Donald Glocknerleft legacy of achievement
Donald F. Glockner was an Air Force pilot, an air traffic controller and a Knights of Columbus leader who battled Parkinson's Disease the last 16 years of his life.
"He was courageous in his fight with Parkinson's Disease and was an inspiration to many, " said Mr. Glockner's son, Michael Glockner of Fort Wright.
"He didn't let the disease stop him. He remained active. He even convinced himself sometimes that he didn't have the disease."
Mr. Glockner, 70, of Crestview Hills, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood.
A native of Portsmouth, Ohio, Mr. Glockner served in the U.S. Air Force as a pilot in the Korean War.
He had a 28-year career as an air traffic controller and worked as a supervisor at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, where he was named Federal Employee of the Year in 1982.
He was a member of Mother of God Church in Covington and volunteered with the St. Vincent DePaul Society. He was a former grand knight of the Father Bealer Council No. 3908 Knights of Columbus in Elsmere.
Mr. Glockner also enjoyed coaching Knothole Baseball teams.
"Dad was all about family, " said Michael Glockner. "Nothing made him happier than when his family was all together."
"He was very friendly, with a great sense of humor. He was a master of telling a good joke."
Other survivors include his wife, Sally A. Kalb Glockner; sons, Mark Glockner of Villa Hills and Matthew Glockner of Versailles; daughters, Catherine Jones of Harlan, Carolyn Bessler of Park Hills, Barbara Heath of Burlington and Lisa McDaniel of Cincinnati; brothers, Edward Glockner, William Glockner and David Glockner, all of Portsmouth, Ohio; a sister, Janet Gallenstein of Cincinnati; and 15 grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at noon Saturday at Mother of God Church in Covington. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Saturday. Entombment will be in St. Mary Mausoleum, Fort Mitchell.

Jasper "J.C" Amburgey, 62, of Latonia, died at 2:10 p.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. He was a retired forklift operator and a member of Latonia Baptist Church and Golden Rule Masonic Lodge No. 345 F&AM.
Survivors include a son, John Amburgey of Covington; a daughter, Judy Peters of Ashland, Ohio; brothers, Stan Amburgey and Eugene Amburgey, both of Mallie, Lausie Amburgey of Chicago, Don Amburgey of Jenkins and Earl Amburgey of Georgetown; and a sister, Bert Seals of Littcar.
No services are planned. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Hindman, Ky., Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Shriners Hospital, 3229 Burnet Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio 45229.
Homer C. Black, 89, of Florence, died Thursday at Woodcrest Care Center, Florence. He was the retired owner of Gooch Jewelers, Ludlow, and a member of Kelly Furnish VFW Post, Covington, the International Watchmakers Association, Cincinnati YMCA, Square Dancers Association, Ludlow Business Association, and an official watch inspector for the Southern Railroad.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Moylan Black; a daughter, Tina Crotty of Cincinnati; sons, Clifford Black of Florence and James Black of Latonia; a sister, Evelyn Gooch of St. Petersburg, Fla.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Boniface and James Church, Ludlow. Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow. Mary Chandler Blevins, 70, of Florence, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a homemaker and a member of Christ Fellowship, the 700 Club and Helped Fellowship. A daughter, Florence Kidd, died earlier this year.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Eugene Blevins; daughters, Janet Hearn of Carrollton and Joy Kidd of Loveland, Ohio; sons, Kenny Blevins and Frank Blevins, both of Florence, Eugene Blevins of Covington, Jim Rose of Walton, Luke Rose of Latonia and Charles Rose of Owenton; sisters, Nellie Jean Sanford of Dry Ridge and Judy Pelletier of Berry; brothers, Virgil Chandler of Williamstown, Lee Chandler of Dry Ridge and Robert Chandler of Oglethorpe, Ga.; 19 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Richard Collins, 74, of Williamstown, died Wednesday at his home. He was a sign contractor and the retired owner of Richard Collins Signs, Williamstown. He was a member of Walton Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Noem Collins; and sisters, Wanda Caldwell and Georgia Filson, both of Nicholasville.

Stephen Miles Goodridge, 42, of Covington, died Sunday at his home. He was disabled.
Survivors include sons, Ronnie Goodridge, Anthony Goodridge and Tyler Goodridge, all of Belleview; a daughter, Stephanie Goodridge of Belleview; sisters, Sandra Jones of Belleview and Mary Kay Masters of Burlington; and brothers, Duane Goodridge of Columbus, Ohio, and Mark Goodridge of Belleview.

Edward Johnson, 38, of Union, died Thursday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence.

James Frances Lyons, 93, of Cold Spring, died at 2:25 a.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a retired employee of Inland Steel Corp., Milwaukee, and a member of St. Catherine Church Senior Citizens in Milwaukee. His wife, Marguerite Lyons, died in 2002.
Survivors include daughters, Bonnie Meyn of Cold Spring and Barbara Slupski of Norwell, Mass.; four grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Shirley J. McClelland Mann, 57, of Union, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
She was a teacher with New Haven Elementary School, Union, and an elder of Union Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her husband, Jeff Mann; a daughter, Sarah Mann of Union; sons, Scott Mann of Burlington, Mike Mann of Florence and Brian Mann of Lexington; a sister, Nancy Mitchell of Tucson, Ariz.; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Union Presbyterian Church, and a special memorial service at 7 p.m. Tuesday at New Haven Elementary. Jenny Lee Marcum, 81, of Taylor Mill, died at 10:10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
She was a retired dental assistant with the office of Dr. Howard Lacey, Covington, and a member of Taylor Mill Pentecostal Church. Her husband, Lewis Marcum, died in 2001.
Survivors include a son, Tony Marcum of Taylor Mill; a daughter, Martha Carr of Corinth; and seven grandchildren.

Rosemary Miller, 82, of Highland Heights, died at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Carmel Manor, Fort Thomas.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring, the St. Mary Ladies Society and St. Joseph Seniors.
Survivors include her husband, Edward Miller; daughters, Carol Roettger of Highland Heights and Jayne Futscher of Wilder; sons, Dave Miller of Erlanger and Jim Miller of Alexandria; sisters, Rita Schmidt and Mildred Suedkamp, both of Fort Thomas, and Irene Scharf of Cold Spring; nine grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.

Marian D. Morse, 61, of Chevy Chase, Md., died Oct. 16 at Suburban Hospital, Bethesda. She was a legal secretary with Fried Frank Law Firm, Washington, D.C.

Jean Morris Sturm, 78, of Fort Thomas, died at 2:40 a.m. Wednesday at her son's home in Flint, Mich.
She was a homemaker and was formerly active with Fort Thomas Schools PTA.
Her husband, Howard T. Sturm, died Aug. 4.
Survivors include sons, Bradley Sturm of Columbus, Ohio, and Dr. Randall Sturm of Flint, Mich.; and a granddaughter.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Christ Church Cathedral, Cincinnati. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.

Edythe M. Talbott, 83, of Cynthiana, died Wednesday at Grand Haven Nursing Home, Cynthiana.
She was a former homemaker and a retired cook, a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and a former member of Progressive Club and Housing Authority of Cynthiana.
Her husband, William Kenny Talbott, preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons, John K. Talbott and William S. Talbott, both of Cynthiana; daughters, Hazel M. Hall, Virginia Sue Talbott and Josie L. Page, all of Cynthiana, and Georgia E. He was a steelworker with Newport Steel.
