Frederick Boehmer, loving dad, coach

Hard work and involvement with his family were the touchstones of Frederick A. Boehmer's life.

Mr. Boehmer, 56, of Ft. Wright, died Saturday morning in St. Elizabeth Medical Center South.

"He was a hard-working man. He was a family man who devoted his life to me and his children, " said Mr. Boehmer's wife, Margie.

"When the children were involved with an activity, he became very involved, " said Mrs. Boehmer. Her husband was a coach for his youngsters' swimming team, the Gators, who were affiliated with the Wade YMCA, as well as a coach and referee for their soccer teams.

The swimming team traveled to places such as Lexington, Louisville, Frankfort and Greenville, Ohio, and Mr. Boehmer, as president of Wade YMCA Boosters and a coach, would always accompany them, she said.

It was the same with soccer. Mr. Boehmer helped coach, and then took a referee test and performed that duty for youth and high school soccer games for several years, Mrs. Boehmer said.

Mr. Boehmer was a native of Covington and a graduate of St. Aloysius Elementary and Covington Catholic High School. He was a veteran of the Air Force and served several years in Germany, his wife said.

Mr. Boehmer was in the excavating business with his brother-in-law, operating heavy equipment and holding the office of vice president of Joe W. Trenkamp Inc., Ft. Wright.

He was also treasurer of the Lookout Heights Golf League, which plays at Devou Fields.

In addition to his wife, survivors include sons, Eric Boehmer of Cincinnati and Chris Boehmer of Taylor Mill; daughters, Melissa Stegman of Ft. Wright and Aly Boehmer of Cincinnati; a brother, Bill Boehmer of Toledo, Ohio; sisters, Barbara Boehmer of Edgewood and Betty Danowsky of Long Island, N.Y.; and three grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 12:05 p.m. Tuesday at Mother of God Church, Covington. Visitation will be from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Entombment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer's Disease Association, 644 Linn St., Cincinnati, Ohio 45203; or Hospice of Northern Kentucky, 1403 Alexandria Pike, Ft. Thomas, Ky. 41075.

Robert Edward "Buster" Anness, 53, of Dry Ridge, died Friday at University Medical Center, Lexington, after an extended illness. He was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church, Grant County.

Survivors include his wife, Jerrie McIntosh Anness; daughters, Marcie Anness and Paula McIntosh, both at home; a stepdaughter, Gail Holland of Lexington; a stepson, Dwayne Holland of Lexington; and sisters, Jeanette Clark of Williamstown, Barbara Paliciof of Sulfur Springs, Texas, Dorothy King of Jonesville and Rose Mary Neal of Columbus, Ohio.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Woodhead Funeral Home, Berry. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pythian Grove Cemetery, Berry. Memorials are suggested to Buster Anness Burial Fund, in care of Community First Bank, Dry Ridge, Ky. 41035.

Jarvis J. Baltenberger, 86, of Ft. Thomas, died at 8:55 p.m. Saturday at St. Luke Hospital East in Ft. Thomas. He was a retired welder with William Powell Valve Co., Cincinnati.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma Bottorff Baltenberger; and a daughter, Bonnie Sue Short of Ft. Thomas.

Services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Alexandria Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to American Lung Association, 11113 Kenwood Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45242, or the charity of the donor's choice. Dobbling Funeral Home, Ft. Thomas, is handling arrangements.

Mary Ann Hickey Cassidy, 82, of Edgewood, died at 1:25 p.m. Saturday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. She was a homemaker and a former member of both the St. Elizabeth Women's Auxiliary and Thomas More College Women's Guild. Her husband, Dr. John L. Cassidy, died in 1995. A son, Timothy R. Cassidy, preceded her in death.

Survivors include sons, Dr. David Lee Cassidy of Fountain Valley, Calif., Dr. Brennan Cassidy of Newport Beach, Calif., J. Kevin Cassidy of Dublin, Ohio, Thomas M. Cassidy of Ft. Wright and Stephen P. Cassidy of Hollywood, Fla.; daughters, M. Eileen Cassidy of Cincinnati and Molly "Mary Anne" Cassidy of Los Altos, Calif.; seven grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Pius X Church, Edgewood. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to St. Elizabeth Home-Health Hospice, 401 E. 20th St., Covington, Ky. 41014; or the American Cancer Society, 7730 U. S. 42, Suite C6, Florence, Ky. 41042.

