Arthur Dorman, veteran
Arthur Judson Dorman was a patriotic man who joined the U.S. Navy as a Seabee during World War II, after he was initially denied entrance into the military because of his age.
Mr. Dorman was 31 when he joined the Seabees, the construction battalion of the Navy.
A sister, Betty Susan Jones, of Taylor Mill, said joining the Seabees was Mr. Dorman's way of fighting for liberty.
"The highlight of his life was World War II.
He helped to build the airstrip that was used in bombing Japan, " she said.
Mr. Dorman, 83, of Taylor Mill, died at 5:58 a.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood.
The retired salesman was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Taylor Mill, the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society, Taylor Mill Senior Citizens and the Good Faith Masonic Lodge, Erlanger.
His wife, Lila Dorman, died in 1989.
Mr. Dorman was a native of Northern Kentucky who later moved to Florida.
He returned to live with his sister after his wife died.
"He was quiet and gentle and kind.
He was always willing to help someone and always tried to give to charities, " Mrs. Jones said.
Mr. Dorman worked until he was about 76.
He also leaves a stepson, Alton Marshall of Orlando, Fla.; sister, Jeanette Hope Jenkins of Latonia; a step-grandchild and a step-great-grandchild.
Services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia, with visitation from at 1 p.m.
Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens, Forest City, Fla.

Russell Beagle, 73, of Cordova, died Wednesday at his home after an extended illness.
He was a retired farmer and a member of Marcus Crooked Creek Baptist Church, Berry.
He was a member of Colonel Clay Lodge No. 159 F&AM, Covington, and a member of Indra Consistory Scottish Rite, Covington.
Survivors include his wife, Peachie Wolf Beagle; a son, Terry Beagle of Berry; and one grandson.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown, with visitation from 11 a.m.
Burial will be in Pythian Grove Cemetery, Berry.

Alta M. Buckley, 79, of Independence, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
She was a homemaker.
Her husband, Claude Buckley, died in 1992.
Survivors include a son, Darrell Buckley of Independence; and sisters, Shirley James of Burlington, Berniece Nunnelley of Covington and Quendolyn Gardt of Florence.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence, with visitation from 10 a.m.
Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.
William Franklin "Wild" Cain, 41, of Ryland Heights, died Tuesday at home.

Donald Greene, 57, of Newport, died Wednesday at Communicare of Clifton Nursing Home, Cincinnati.

Mildred M. Hale, of Villa Hills, died at 1:10 p.m. Tuesday at Madonna Manor nursing home in Villa Hills.

Maude Hughes, 87, of Middletown, Ohio, formerly of Florence, died Tuesday at Garden Manor Nursing Home, Middletown.
She was a retired factory worker with Dolly Madison Baking Co.
Her husband, Howard Hughes, died in 1992.
A son, Charles Hughes, died in 1996. Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Varadi of West Chester, Ohio; a sister, Ora Cowan of Somerset; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Don Catchen and Son Funeral Home, Elsmere.
Visitation will begin there at noon Friday.
Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell.
Marilyn Hope Jacob, 57, of Falmouth, died Tuesday at Morgan Family Care Home, Pendleton County.

George William Miller, 90, of Dayton, died Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Ft. Thomas.
He was a retired machine operator with Heekin Can Co., Cincinnati, and a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Latonia.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Elizabeth Miller; a son, William M. Miller of Covington; and two grandchildren.

Diane Mary Diones Soriano, 53, of Covington, died Tuesday at University Medical Center, Lexington.
She was a records clerk with the Internal Revenue Service, Covington, and a former secretary for the Navy in Hawaii.
She was a member of St. Patrick Church, Taylor Mill, and the church Altar Society.
Her husband, Patrick C. Soriano, died in 1983.
Survivors include a son, Michael E. Diones of London, Ky.; a daughter, Selene S. Pope of Covington; brothers, Ronald Diones and Stanley Diones, both of Sacramento, Calif.; sisters, Marilyn Oliveira of Oahu, Hawaii and Linda Tuzera of Molokai, Hawaii; and one grandchild.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Patrick Church, with visitation from 1 p.m.
Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Pearl City, Hawaii.

Sister Dorothy Weber, 79, of Clinton, Iowa, formerly of Maysville, died Tuesday at the Alverno Nursing Home in Clinton, Iowa.
She was a member of the Sisters of St. Francis in Clinton, Iowa.
Survivors include brothers, the Rev. Charles E. Weber of Covington and James A. Weber of Maysville; and sisters, Catherine Moehring of Erlanger and Mathilda Welsh of Maysville.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the motherhouse chapel of the Sisters of St. Francis, Clinton, Iowa.

Patricia Sue Wilson, 48, of Highland Heights, died Monday at her home.
Survivors include sons, Eric Ziegler of Alexandria and David Ziegler of California; a brother, Jerry Crawford of Elizabethtown; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Ft. Thomas, with visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday.
