfred died Thursday in a Gilmer hospital.
He was born April 23, 1896, in Gregg County. He was a retired farmer, a World War I veteran and a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Gilmer.
Survivors includes his wife, Willie Dee; sons, Richard of Tyler and Hamp of Houston; sister, Annie Jones of Longview; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Charles Curtis Alford Jr., 34, of Silsbee died Feb 15 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont....
A native of Beaumont, he lived in the Silsbee area most of his life and was a self employed handyman.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Hernandez Alford of Lumberton; son, Shawn Hernandez of Lumberton; daughters, Amanda Hernandez, Ashely Hernandez and DeeDee Hernandez, all of Lumberton; father and stepmother, Charles C. Alford Sr and Kathy Alford of Beaumont; mother and stepfather, JoAnn and D.J. Giroir of Evadale; sisters, Kelly Schurtz of Houston, Sheila Lauderdale of Beaumont and Pamela Brown, Regina Schoonover and Lisa Hughes, all of Silsbee; brother, Alan C. Alford of Beaumont; and grandparents, Capt. and Mrs. Jack Junior Kelly of Beaumont.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or Cerebral Palsy Foundation.

Alford, Edward J. (Bud), 64, of Richardson and formerly of Garland, passed away December 19, 1998 in Richardson. Born in Pickton, TX on March 24, 1934, to the Rev. Roy and Lela Alford. He was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church in Garland. He retired after 45 years in the retail grocery business. Survived by his wife of 39 years, Maxine Alford; two sons, Douglas Edward Alford & wife, Brenda, of Garland, TX and Randall Lynn Alford & wife, Sylvia, of Palm Bay, FL; a daughter Renee Sessions & husband, Lewis, of San Antonio, TX; two brothers; three sisters; four grandchildren; a step grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 am. Tuesday in Williams Funeral Chapel.... Interment will follow in Garland Memorial Park....

Jasper Newell Alford, Jr. passed away Dec. 21, 1998, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas. Services were held at Forest Lawn Funeral Chapel on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24.... Burial followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Mr. Alford was born Jan. 20, 1914. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and his wife, Bernice Kathleen Alford. On Oct. 26, 1996, he married
Paula Hamner of Beaumont. They enjoyed two wonderful and happy years together.
Mr. Alford was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Combat Infantry of the Army in Central and Eastern Europe. He received the European Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon, Bronze Battle Star, Combat Infantrymen's Badge, and Defense Service Ribbon. Upon his discharge, Mr. Alford returned to Beaumont and went to work for Mobil Oil where he retired as a supervisor. He was a member of the First United methodist Church and many Senior organizations.
Survivors include his wife, Paula Hamner Alford of Beaumont, two daughters Susan S. Allen of Waco and Claudia K. Presley of Pt. Neches; a son Jim N. Alford of Nederland; a brother, Jack D. Alford and wife Kathryn of Beaumont; two stepchildren, Molly Cordeau of Houston and Stephen Hamner of San Francisco, Ca; two grandsons; and two step-grandsons....

Mr. Alford is survived by his wife, Paula Hammer [sic] Alford of Beaumont, TX; son, Jim N. Alford of Port Neches, TX; daughters Susan S. Allen of Waco, TX, Claudia K. Presley of Port Neches, TX; brother, Jack D. Alford and wife Katherine of Beaumont, TX; two stepchildren, Molly Cordeau of Houston, TX and Stephen Hammer [sic] of San Francisco, California. Two grandchildren and two step grandchildren. Mr. Alford was prededed in death by his parents and two sisters.
Mr. Alford was a graduate of South Park Trade School and held numerous positions before entering the Armed Services in 1941. He was in the Combat Infantry in Central Europe in World War II. Mr. Alford received the European Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon, a Bronze Battle Star, the Combat Infantrymen's Badge, the Defense Service Ribbon, serving in Eastern Europe during World War II. After an honorable discharge from the Armed Forces, Mr. Alford returned to Beaumont and was employed by Mobil Oil, where he retired as a Supervisor.

Lola Mae Alfred, 74, of Beaumont died March 29 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at First Union Baptist church with burial at Greenlawn cemetery under the direction of Mercy Funeral Home on Gladys Avenue.
A native of DeRidder, La., she lived in Beaumont 70 years.
Survivors include her husband, Alfred B.
