George Landwehr, operated tool business, grocery store
Until his death, George William Landwehr operated a tool distributing company out of his home in Highland Heights.
"He sold tools to service stations, and he still called on a few of his businesses, " said his daughter, Robin Mallery of Highland Heights. "My mother still drove him around."
Mr. Landwehr died Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas. He was 85.
An Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he operated Landwehr's Grocery Store at 11th and Greenup streets in Covington for 14 years.
In 1958, he founded the George Landwehr Tool Distributing Co. He still had 16 business customers when he died.
Mr. Landwehr was a member of St. Joseph Church in Cold Spring and had been a Boy Scout leader for 35 years.
"He was a very humble and honest man, " said Mallery. "He was very funny. Humorous in a quiet way.
"Even up to the end, he had a sense of humor, and he was very sweet."
In addition to his daughter, he is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marion Ann Lemker Landwehr; sons, Ken Landwehr of Erlanger and David Landwehr of Alexandria; daughters, Diane Bolen and Linda Clutterbuck, both of Alexandria, and Karen Landwehr of Highland Heights; sisters, Katherine Landwehr of Fort Thomas and Antoinette Halpin of Taylor Mill; a brother, James Landwehr of Fort Thomas; and six grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Church in Cold Spring. Visitation will begin there at 10:30 a.m. Friday.
Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.

Sherd W. Barnett Sr., 76, of Elsmere, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a self-employed mechanic and a member of Boone-Union Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Syrian Shrine and the Florence Chapter Order of the Eastern Star. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Joanne Morton Barnett; a brother, Louis Barnett of West Lafayette, Ind., six sons, seven daughters, 27 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Big Bone Baptist Cemetery, Union. Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association, 333 Guthrie St., Suite 207, Louisville, Ky. 40202.
Mary B. Cress, 68, of Burlington, died Monday in Tijuana, Mexico. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, LaVerne Cress; a daughter, Kathy Poole; sons, Thomas Cress, Edwin Cress, Paul Cress and Tony Cress; her mother, Marie Pike; a brother, Robert Pike; a half-brother, Charles Ted Pike; a sister, Karen Rice; and nine grandchildren.

Neal Grady, 86, of Covington, died Tuesday at St. Charles Care Center, Covington. He was a retired credit manager with Jewish Hospital of Cincinnati.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille Lozier Grady; daughters, Peggy Holliday and Kathleen Grady; sons, Neal P. Grady and Timothy M. Grady; a brother, William Grady; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Gene B. Kidd, 74, of Union, died Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a meter reader with Cinergy, a member of Union Baptist Church, the Latonia Red Runners and Army Trailing Basketball Team and was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Kidd; sons, Douglas Kidd of Florence, Don Coleman of Fort Mitchell, Gregg Coleman of Louisville and Michael Coleman of Ocala, Fla.; brothers, Glenn "Whitey" Kidd of Latonia and Wayne Kidd of Union; sisters, Wanda Rauen of Fort Myers, Fla., and Christian Conley of Florence; and 10 grandchildren.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will begin there at noon Friday. Burial will be in Hopeful Lutheran Cemetery, Florence.

Joseph Edward Miller, 37, of Covington, died Monday at his home. He was a machinist with Atkins and Pearce Co., Covington.
Survivors include daughters, Tiffany A. Miller and Kari E. Miller, both of Highland Heights; his father, William J. Miller of Covington; a brother, Timothy A. Miller of Erlanger; and sister, Marsha L. Miller of Covington.

Vinson Wilson Neuspickle, 92, of Covington, died Tuesday at Rosedale Manor, Latonia. He was a retired, self-employed general contractor and a member of Visalia Baptist Church, Briar Hollow Beagle Club, Bradford Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite. His wife, Emma Trapp Neuspickle, died in 1983.
Survivors include a daughter, Emily Kay Mardis of Visalia; a son, Larry Douglas Neuspickle of Ryland Heights; a sister, Roberta Wells of Owenton; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Billy Webster, 67, of Falmouth, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