Diana Anita Dadosky, 40, of Florence, died at 5 p.m. Friday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. She was a tax examiner with the Internal Revenue Service.

Survivors include her husband, William Dadosky; a son, Nicholas Dadosky of Florence; a daughter, Stacy Serra of Els mere; her mother, Joan Justice of Florence; a brother, Michael Justice of Florence; sisters, Leah Knight of Hamilton, Ohio, and Robin Justice of Erlanger; and one grandchild.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 12:10 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul Church, Florence. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Don Catchen and Son Funeral Home, Elsmere. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.

Jesse F. Detisch, 64, of Butler, died Sunday at St. Luke Hospital East, Ft. Thomas. He was a writer for the Falmouth Outlook where he was known as the "Four Creek Gardener." He was also engaged in farming and was retired from the C & O Railroad.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Detisch; a son, Michael Detisch of Grants Lick; daughters, Evelyn Gulden of Cleves, Ohio, and Judy Haskamp of Falmouth; a brother, Jerry Detisch of Springboro, Ohio; sisters, Laurie Powell of Melbourne and Sharon Piccirillo of Newport; and eight grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Falmouth.

Leroy L. Dolwick, 76, of Constance, died at 1 a.m. Saturday at his home. He was a retired farmer and a member of Constance Christian Church. He was a charter member of Hebron Lions Club.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Horton Dolwick; a son, Leroy A. Dolwick of Constance; a daughter, Karen Bemerer of Delhi Hills, Ohio; a brother, Melvin Dolwick of Waldo, Fla.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hebron Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Constance Christian Church, Constance, Ky. 41009.

George W. Gilb, 66, of Alexandria, died at 7 a.m. Saturday at Veterans Administration Hospital, Cincinnati. He was a self-employed carpenter and a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include daughters, Rita M. Gilb of Erlanger and Deborah K. Miller of Brush Creek, Tenn.; sisters, Mary Lou Manning of Newport and Ethel M. Hitch of Alexandria; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Peoples Funeral Home, Grant Lick. Visitation will begin there at noon Tuesday. Burial will be in Alexandria Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association, 1885 Dixie Highway, Suite 250, Ft. Wright, Ky. 41011.

William Orie Griffin Sr., 75, of Camarillo, Calif., formerly of Northern Kentucky, died Tuesday in Camarillo. He was a retired freight clerk with Louisville & Nashville Railroad and Santa Fe Railroad. He was an Army veteran of World War II. His wife, Helen Griffin, died in 1993.

Survivors include a daughter, Janet C. Hall of Camarillo, Calif.; a son, William O. Griffin Jr. of Las Vegas; and sisters, Ollie Witt of Riverside, Calif. and Debra Griffin of Anaheim, Calif.; four grandchildren and six great- grandchildren.

Services will be at 12:30 p.m. PST Tuesday at Acheson & Graham Funeral Home in Riverside, Calif. Burial will be in Riverside National Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, 7730 U. S. 42, Suite C6, Florence, Ky. 41042, or American Heart Association, 1885 Dixie Highway, Suite 250, Ft. Wright, Ky. 41011. Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Covington, is handling local arrangements.

Ethel F. Haley, 88, of Falmouth, died at 1:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Luke Hospital East, Ft. Thomas. She was a retired seamstress and a former employee of Falmouth Shoe Factory. She was a member of Concord United Methodist Church, Pendleton County. Her husband, Joseph Hely, died in 1952.

Survivors include a brother, Harold Newkirk of Falmouth; sisters, Beulah West of Falmouth and Helen Stokes of Harrison, Ind.; two grandsons and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Bracken County. Memorials are suggested to Service International Relief Ministry of Missouri.

Linda Lee Hodges, 69, Covington, died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North in Covington.

Arrangements are pending at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Covington.

Pat Hopwood, 65, of Maysville, died at 9:30 p.m. Friday at Villa Georgetown in Georgetown. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Dan L. Hopwood, preceded her in death.

