Randall Halfhill, rose to major in reserves
When he was nearly 60, Randall W. Halfhill entered the Army Reserve as a sergeant. Twelve years later, he retired with the rank of major.
"He was really proud of that, " said his son, Daniel Halfhill of Alexandria. "It was something he always wanted to do."
Halfhill, 73, of Florence, died Thursday. He was a retired insurance investigator for Hamilton County, Ohio, a member of Beaver Lick Christian Church, a major in the Army Reserves, a Navy veteran, former commanding officer for Ohio Military Reserves and a volunteer for the Kentucky State Militia.
He loved politics, mostly the Republican Party, his son said. While he never ran for office, he liked the involvement behind the scenes.
He was an avid fisherman, a gun collector and a family man.
"He was a great dad, that's for sure, " said the younger Halfhill. "He was well liked by everyone. He would do anything for anybody."
Other survivors include his wife, Billie Wright-Halfhill of Florence; a daughter, Teri Lynn Woods of Amelia, Ohio; son, Timothy Ray Halfhill of Alexandria; stepdaughter, Debbie Wells of Verona; stepson, Darryl Wright of Florence; a brother H. Dennis Halfhill of Fort Wright; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Monday at the funeral home. Burial and Honor Guard Service will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Taylor Mill. Wanda Jean Anderson, 73, of Maysville, died Thursday. She was a retired customer service representative for Limestone Cablevision and a member of St. Patrick Church, Maysville.
Survivors include her daughter, Kathy Magdaleno; two grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Brell & Son Funeral Home, Maysville. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Patrick Church, 110 East Third St., Maysville, Ky. 41056.
Robert L. Arrasmith, 88, of Warsaw, died Friday at Gallatin County Health Care Center in Warsaw. He was a retired barber and a member of Bramlette Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife Lou Arrasmith of Warsaw; a daughter, Rhonda Chapman of Warsaw; sons, Robert Arrasmith Jr. of Lawrenceburg, Ind. and Ulous Arrasmith of Erlanger; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Carlton-Lowder Funeral Home, Warsaw. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Gallatin Health Care Residents Activity Fund.
Helen E. Bailey, 74, of Covington, died Friday.

Richard Benton Jr., 80, of Newport, died Friday at Highland Heights Care and Rehabilitation Center. He was a paint sprayer.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Benton of Newport; a son, Robert Benton of Fort Thomas; daughters, Nancy Combs and Kim Larkcom, both of Newport and Sandy Linkugel of Independence; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Newport. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.
William Levitt Berry, 62, of Augusta, died Friday at Meadowview Regional Medical Center in Mason County. He was a shipping clerk for Clopay, a member of Augusta Trinity United Methodist Church, Augusta American Legion and Masonic Lodge #80.
Survivors include his brothers, David E. Berry of Maysville and John S. Berry of Brooksville; a sister, Mary Ann Kearns of Augusta; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Moore & Parker Funeral Home, Augusta. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sharon Cemetery, Augusta. Memorials are suggested to Disabled American Veterans.
Darrell Clemons, 61, of Dry Ridge, died Wednesday at University Medical Center, Cincinnati. He was an electrician and a member of Dry Ridge Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Judy O'Neill Clemons; and sisters, Wanda Wright and Betty Burgess, both of Dry Ridge, and Kathy Caldwell of Burlington.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hill Crest Cemetery, Dry Ridge. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.
Albert J. Gittner, 90, of Florence, died Wednesday at Villaspring of Erlanger Health Care Center & Rehabilitation. He was a retired president of Rainbow Baking Co., Cincinnati.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda Bauer Gittner of Florence; a son, Allen J. Gittner of Villa Hills; a daughter, Judie Kelly of New Port Richey, Fla.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Jeanette Elizabeth "Bunny" Hamm, 70, of Somerset, formerly of Ludlow, died Friday at Lake Cumberland Hospital, Somerset.
Survivors include her brother, Nelson "Sonny" Hamm of Ludlow and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Joseph E. Johnson, 40, of Florence, died Thursday at St. Luke Hospital West in Florence. He was a retired truck driver for Old Dominion Freight Co., a member of the National Rifle Association, Bass Masters, Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Latonia Lakes and a Kentucky Admiral.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Joan Perkins Johnson of Florence; a daughter, Abbey Joy Johnson of Burlington; a son Joseph Jeremiah Johnson of Mt. Olivet; father and stepmother, Elmer C. and Evelyn Johnson of Florence; mother and stepfather, Norma and Robert Schneider of Fort Thomas; stepdaughter, Tausha Wells of Florence; a sister, Debbi Mallory of Taylor Mill; and a stepsister, Shirley Reis of Alexandria.

Howard "Nellie" Kohl, 82, of Fort Thomas, died Thursday. A sales manager for the Cincinnati Container Co., he was a World War II Army veteran, a Bronze Star recipient and a member of First Presbyterian Church of Fort Thomas. His wife, Georgia Kohl, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his son, Dave Kohl of New Richmond, Ohio; a daughter, Janet Wayne of Springboro, Ohio; a sister, Virginia Kohl of Fort Thomas; and two grandchildren.

Georgia L. Mullins, 86, of Verona, died Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital West in Florence. She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church, Verona. Her husband, Harry E. Mullins preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Ruth Oliver of Verona; a son, Herschel R. Mullins of Verona; a sister, Virda Womacks of Xenia, Ohio; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Ronald L. Murphy, 51, of Elizabethtown, formerly of Newport, died Thursday at Hardin Memorial Hospital, Elizabethtown. He was a highway engineer with the Kentucky Highway Department.

Lutie Florence Beverly Tharp, 88, of Carrollton, died Thursday at Green Valley Health & Rehabilitation Center, Carrollton. She was a retired seamstress at Star Drapery Co. in Louisville, and belonged to United Pentecostal Church in Madison, Ind. Her husband, George Aubrey Tharp, and a great-grandchild, Lorin Bennett, both preceded her in death.
