Ruple C. Richards, 95, owned local pharmacy
The pharmacist who served customers in downtown Covington and Over-the-Rhine for decades with patience and understanding has died.
Ruple C. Richards, 95, of Covington, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington.
He was owner of Avenue Pharmacy in Covington and worked in local pharmacies until he was 82.
The Covington pharmacy featured a soda fountain and personalized service from Mr. Richards.
"He was very good. He was very patient. He was very understanding. He was a good pharmacist and a good father, " said his daughter, Pam Richards Menefee of Covington.
After the pharmacy was torn down to build a parking lot, Mr. Richards worked for other pharmacies, Menefee said.
He worked at Noiman Pharmacy near Findlay Market at the time of his retirement about 13 years ago.
He was a member of Madison Avenue Christian Church in Covington.
His wife of 50 years, Theo Kennedy Richards, died in 2001.
In addition to his daughter, he is survived by two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill.
Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.

Virginia G. Berhiet, 93, of Fort Wright, died Wednesday at St. Charles Care Center, Covington. She was a retired secretary with St. Timothy Church, Union, and a member of Ladies Auxiliary Knights of St. John No. 63, Bellevue. Her husband, Sylvester G. Berhiet, died in 1994.
Survivors include a daughter, Margaret Kenkel of Edgewood; sons, Jerold Berhiet of Lakeland, Fla., James Berhiet of Goodyear, Ariz., and Michael Berhiet of Little Rock, Ark.; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at noon Saturday at St. Timothy Church, Union.
Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Saturday. Memorials are suggested to St. Charles Care Center, 500 Farrell Drive, Covington, Ky. 41011.

Louise Sylvia Connett, 88, of Southgate, died Wednesday at St. Charles Care Center, Covington.
She was a clerk with McAlpin's department stores and a member of St. Therese Church, Southgate.
Her husband, Clifford B. Connett, died in 1957.
A daughter, Dixie Lee Spegal, died in 2000.
Survivors include sisters, Irene Harold of Cincinnati, Juanita Miller of New Orleans and Virginia Molen; a brother, Leonard West of Dayton, Ohio; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Therese Church. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at A.C. Dobbling and Son Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas.
Glenn Andrew Doolin, 57, of Union, died Wednesday at his home. He was a farmer and a member of Boone-Union Masonic Lodge No. 304 F&AM.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Doolin; sons, Jarrod Doolin and John Doolin, both of Union; a daughter, Julie Doolin of Union; his mother, Sue Doolin of Union; a brother, Eugene Doolin of Union; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.

George Frederick Elwers, 82, of Burlington, died Sunday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence.
He was a public relations worker with Mason Madison Agency.
Survivors include his wife, Nadine Elwers; a son, George Anthony Elwers of San Diego; daughters, Allison Hale of Menlo Park, Calif., and Andrea Hannahan of Maineville, Ohio; sisters, Katheryn Elwers of Madison, Wis., and Dr. Mona Bar-Sela of Houston; and six grandchildren.
Services have already been held. Cremation will be at Northern Kentucky Cremation Service.

Dorothy Garrison, 78, of Florence, died Thursday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence.
She was a homemaker and a member of Heritage Assembly of God Church, Florence.
A son, Jerry Blackburn, and stepdaughter, Sandra Sarah, both preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Ray Garrison; a son, Michael Garrison of Burlington; a daughter, Ona Rae Garrison of Florence; a stepson, Johnny Garrison of Erlanger; a stepdaughter, Debra Jerauld of Erlanger; a brother, Allen Blackburn of Burlington; sisters, Lucille Kennedy of North Carolina and Francis Raney of Burlington; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Belleview Cemetery.
Donald John Greene, 75, of Owenton, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
He was a retired welder and a member of Florence Baptist Church and Bradford Masonic Lodge, Independence.
Survivors include a brother, Dorman Greene, and sister, Katherine Caldwell, both of Williamstown.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at McDonald & New Funeral Home, Main Street location, Owenton.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight, with Masonic services at 7:30 p.m., at the funeral home.

Jo Anne DiBo Hoh, 64, of Perry Park, died Wednesday at Carroll County Memorial Hospital, Carrollton. She was a homemaker and a retired executive officer with Bluegrass Supply Co.
She was a member of St. John Church in Carrollton and the Perry Park Country Club, and a former member of both the St. Elizabeth Hospital Auxiliary and Summit Hills Country Club.
Survivors include her husband, John J. Hoh Sr.; a daughter, Rene L. Wolf of Orlando, Fla.; sons, Andre E. Hoh of Perry Park and John J. Hoh Jr. of Perry Park; sisters, Mary Alice Whitaker of Somerset and Deborah L. DiBo of Vero Beach, Fla.; and seven grandchildren.

Karl K. Kaucher, 90, of Burlington, died Wednesday at his home. He was a retired maintenance foreman with General Electric, Cincinnati, and a member of Alexandria Lodge No. 154 F&AM and Elhasa Shriners Valley of Ashland.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth "Betty" Kaucher; a son, Karl R. Kaucher of Taylor Mill; a brother, Paul Kaucher of Covington; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at noon Saturday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow.
Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.
Clarence LaFollette, 71, of Independence, died Thursday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence.
Arrangements are pending at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Crittenden.
Kevin "Whitey" Thomas Lawrence, 38, of Dry Ridge, died Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
He was a concrete worker with Woodyard Construction Co. and was a member of Pendleton County Motor Cross.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Keller Lawrence; a son, Kevin Thomas Lawrence Jr. of Dry Ridge; a daughter, Michelle Doyen of Dry Ridge; his mother, Janice Dills of Dry Ridge; brothers, Rusty Lawrence and Patrick Dills, both of Dry Ridge; and sisters, Susan Lawrence Byrd of Goshen, Ohio, and Megan Dills of Dry Ridge.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Eckler-Hudson Funeral Home, Dry Ridge.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hill Crest Cemetery, Dry Ridge.
