Christopher Robert Steiner, age 29, of Hudson, WI passed away suddenly and unexpectedly, Saturday, June 1, 2002. Chris was born December 16, 1972 in Stillwater, MN. He was the son of Robert and Judy (Klaeker) Steiner. He received his elementary and high school education in Hudson and graduated from the University of Wisconsin Stout in 1998, where he played football, and received a degree in Hospitality and Tourism. He worked for Qwest as a Computer Network Engineer. On January 20, 1996 he wed Jami Petrasek at Bethel Lutheran Church in Hudson, WI. Chris, a free-spirit, was a generous, loving husband, and devoted father. He enjoyed motorcycling, computers, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving wife Jami, son Christopher Jacob “C.J.”, age 6, and daughter Alivia Chloe, age 10 months, parents Bob and Judy Steiner of Hudson, his brothers Chad (Jennifer) of Hudson, Bobby (fiancé’ Casey Beninati) of Chicago, IL., Grandmother Mary Steiner of Hudson, Aunt Pat Cameron of Hudson, Godson Payton Steiner, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his son Gabriel James. Chris’s free spirit, winning smile, and loving way will be missed by everyone. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday June 6, 2002 at Bethel Lutheran Church, Pastor Dennis Nelson officiating. Visitation will be 4:30-8:00 PM at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson and one hour prior to service time at the church on Thursday.

Travis Frederick Peterson, 20, of Roberts, passed away Thursday May 30, 2002 in Hammond.

Travis Frederick Peterson, 20, of Roberts, passed away Thursday May 30, 2002 in Hammond. Travis was born April 12, 1982 in Hudson, WI, the son of Thomas F. Peterson and Elizabeth A. Sarafolean. He attended Hudson Elementary School and graduated from St. Croix Central High School, Class of 2000. Travis was known as “Pizza Man” at the St. Croix Central Elementary School because he worked at Carbone’s as the pizza delivery guy. He enjoyed basketball, horse back riding, music, fishing, and he was a Ford Truck Fan. Travis was always clowning around and full of fun. Spending time with his family and friends was very important to him. Survivors are his father Thomas F. (Tammi Dunn) Peterson, mother Elizabeth A. (Fred Kamm) Sarafolean, his sisters and brother Rebecca Sarafolean, Destiny and Cody Peterson all of Roberts, grandmothers Phyllis Marek and Darlene Dunn, many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Dorethea and Charles Peterson, maternal grandfather Daniel Sarafolean. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday June 4, 2002 at Roberts Congregational United Church of Christ in Roberts with Pastor David Watson officiating. Burial to follow in Warren Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Monday June 3, 2002 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson, WI, and one hour prior to service time at the church on Tuesday. Casketbearers were Kyle Drinkwine, Matthew Drinkwine, Benjamin Stuart, Samuel Stuart, Jonathan Strate, Joshua Tainter, Daniel Korbel and James Quilling. Serving as Honorary Casketbearers were all of his cousins. Services are entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson, WI.

Mryna Gaustad, age 67 of Baldwin died suddenly Thursday, May 30, 2002 at the Baldwin Area Medical Center where she had been a patient for a short time.

