Patricia Butts, bank manager, loved people
Patricia Butts was a very outgoing person who liked being around people, said her son-in-law, Bill Voelker of Alexandria.
Mrs. Butts, who died on Sunday, had a group of friends from high school whom she still socialized with, right until her death at age 81.
She and her late husband, Chester, who died in 1998, loved to play golf together and to take trips with friends.
"She was a lot of fun to be around, " Voelker said.
The Alexandria resident grew up in Newport. Her father sold fruit at the Findlay Market in Cincinnati for 30 or 40 years, Voelker said.
Her mother was a former president of the old Newport Public Library board of directors in the late '40s and early '50s. Mrs. Butts followed in her mother's footsteps, serving on the Campbell County Library board of directors.
She also worked as a branch manager for the former Kentucky Enterprise Federal Savings and Loan in Alexandria, before its merger with Fifth Third Bank.
But her great love was painting. She studied art, and liked to paint barns and outdoor scenes, Voelker said.
