Eugene B. Meyer, gave back to city
The exhaustive list of organizations Eugene "Gene" B. Meyer worked for make plain what family members said was a guiding principal of the Covington native's life: a devotion to the community he loved.
First as a firefighter and later as a member of numerous boards, Mr. Meyer continuously gave back to the city where he lived all his years with the exception of his service in World War II.
"He really enjoyed it. He was a very active citizen. It was something he just enjoyed doing, " said his son Joe Meyer, of Covington, a former state senator.

He was a former owner of Inspection Agency of Northern Kentucky in Latonia.
His marriage to Dolores T. Muldoon Meyer lasted 56 happy years.
An avid hunter, Mr. Meyer belonged to the Campbell County Game and Fish Club and took his family on countless hunting, fishing and camping trips.
"He was a dad who was very proud of all of us. We were everything to him. He was always there for us and to give us anything we needed. He supported everything we did, " said his daughter Lynn List, of Taylor Mill.
Mr. Meyer was also a member of Holy Cross Church in Latonia.