Myrna Gaustad age 67 of Baldwin died suddenly Thursday May 30, 2002. Myrna was born on July 12, 1934 in Spring Lake Township in Pierce County; the daughter of Andrew and Abigal Ruth (Hines) Kahler. She received her education in New Richmond. On March 4, 1950, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Gaustad at St. Patrick’s Church in Erin Prairie. This union would be blessed with nine children; Bonnie, Barbara, Nancy, Michael, Randy, Steven, Kenneth, Brian, and Christine. Many knew Myrna through her cooking abilities as a cook for the Baldwin Hospital. She worked for the hospital for 27 years prior to her retirement in 2000. Myrna enjoyed gardening; both vegetable and flower. She also enjoyed crafts and belonged to the local Homemaker’s Club. She also enjoyed dancing and music. It was at a local dance where Kenneth and Myrna first met. Myrna is survived by her husband Kenneth, children Bonnie Manning of Newport, MN., Barbara (Richard) Hollerung of Cottage Grove, MN., Nancy (Duane) Monson of Apple Valley, MN., Michael (Patti) Gaustad of Bay City, WI., Randy (Donna) Gaustad of Spring Valley, Steven (Joy) Gaustad of Clayton, WI., Kenneth (Mary) Gaustad of Hammond, Brian Gaustad of Spring Valley, Christine (Paul) Fellman of Ellsworth, WI., 12 grandchildren Rodney, Brenda, Gina, Nichole, Daniel, David, Jason, Ashley, Sarah, Emma, Amanda, Dustin, 7 great grandchildren Megan, Jessica, Nick, Cecelia, Rachel, Christina, Brittany, brothers Walter (Eva) Kahler, Vincent (Florence) Kahler, Robert (Betty) Kahler, Donald (Adeline) Kahler, sisters Arlene Gossens, and Dorothy (Wilbur) Otto. She is preceded in death by her sister Jean Klee and brother Chester Kahler. Funeral service was Monday June 3rd at Gethsemane Lutheran Church. Pastor Leon D. Draayer of the First Reformed Church officiated. Organist Dewey Kuhn accompanied congregational singing. Burial was in the Baldwin Cemetery. Memorials are preferred. Funeral services were entrusted to the OConnell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin.

Adam Douglas Cronk, 7, passed away Sunday May 26, 2002 at his home in Woodville, Baldwin Township.

Adam was born in Baldwin, WI, September 14, 1994 the son of Bryan L. and Lisa C. (Merritt) Cronk. He grew up in Baldwin and attended CDS Program, St. Croix Central in the kindergarten class. Adam was lovingly taken care of by family and his hospice nurse Karin Jarosch. Adam loved being outside with his brother and sister, he enjoyed Alex and Andrea climbing over him and horsing around. Adam enjoyed anyone with an open lap so they could cuddle him. His favorite movie was the Lion King, music, playing with his brother’s trucks and cars, drawing smiley face stick people. He is survived by his parents Bryan and Lisa, sister Andrea, brother Alex all of Baldwin; maternal grandparents Jerome (Julianne) Merritt of Menomonie; paternal grandparents Gary (Janice) Cronk of Menomonie; several aunts, uncles and cousins; maternal great grandmother Harriet Merritt of Amery; paternal great grandfather Waldo Cronk of Menomonie, paternal great grandmother Madge Cronk of River Falls and paternal great grandmother Dorothy Deringer of Menomonie Funeral services for Adam will be 11:00 AM, Saturday June 1, 2002 at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Baldwin, WI, with Pastor Paul Lovestrand officiating, organist will be Victoria Lovestrand and soloist is Angie Merritt. Burial will be in the Baldwin Cemetery. Denise Brown, Randi Cronk, Mark Harnisch, and Karin Jarosch will serve as casketbearers. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Friday May 30, 2002 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Baldwin. The family has entrusted O’Connell Family Funeral Home with arrangements.

Barriault, Delore age 85 of Glenwood City died July 27.

Delore Joseph “Frenchy” Barriault Jr., age 85 of Glenwood City, died Saturday evening July 27, 2002 at the Baldwin Area Medical Center. Delore was born on December 26, 1916 in Somerset, Wisconsin; the son of Delore and Louise (Parent) Barriault. He received his schooling at the Apple River School. On October 17, 1942, he was united in marriage to Marion Ruth Jasperson at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Somerset. This union would be blessed with five children Delore “Cutty”, Gerald, Keith, Marie, Margaret, and Ann. Delore and Marion farmed for many years outside of Glenwood City for nearly 50 years. Although dairy farming was a love of Delore, he also worked in construction where he helped build I-94, and River Falls, Woodville, and Glenwood City Schools. Furthermore, he worked several years as an aide for the Dunn County Health Care Center in Menomonie. Delore enjoyed the outdoors; especially hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed vegetable gardening and sharing his bumper crops with family and friends. Of his hobbies, woodworking, such as making birdhouses, was one of his favorites. Delore is survived by his wife 59 years Marion, children Delore “Cutty” (Sandra) Barriault of Glenwood City, Gerald (Erlene) Barriault of Hudson, Marie (Al) Barriault-Bannink of Clear Lake, Margaret (Charles) Wulf of Stone Lake, 12 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, sisters Anna Belisle of Somerset, Mary Roos of Watertown, SD., and Yvonne Bergeron of Lakeland, MN. He is preceded in death by his infant son Keith sisters Rose Moe, Emma Joyce, Louise Moe, brother Edward Barriault, step brothers Roland L’Allier, Charlamagne L’Allier, and Paul L’Allier. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11AM Wednesday July 31, 2002 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church of Erin Prairie, WI. Father Al Bradley will officiate. Burial will be in the Holy Rosary cemetery in Cylon, WI. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4 until 8PM with a prayer service at 7:30PM at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin.

