Ruth Northcutt, bookkeeper, artist, improved flea collars
Ruth Jane Northcutt was a woman of numerous abilities that included keeping books for the family businesses, painting pictures of wildlife and conducting research aimed at keeping fleas off pets.
"She was multi-talented and very talented in all the things she did, " said Mrs. Northcutt's daughter, Patricia Adams, of Berry.
Mrs. Northcutt, 74, of Cynthiana, died Wednesday at her home. She and her husband of 29 years, Merrill Northcutt, who survives, owned several businesses in Harrison County.
"She did all the bookkeeping for the businesses on her kitchen table without a computer, " said Adams.
Mrs. Northcutt worked with the University of Kentucky and flea-collar manufacturers to help improve the effectiveness of collars to keep fleas off pets.
She was an artist who specialized in pencil sketches and oil paintings of wildlife and landscapes.
"When she thought it, she could draw it, she was just that good, " Adams said.
She also enjoyed flower gardening, hunting, fishing and collecting antiques.
Mrs. Northcutt participated in activities of New Hope Church of Christ in Pendleton County and helped establish church-related college scholarships.
"She was very outgoing and especially very giving to children, " said Adams.
Other survivors include a son, Larry Wells of Berry; stepsons, Brian Northcutt of Berry, and Robert Wells, Randy Northcutt, Donald Northcutt and Merrill Northcutt Jr., all of Cynthiana; stepdaughters, Ana Mae Brooks and Patsy Northcutt, both of Cynthiana; a brother, Wayne Teals of Colorado Springs, Colo.; sisters, Pauline Williams of Jacksonville, Fla., Wanda Hartin and Jewell Price, both of Cynthiana; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Woodhead Funeral Home, Berry. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pythian Grove Cemetery, Cynthiana. Delilah R. Gott Beane, 99, of Cincinnati, formerly of Latonia, died Monday in Niceville, Fla. She was a former member of Latonia Christian Church. Her husband, William Beane, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Rena Oliver of Destin, Fla.; two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Highland cemetery Chapel, Fort Mitchell. Visitation will begin there at 1 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Fermin "Pee Wee" Begnoche, 79, of Edgewood, died Monday at Villaspring Care Center, Erlanger. He was a retired self-employed contractor and owner of B.J. Construction Co., Edgewood, a member of St. Pius X Church in Edgewood and an Army veteran of World War II. His wife, Claire A. Begnoche, died in 1991.
Survivors include daughters Candice Trenkamp of Burlington, Wendy Matthews of Crittenden and Laura Volz of Florence; sons Brian Begnoche of Fort Thomas, Timothy Begnoche and Robert Begnoche, both of Edgewood, Buddy Begnoche of Lakeside Park, Donald Begnoche of Hebron and David Begnoche of Sarasota, Fla.; brothers Lawrence Begnoche and Pat Begnoche, both of Middlebury, Vt.; a sister, Muriel Blythe of Courtland, Va.; 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Pius X Church, Edgewood. Visitation will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Lillian Rose Berling, 89, of Lakeside Park, died at 4:48 p.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a homemaker and a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, Fort Mitchell. Her husband, Robert A. Berling Sr., died in 1992.
Survivors include a daughter, Jeanine Goetz of Florence; a son, Robert A. Berling Jr. of Edgewood and five grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Blessed Sacrament Church, Fort Mitchell. Visitation will begin there at 8:30 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. David P. Carson, 44, of Cincinnati, died at 4:31 a.m. Tuesday in a motorcycle accident in Bond Hill. He was a machinist with Valco Inc., Cincinnati.
Survivors include his wife, Deborah Creech Carson; a son, Jacob Carson of Cincinnati; his mother, Marion Metzinger Carson of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; his father and stepmother, Edward and Anita Carson of Oceana, Calif.; sisters Diana Olsen of Oregon and Debbie Fenton of Simpsonville, S.C.; and brothers Dr. Tom Carson of Tarpon Springs and Dr. Dan Carson of Winchester, Mass.

Verna Mae Chaffin, 49, of Newport, died at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday at Good Samaritan Hospital, Cincinnati. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a daughter, Lisa Ann Chaffin; sons James V. Chaffin and Herbert D. Chaffin, both of Newport; brothers, Don Barger of Wilder and Glenn Barger of Edgewood; sisters Viola Ooten and Mary Prater, both of Newport; and five grandchildren.

Darrell Clemons, 61, of Dry Ridge, died Wednesday at University Hospital, Cincinnati.

Edward Dalton Creech, 75, of Madeira, Ohio, formerly of Ludlow, died at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday at Madeira Health Care Center. He was a retired truck driver with Interstate Brands Dolly Madison Division and a former member of Col. Clay Masonic Lodge No. 159 F&AM.
Survivors include his wife, Carlene Turley Creech; daughters Alberta Turley of Virginia Beach, Va., Priscilla Wainscott of Covington, Sherry Wright of Villa Hills and Kim Creech of Dry Ridge; sons Edward Dan Creech, Donnie Creech and James Creech, all of Taylor Mill; a brother, Dallas Creech of Fort Thomas; a sister, Donna King of Villa Hills; stepdaughters, stepsons, 27 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Irene L. Finke Klug, 91, of Union, died at 1:40 p.m. Tuesday at St. Charles Care Center, Covington. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Raymond Klug, and sons, Ronald Klug and Steve Klug, all preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughters Janet Blank of Carrollton, Nancy Deglow of Burlington, Karen Riegler of Union and Cindy Heineke of Alexandria; sons Jerald Klug of Independence, Kenneth Klug of Park Hills and Timothy Klug of Taylor Mill; a sister, Frances O'Hara of Topeka, Kan.; 22 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

A.C. McDonald Jr., 69, of Fort Thomas, died at 6:20 a.m. Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a retired designer with General Electric.
Survivors include his wife, Lois McDonald; sons David McDonald of Southgate and Jeff McDonald of Cold Spring; daughters Debra Lipps of Newport, Darla Poweleit of Highland Heights and Janet Gregory of Taylor Mill; and 11 grandchildren.

Georgia Mullins, 86, of Verona, died Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence.

Marion M. Oney, 80, of Carrollton, died Tuesday at her home. She was a homemaker and a member of United Methodist Church of Carrollton. She was very active in the community, especially with school support groups and the Carroll County Band Boosters. She was a past president of the Carrollton Women's Club, was a treasurer of United Methodist Church of Carrollton and was active in the annual Hanging of the Greens holiday celebration. Her husband, Fred B. Oney, died in 2001. A son, Fredrick Benton Oney Jr., also preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughters Suzanne Lakamp of Terrace, Ohio, and Jennifer Holeman of Louisville; and nine grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at United Methodist Church of Carrollton. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the church. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Carrollton. Walter T. Setters, 61, of LaGrange, formerly of Union, died Sunday at Baptist Hospital Northeast, LaGrange. He was a farmer.
Survivors include a son, Calvin E. Setters Sr. of Akin, S.C.; sisters Betty Hodges of Hebron and Frances Olsen of Georgia; brothers Alfred Setters of Union and Samuel Setters of Covington; and two grandchildren.

Lester L. Weaver, 78, of New Port Richey, Fla., formerly of Independence, died Saturday at his home. He was a salesman with Butternut Bread Co., Cincinnati, and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include wife, Flora Weaver; daughters Vonna Furnish of Palm Harbor, Fla., and Margie Inman of Cold Spring; sons Lester Weaver Jr. of Columbus, Ohio, Roger Weaver of Atlanta and David Weaver of Nederland, Colo.; four sisters, a brother, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
