Floyd N. Burns, 82, worked as a chef
Floyd N. Burns baked a cake in the shape of a piano for Liberace and prepared meals for thousands of other folks in a long career as a chef.
Cooking just came naturally to him.
"Dad never had a cooking lesson in his life, " said Mr. Burns' daughter, Deborah Burns Woodruff of Florence. "He considered his work more of a hobby. He loved it that much."

In addition to cooking, Mr. Burns was an ice sculptor.
"Dad could take a block of ice and turn it into swans for use as a centerpiece at a banquet, " said Woodruff.
A veteran of World War II, Mr. Burns spent six years as a Navy cook.
He also cooked special meals for activities at Southside Baptist Church in Covington, where he was a deacon.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing and watching sports.
Mr. Burns tried to retire at age 75.
"It lasted six weeks, " said Woodruff. "He didn't like retirement. He liked cooking. When word got out that he was available again, he was asked to help out at the Cincinnati Club and at golf and country clubs in the area.
"He loved to be around people and to help people. He was a good, Christian man who worked hard all his life."
