Gerald Mullins, former advertising executive
Gerald P. Mullins was an advertising executive with a wide range of interests.
That was perhaps best illustrated by the fact that he was a season subscriber to both the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and the Cincinnati Bengals.
"He is cherished by family and a lifelong legion of friends for his compassion, generosity and humor, " said a daughter, Lisa J. Mullins of Cov-ington.
"He was a fun-loving father and friend. He had a quick and arid dry wit that would have people doubled over with laughter."
Mr. Mullins, of Covington, died Thursday at the Christ Hospital in Cincinnati. He was 75.
Born in New York City, Mr. Mullins was the grandson of a more well-known native of the Big Apple: Charles F. Gulden, founder of Gulden's Mustard Co.
Mr. Mullins graduated from Cardinal Farley Military Academy in Rhinecliff, N.Y., and earned degrees in history and philosophy at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.
An Army veteran of the Korean War, he was an advertising executive with Time-Life in New York before moving to Cincinnati in 1964 to become advertising director of the Formica Corp.
"He wanted to raise his daughters in the Midwest, " said Lisa Mullins, who is executive director of Enjoy The Arts in Cincinnati.
Mr. Mullins worked at Formica about 17 years, then left in the early 1980s to open his own marketing and advertising consulting firm. He retired in 1994.
Mr. Mullins lived in Cincinnati's Hyde Park neighborhood for 38 years and then moved to Covington in 2002.
In addition to Lisa Mullins, he is survived by his devoted companion and former wife, Joan H. Mullins of Covington; daughters, Donna F. Mullins of Alexandria, Va., and Deirdre C. Mullins of Covington; a brother, Thomas F. Mullins Jr., of Point Pleasant, N.J.; four nieces and five nephews.
Mass of Christian burial will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no visitation.
Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery in the Bronx, N.Y.

Everett Douglas "Dazz" Commodore Sr., 56, of Covington, died Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. He was a retired tax examiner for the Internal Revenue Service Center, Covington, a former maintenance person for the Wiedemann Brewery Co., Newport, and a member of Jehovah's Witnesses Covington East Kingdom Hall, Taylor Mill.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Wells Commodore; sons Everett Douglas Commodore Jr. of Newport and Julian Commodore of Covington; a daughter, Melisa Dodds of Elsmere; brothers Ralph Commodore of Elsmere, William Commodore of Covington and Michael Commodore of Lexington; sisters Patricia Hall of Topeka, Kan., Sandra Wright of Lexington, and Julia Commodore, Mary Commodore, Carolyn Sleet, and Marlene Commodore, all of Covington; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Covington East Kingdom Hall, Taylor Mill. Visitation will begin there at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Cremation will be at Cincinnati Cremation Co., Clifton. Allison & Rose Funeral Home, Covington, is handling arrangements.
Frances Hofstetter, 87, of Alexandria, died at 5:05 p.m. Thursday at River Valley Nursing Home, Butler. She was the former owner and operator of the Fairfield Bakery, Bellevue, and the Butter Crust Bakery, Price Hill, Cincinnati.
Survivors include daughters Toni Nadicksbernd of Cleves, Ohio, Mary Lou Schmidt of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Ginny Scudder of California; a brother, Alphonse Esselman of Cincinnati; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Alexandria. Visitation will begin there at 11:30 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in Old St. Joseph Cemetery, Price Hill, Cincinnati. Alexandria Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Frances Fanny Holdcraft, 78, of Petersburg, died at 4:05 a.m. Friday at St. Elizabeth Hospice. She was a homemaker. Her husband, David N. Holdcraft Jr., died in 2002.
Survivors include a son, David N. Holdcraft III of Burlington; sisters Margie Loze of Hebron, Patsy Frank of Taylor Mill, and Betty Ranshaw of Moores Hill, Ind.; brothers Bob Holt and Perry Holt, both of Petersburg, Donald Holt of Moores Hill, Lee Holt of Point Pleasant and Jack Holt of Ludlow; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Naomi Louise Hoskins, 66, of Lakeland, Fla., formerly of Alexandria, died at 12:10 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph Baptist Hospital, Tampa, Fla. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, the Rev.. Harley "Sonny" Hoskins; a daughter, Bonita Regay Herrin of Bell, Fla.; a son, Randall A. Hoskins of Lakeland, Fla.; a daughter, Teresa Roberts of Albany, Ga.; and sisters Lanna Beasley of Cincinnati and the Rev. Ann Tucker of Hamilton, Ohio; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Church of God, Alexandria. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Alexandria Funeral Home. Burial will be in at Mount Gilead Cemetery, Carthage.
Clara Agnes O'Banion, 72, of Erlanger, died Thursday at her residence. She was a homemaker. Her husband, James O'Banion, died Aug. 15, 2003. Two sons, Gary O'Banion and Jimmy O'Banion, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughters Kathy Terrell of Florence, Peggy Barnes of Fort Mitchell, Angie Hagedorn of Crittenden, Penny Scott of Edgewood and Margie Kinney of Cincinnati; a son, Jessie O'Banion of Erlanger; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Timothy J. Quigley, 53, of Crescent Springs, died Friday at his residence. He was a systems analyst for 25 years and had a filed as a candidate for the 23rd state Senate District.
Survivors include his mother, Jane Mistler Quigley of Crescent Springs; sons Patrick Quigley of Covington, Jonathan Quigley of May Port, Fla., Keller and Hampton Quigley, both of Edgewood; brothers Mike Quigley of Independence, Jeff Quigley of Hebron and Kevin Quigley of Taylor Mill; and a sister, Malia Herzog of Taylor Mill.