ONeil, Florence age 94 of Baldwin died July 28.

Florence Marie O’Neil (Nee Bolier) age 94 of Baldwin and formerly of Eau Claire, died early Sunday morning July 28, 2002 at the Baldwin Care Center where she had been a patient. Florence was born on April 3, 1908 in Baldwin, Wisconsin; the daughter of Fred and Dehlia (Duhamel) Bolier. She received her elementary education in Minneapolis and Montana prior to graduating from the Baldwin High School. She would earn her teacher’s certificate at the River Falls Normal School in 1929. On July 14, 1933, she was united in marriage to F. Eugene “Red” O’Neil. This union would be blessed with one son; F. Eugene “Gene”. For the majority of their married life, the couple resided in Eau Claire. Florence served as ward secretary for Luther Hospital for 25 years. Her husband would precede her in death in 1975. Following his death, Florence lived in Glendale, Arizona for nearly 20 years prior to making Baldwin her home. Florence was an avid reader. She also enjoyed gardening, swimming, and traveling. One of her greatest memories came from traveling to Hawaii. Many would benefit from Florence’s work with children as a swimming instructor and advisor for the Scouts and Campfire Girls. Those celebrating Florence’s life are her son F. Eugene and wife Sandy O’Neil of Shoreview, MN, grandchildren Michael (Suzanne Busse) O’Neil, Steven (Kellene) O’Neil, David (Betty) O’Neil, Sara (Richard) Fish, great grandchildren Rebecca, Katherine, Madeline, Nicholas, Megan, and loving sisters Edith Nelson of Baldwin, Marjorie Gavin of California, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband F. Eugene, sisters Hazel Mallongree, Evelyn Norwick, brothers Lloyd and Donald Bolier. Funeral Celebration of Life will be 11AM Wednesday July 31, 2002 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin. Burial will be in the Baldwin cemetery with her family serving as casketbearers. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at O’Connell Family Funeral Home on Wednesday. Memorials preferred.

Mayer, Ruth age 86 of HUdson died July 25.

Ruth Toppy Mayer age 86 of Hudson, passed away Thursday July 25, 2002 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday July 29, 2002 at OConnell Family Funeral Home in Hudson, visitation will be one hour prior to service time. Burial will be in Willow River Cemetery, Hudson, WI. Complete obituary to follow.

Wiegele, Daniel age 48 of Afton died July 21.

Daniel Paul Wiegele, 48 of Afton, Minnesota died Sunday July 21, 2002 at his home in Afton surrounded by his loving family. Daniel was born on November 11, 1953 in St. Paul, Minnesota; the son of Arthur and Marcella (Pothen) Wiegele. He graduated from Park High School in St. Paul. He is survived by his partner Kevin Grewe, sons Erik and Christopher, his mother Marcella, brother Stephen (Sharon) Wiegele, Terry (Cindy) Wiegele, Richard (Cindy) Wiegele, sisters Paula (Greg) Gozzi, Shelly (Tom) Eckert, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, as well as the extended family of Kevin Grewe. Daniel was preceded in death by his father Arthur, maternal and paternal grandparents. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Thursday, July 25, 2002 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Lake St. Croix Beach, Minnesota. Burial will be in Cottage Grove cemetery in Cottage Grove, MN. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4-8 PM at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 So. 11th Street, Hudson, WI 715-386-3725 and one hour prior to service time at the church on Thursday.