Survivors include sons, Jerry McCarty and Thomas Kendell, both of Maysville; brothers, Bill Howard of Maysville, Charles Howard of Cleveland and Raymond Howard; sisters, Fran Sears, Lucy Howard and Phyllis Couch, all of Hamilton, Ohio, Betty Daniels of Cleveland, and Linda Neefe of West Virginia; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Brell and Son Funeral Home, Maysville. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Mt. Tabor Cemetery, Ewing.

Hattie M. Humphrey, 73, of Highland Heights, died Saturday at St. Luke Hospital East, Ft. Thomas. She was a retired employee with Procter & Gamble, Cincinnati, and a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Covington. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star and Lakeside Terrace Social Club.

Survivors include daughters, Jo Ann Joiner of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Paulette Collins of Cold Spring; a stepson, David Humphrey of Chattanooga; a sister, Rozella Crouch of Covington; brothers, James Stephens of Butler, Harry Stephens of Falmouth and Dwayne Stephens of Texas; and five grandchildren.

Services will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Radel Funeral Home, Highland Heights. Visitation will be from 4 to 7:30 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.

Ruth Clair Jacob, 91, of Ft. Thomas, died at 6:35 a.m. Saturday at her home. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Joseph Charles Jacob, died in 1989. A daughter, Joan Jacob Horney, died in 1970.

Survivors include a son, Donald J. Jacob of Ft. Thomas; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Thomas Church, Ft. Thomas. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Ft. Thomas. Prayers will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Ft. Thomas. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Northern Kentucky, 1403 Alexandria Pike, Ft. Thomas, Ky. 41075.

Joseph Kremer, 24, of Alexandria, died Saturday near Waterworks Drive in Ft. Thomas of a gunshot wound. He was a welder with the Paragon Co., Cincinnati.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Sheryl and Ralph Class of Alexandria; his father, Joseph Kremer of Alexandria; a stepbrother, Ralph Class Jr. of Falmouth; stepsisters, Lea Class of Alexandria and Kimberly MacMahon of Cold Spring; sisters, Lisa Tipton and Joni Teegarden, both of Alexandria, and Jamie Kremer of California, Ky.; and a grandmother, Stella Kremer of Ft. Thomas.

Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Second Twelve Mile Baptist Church, Peach Grove. Burial will be in Alexandria Cemetery. Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick, is handling arrangements.

Eldon R. Mann, 64, of Morning View, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. He was a warehouse man with Miami Margarine Co., Cincinnati, and a Navy veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Judith Gleason Mann; sons, Harold Mann of Dry Ridge and Chris Mann of Taylor Mill and one grandchild.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Cecilia Cemetery, Independence.

Clara McCormick, 89, of Winchester, formerly of Latonia, died at 4 a.m. today at the Winchester Health Care Center, Winchester.

Arrangements are pending at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia.

Sue A. Ruschell, 68, of Villa Hills, died Sunday at her home.

Arrangements are pending at Linnemann Funeral Home.

James Matthew Tolliver, 74, of Covington, died at 2:57 a.m. Saturday at Maysville Extended Care Center after a brief illness. He was a receiving clerk with the Internal Revenue Service, Covington, and a former employee of the U.S. Postal Service. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II. His wife, Ada Mae Sizemore Tolliver, died in 1996.

Survivors include a son, David Tolliver of Bracken County; daughters, Sue Wood of Taylor Mill, Janice Cook of Elsmere and Gail Davis of Covington; a sister, Sharon Tolliver of Raleigh, N.C.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell.

Delores Turner, 64, of Covington, died Sunday at the St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit in Covington.

Arrangements are pending with Don Catchen and Son Funeral Home, Covington.

Sara Dean Waddell, 89, of Marion, formerly of Ft. Thomas, died Saturday at Crittenden County Hospital in Marion. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Ewell E. Waddell, died in 1967.

Survivors include sons, Donald E. Waddell of Huntington, N.Y., William R. Waddell of Norfolk, Va., and Phillip D. Waddell of Germantown, Tenn.; a sister, Lucy Cobb of Marion; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate. Visitation will begin there at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Memorials are suggested to Juvenile Diabetes Association, 10901 Reed Hartman Highway, Cincinnati, Ohio 45242; or First Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 220 S. Ft. Thomas Ave., Ft.