Estella E. Salzer, 91, of Dayton, died Thursday at Mercy Franciscan Nursing Home, Cincinnati. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Bernard Church, Dayton. She worked for the Wadsworth Watchcase Co., the Masonic Temple and the St. Bernard's Mothers Club. Her husband, Richard H. Salzer, preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons Edward R. Salzer of Cincinnati and Jerry Salzer of Taylor Mill; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren,

Winston Sharp, 95, of Falmouth, died at 3:50 p.m. Friday at River Valley Nursing Home, Butler. He was a retired barber. Arrangements are pending at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth.
Gladysmae Sipes, 95, of Fort Thomas, died at 8:30 a.m. Friday at her residence. She was a homemaker.
Her husband, Paul J. Sipes, died in 1970.
Survivors include daughters, Marcia J. Sipes of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and Cynthia U. Moe of Atlanta, Ga.; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Jessie Lee "Jackie" Stull, of Latonia, died at 2:05 p.m. Thursday at Villa Spring of Erlanger. She worked for Overhead Door, Value City and Crosley Stadium.
She was a member of the American Legion, Latonia. Her husband, Sherman Stull, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a brother, Perry McCarty of Yakima, Wash., and several nieces and nephews.

Hailey Madison Wright Townsend, infant daughter of Pamela Jo Wright and William Christopher Townsend of Harrison County, was stillborn Wednesday at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include her grandparents, Jerry and Linda Wright, and Cynthia Baker and William E. Townsend, all of Harrison County; great-grandparents, Christine Wright of Harrison County and Bertha Baker of Nicolas County.

Betty Jean Tuemler, 81, of Alexandria, died Thursday at Woodcrest Manor Nursing Home, Covington. She was a homemaker. Her first husband, Vernon Tuemler, died in 1951. Her second husband, Robert Tuemler, died in 1982.
Survivors include daughters Gail DeMoss of Alexandria and Bonnie Korn of West Bloomfield, Mich.; a son, Leonard Tuemler of Danville, Ind.; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Bennie C. Warren, 75, of Covington, died at 8:40 p.m. Thursday at St. Luke East Hospital, Fort Thomas.
He was a former truck driver for Tucker Freight Lines. He was a member of Robert Burns F.& A.M. Lodge 163, O.E.S Gertrude No. 19 and Teamsters Local 100. He was a Shriner, a Kentucky Colonel and a member of the Northern Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame.
Survivors include daughters Deborah Canfield of Burlington, Janice Smith of Taylor Mill and Sharon Oehlmann of Covington; sons Mark Beers of Covington and Ricky Beers of Independence; brothers Jim Warren of Florence and Harold Warren of Harrodsburg; sisters Vivian Walden, Vera Horn and Gayleen Lahm; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Don Catchen & Son Funeral Home, Elsmere. Visitation will be there from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Taylor Mill.
Olvin Franklin Young, Jr. 86, of Walton, died Wednesday at Bethesda North Hospital, Cincinnati.
He was a retired supervisor for Cincinnati Gas & Electric Co., a member of the Presbyterian Church of Winchester and the Masonic Lodge, Walton Verona. He was a Shriner, a past chairman of the Walton-Verona Board of Education and a World War Army veteran.
His wife, Myrtle Thomas Young, died in 1996.
Survivors include daughters Judy Young Gilbert of Danville and Patsy Young Pennington of Florence; sisters, Claire Carter of Winchester and Ann Bonfield of Mount Sterling; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, Walton. Visitation will begin there at noon Monday.