Hoolihan, Philip age 64 of Hudson died July 18.

Philip Thomas Hoolihan age 64 of Hudson, formerly of Roberts, WI died Thursday evening July 18, 2002. Philip was born on December 11, 1937 in St. Paul, MN the son of Gordon and Margaret (Lundgren) Hoolihan. He received his elementary education at Maddox and graduated from Monroe High School, both of St. Paul. Following high school, he advanced his education at St. Paul Vocational School, earning his four-year sheet metal journeyman and one-year draftsman education. Philip served in the Air National Guard from 1957 to 1960. On June 6, 1958, he was united in marriage to Ardith Ann Klingman in Amrillo, Texas. He worked several years for Albers in St. Paul working as a Draftsman. Prior to Albers, he worked for Como Specialty and MM Peasley. He retired from the industry in 1993 as a result of a work related injury. He was a member of Sheet Metal Workers Local 10 for 38 years. Philip enjoyed his cars, especially his convertible. Philip although very modest, took great pride in his drafting accomplishments. He helped design his own home and helped design his children's home projects. He worked very hard on his home including mechanical and yard work. First and foremost to him was his family. He always took time tending to their needs, supporting their projects and celebrating their events. His family gave him the ultimate pleasure. Moreover, he is a past member of the Roberts Lions Club and enjoyed going to the movies. He is survived by his wife Ardith of Hudson, four children: Belinda (Donald) Dalton of New Richmond, WI, Craig (Lenore) Hoolihan of Hudson, Becky (Tim) Hawkins of Woodbury, MN, Chris (Christy) Hoolihan of Roberts, WI; grandchildren: Jake, Zach, Lydia, Josh, Taylor, Haley, Hope, Heidi, Hunter, brother: Jim Hoolihan of White Bear Lake, MN, Aunt Evelyn Anderson of Sun City, AR and nephew Tom Hoolihan of Mpls, MN. His parents preceded him in death. Funeral Celebration of Life will be 1:00PM Tuesday, July 23, 2002 at The O' Connell Family Funeral Home, Hudson, WI. Visitation precedes the funeral on Monday, July 22, 2002 from 5 until 8 PM at The O'Connell Family Funeral Home. The officiating Pastor for the funeral celebration will be Dennis Nelson. Burial will be in the Willow River cemetery in Hudson, WI. The casket bearers will be Craig Hoolihan, Chris Hoolihan, Donald Dalton, Tim Hawkins, Tom Hoolihan and Jim Hoolihan. Memorials are preferred.

Finn, John age 53 of Hudson died July 17th.

John Gerard Michael Finn age 53 of Hudson died Wednesday morning at United Hospital in St. Paul, Minneapolis. John was born on May 22, 1949 in Minneapolis, Minnesota; the son of James H. and Marion A. (Reinhardt) Finn. He received his elementary education at Brookings, S.D. and graduated from the Brookings High School in 1967. He furthered his education at Marquette University and St. John’s College degrees in Philosophy, Theology, and Psychology. He earned his Master’s Degree from South Dakota State University in Guidance and Counseling. On July 2, 1983, he was united in marriage to Mary Langenfeld at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Rapid City, SD. The couple lived in Brookings, S.D. prior to moving to Hudson in 1985. While in South Dakota, John owned and operated Sound Station 7 music and record shop. After moving to Hudson, he worked for McGraw-Hill Publishing and Sales Management from 1985 to 2002. John is survived by his wife Mary, daughter Maggie, parents James and Marion Finn of Brookings, SD., siblings Jim Finn of Milwaukee, WI., Mary (Jack) Perroni of Colorado Springs, CO., Dan (Lynne) Finn of Brookings, SD., Patti (Hal) Knecht of White Bear Lake, MN., father-in-law John Langenfeld of Rapid City, SD., sister/brother in laws Theresa (Dominic) Ruscio of Denver, Co., Catherine (Jeff) Perry of Huron, SD., John (Elaine) Langenfeld of New Brunswick, NJ., Gretchen (Andre) Clayborne of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Fran (Dave) Henderson of Rapid City, SD., Ann (Jon) Kellar of Rapid City, SD., Jennifer (Michael) Lande of Skokie, ILL., as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. John is preceded in death by his infant brother Leo and motherinlaw Margaret “Peggy” Langenfeld. Casketebearers are Dan Finn, Jim Finn, Jack Peronni, Hal Knecht, Craig Hegdahl, Teresa Lyons-Hegdahl, Chris Denton, and Carolyn Denton. Interment will be in the St. Patrick’s Catholic cemetery in Hudson. Visitation will be held Friday from 5 until 7PM at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson. Memorials preferred. Funeral services are entrusted to the OConnell Family Funeral Home of Hudson.

