Fern Sadosky, 90, saw big changes in lifetime
When she was 27, Fern S. Sadosky told her son, Robert Sadosky, that she wouldn't live to see 2000, but that he should.
She was right about him, but wrong about herself.
Mrs. Sadosky, 90, of Fort Thomas, lived to see the new century and then some, dying Saturday at St. Luke Hospital East after a sudden illness.
Born on a farm in Athens, Ohio, she told her son she remembered seeing her first automobile, an old Model A Ford, coming down a dirt road one day.
"She saw more change in her lifetime than you or I will see in ours, " her son said. "She went from cars to a man on the moon."
First, though, she went to college, majoring in education at Ohio University. After she graduated, she taught about 14 students in a one-room schoolhouse in Slade, Ohio.
She married
Bernard Sadosky, whom she met at OU, and they moved to Fort Thomas in 1938, where Mr. Sadosky had a job coaching at Highlands High School.
Mrs. Sadosky worked in the office at the school for a while, then left to care for her two boys.
Mrs. Sadosky enjoyed the Fort Thomas social scene. She was a member of Highland United Methodist Church in Fort Thomas, the Fort Thomas Women's Club, and the Young at Heart Seniors and Community Bible Study at First Christian Church in Fort Thomas.
After her husband died in 1994, she lived alone in their house, caring for herself and fixing her own meals until just a few days before her death.
Other survivors include a son, Thomas Sadosky of Atlanta; and four grandchildren.