Franklin, Naomi age 62 of Roberts died July 17.

Naomia Louise Franklin, age 62 of Roberts, died July 18, 2002 at the River Falls Area Medical Center after brought to the emergency room by ambulance of a sudden cardiac arrest. Naomia was born on January 26, 1940 in Elmwood, Wisconsin; the daughter of Leo and Margaret (Bates) Schaffner. She attended elementary school in Elmwood and graduated from Elmwood High School. Following this, she received on site training at a Minneapolis Hospital for a degree as a Licensed Practioner Nurse. Upon earning her degree, she began working for children’s Hospital in St. Paul. She was ever so proud of her 38 years of working at Children’s and working with children. In 1961, she was married to Michael Harmon. This marriage would bring two daughters; Marcia and Suzette. It would later end in divorce. In 1991, she was united in marriage Timothy Franklin. The couple has resided in Roberts during their marriage. She enjoyed sewing; especially quilts. Fishing, camping, and spending time at their Grand Rapids Cabin. She also enjoyed traveling. She loved spending time with her children and their as well as their children’s events. She is survived by husband Timothy, daughters Marcia (Dale) Halterman of Cottage Grove, MN., Suzette (Todd) Sherburne of Sioux Falls, SD., step sons Jay Allen Franklin of Hudson, Doug (Linda) Franklin of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Brad (Cindy) Franklin of Bethel, MN., four grandchildren Shawn and Cody Halterman, Elizabeth and Samantha Franklin, sister Denise (Vern) Chandler of Coon Rapids, MN., brothers Richard (Margaret) Schaffner of Prescott, and Jim (Mary Kay) Schaffner of Spring Valley, WI.. Her parents precede her in death. Funeral celebration of life will be 1PM Monday July 22, 2002 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson. Burial will be in the Warren cemetery in Roberts. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Monday at O’Connell’s. Memorials preferred. Funeral services entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson.

Jorgensen, Mara Jean and Shaelyn idenical twins stillborn daughters of Brian and Tammy (Mitchell) Jorgensen of Hammond died July 17.

Identical twins Mara Jean and Shaelyn June Jorgensen, died shortly after birth following complications of pregnancy at United Children’s Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota July 17, 2002. Mara and Shaelyn are the infant daughters of Brian Andrew and Tammy Theresa (Mitchell) Jorgensen of Hammond, WI., formerly of Hudson. They are survived by parents, sister Casey, maternal grandparents Terry (Beverly) Mitchell of Erin Prairie, WI., great grandparents Raymond (Betty) Mitchell of Erin Prairie, step grandfather Charles Briggs of New Richmond, WI., paternal grandparents Gregory Jorgensen of Afton, MN., Lorrie Jorgensen of St. Paul, great grandparents Jens (Anne) Jorgensen of Blaine, MN., Thomas (June) Pearson of St. Paul, as well as several aunts and uncles. Funeral service will be 7PM Tuesday July 23, 2002 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Erin Prairie Township. Father Al Bradley will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday evening. Memorials are preferred. Although they were on this earth for only a moment, they will touch our lives forever. Funeral services are entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin and Hudson.
