Sister Judith Ann Keller, once was postal carrier
In nine years as a U.S. Postal Service employee, Judith Ann Keller carried the mail.
As a nun for the nine years after that, Sister Judith Ann Keller dealt in a different sort of missive, living a life of work and prayer at the Passionist Monastery in Erlanger.
"As a contemplative order, our primary purpose is prayer, " said Sister Marie Michelle, a spokeswoman for the order. "Our whole life centers around prayer."
Sister Judith Ann, C.P., died Wednesday of cancer at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center North hospice unit. She was 41.
Before she entered the monastery in 1994, she was an active member at Mother of God Church in Covington, where she was a Eucharistic minister, a member of the Legion of Mary and an accomplished signer for the deaf.
In the monastery, Sister Judith Ann worked in the altar bread business, the yard and kitchen.
"She was a quiet, gentle person with a great sense of humor, " said Sister Marie Michelle.
Survivors include her mother, Mary Jo Whaley Keller of Latonia; brothers, Mark Keller of Independence, Mike Keller of Cold Spring, Tom Keller of Florence and Steve Keller of Latonia; and the other members of the Passionist community.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Passionist Chapel, Erlanger. Visitation will be from 4 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday and from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at the chapel.
Burial will be in Passionist Cemetery, Erlanger. Memorials are suggested to St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, 401 E. 20th St., Covington, Ky. 41014.
Claudia B. Ackman, 98, of Covington, died at 8:17 a.m. Monday at the Baptist Convalescent Center, Newport.
She was a homemaker and a member of Madison Avenue Baptist Church, Covington. Her husband, Claude Ackman, preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughters, Juanita Anderson of Sarasota, Fla., Dottie Rusk of Burlington and Ginny Horvath of Vicksburg, Miss.; six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Allison & Rose Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery.

Walter Ash, 88, of Fort Mitchell, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. Arrangements are pending at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia.
Verona Hamilton Cookendorfer, 81 of Falmouth, died Monday at St. Luke Hospital East, Ft. Thomas.
Her husband, Earl Cookendorfer, preceded her in death. Survivors include sons, Terry Cookendorfer, Rodney Cookendorfer and Loren Cookendorfer, all of Falmouth; daughters, Paula Cooper of Falmouth and Karla Gerton of Louisville; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grand-children.
Services will be private. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Peoples Funeral Home, Falmouth. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth.
Geneva P. Feldkamp, 84, of Newport, died at 4:30 p.m. Friday at Highlands of Fort Thomas nursing home.
She was a material examiner with Palm Beach Co. and a waitress at Pompilio's Restaurant. She was a member of Senior Citizens of Northern Kentucky. Her husband, George Feldkamp, died in 1971.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Ellen Nelson of Marietta, Ga.; sons, Tom Feldkamp of Burlington and Wally Feldkamp of Florence; sisters, Helen Orchelle of Florence and Edith Strasinger of Cincinnati; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Service will be at noon Friday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Newport. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.

Lexy Ford III, 73, of Wilder, died Monday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. Arrangements are pending at A.C. Dobbling and Son Funeral Home, Fort Thomas.
Deon Gaddis, 76, of Burlington, died at 4:14 a.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington.
He was the retired founder of Trophy Awards in Latonia and Agape Awards in Newport and a starter and ranger with Boone Licks Golf Course. He also was an assistant manager with World Pro Shop, Florence, and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores Dyer Gaddis; a daughter, Robin R. Toadvine of Charlotte, N.C.; sons; Steven D. Gaddis of Villa Hills and Audie D. Gaddis of Harrisonburg, Va.; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be at noon Thursday at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.
Lucille Hodges, 85, of Florence, died Monday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. She was a homemaker and a member of East Bend Baptist Church, Union.
Survivors include cousins.

Norbert A. Krebs Sr., 82, of Newport, died at 3:30 p.m. Monday at St. Charles Care Center, Covington.
He was a retired machine greaser with George Wiedemann Brewery Co., Newport, and a carpenter with Striets Furniture Co. He also was a member of St. Therese Church, Southgate and the Corpus Christi Holy Name Society.
Survivors include his wife, Naomi Krebs; sons, Norb Krebs Jr. of Cold Spring and Mark Krebs of Newport; daughters, Judy Berling and Terri Lynn Seibert, both of Edgewood, and Shirley Eilers West of Cincinnati; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grand-children.

Donald E. Long, 72, of Florence, died Monday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. He was a retired Army veteran of the Vietnam War, a member of Florence Baptist Church and the Scottish Rite.
Survivors include his wife, Tomico Long; sons, Lawrence Long of Florence, John Long of Huntsville, Ala., and Don-ald Raymond Long of Biloxi, Miss.; daughters, Barbara Stewart of Verona and Karen Christmas of Baldwin, Fla.; brothers, Raymond Long and Paul Long, both of Florence, Lawrence Lee Long and Eugene Long, both of Dayton; six grandchildren and four great-grand-children.

Max LuJan, 76, of Sulphur, died Sunday at his home. He was a retired Army veteran and a retired postal worker with the U.S. Post Office, Sulphur. His wife, Donna Ray Stafford LuJan, died in 1979.
Survivors include a daughter, Rhonda Hope Thompson Fortney of Lawrenceburg.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Graham-Dunn Funeral Home, Carrollton. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in English Cemetery, Carrollton.
George Henry Perry, 68, of Dayton, died Saturday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a retired employee of Interlake Steel, Newport. A daughter, Ruth Perry, died in 1993.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Perry; daughters, Karen Johnson of Covington, Edie Horstman of Melbourne and Terri Hall of Dayton; a son, John Perry of Silver Grove; a brother, Delbert Perry of Alexandria; sisters, Mildred Adkins of Latonia, Dorothy Jett of Newport and Shirley Heaverin of Alexandria; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grand-children.
Services were this morning at Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery, Grants Lick.
Mary Placke, 85, of Newport, died at 2:02 a.m. Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. She was a retired nurse's aide with St. Charles Care Center, Covington, and a member of Holy Spirit Church, Newport.
Survivors include a sister, Rosemary Dischar of Southgate; and brothers, William Placke of Fort Thomas, Vincent Placke and Joseph Placke, both of Cincinnati, and Lucian Placke of Cold Spring.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Therese Church, Southgate. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas, followed by prayers. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright.
Marianne M. Rote, 75, of Warsaw, died Tuesday at Gallatin County Health Care Center, Warsaw. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph Church, Warsaw. Her husband, LeRoy Rote, died in 1996.
Survivors include daughters, Geraldine Daulton of Sparta, Deborah Hill of Warsaw, Marylee Meers and Elaine Burns, both of Buffalo, N.Y., Kathleen Cox of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Susan Burns of Tucson, Ariz.; a son, LeRoy T. Rote of Cincinnati; 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Rote bequeathed her body to the University of Louisville. Carlton-Lowder Funeral Home, Warsaw, is handling arrangements.

Mildred Marie Ulrich Weber, 84, of Fort Thomas, died at 4:19 a.m. Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.
She was a retired bookkeeper and accountant with the Internal Revenue Service, Covington, and a member of National Association of Federal Employees, St. John Golden Agers, St. Paul's Churchill Seniors, Silver Grove Belles and Beaus, Southgate Super Seniors and Christian Neighbors. Her husband, Roy Weber, died in 1994. A daughter, Clara Hines, died in 1994.
Survivors include sons, Jeffrey Weber, David Weber and John Weber, all of Melbourne, Michael Weber of Mentor, Stephan Weber of Silver Grove and Roger Weber of Alexandria; a sister, Helen Barth of Fort Thomas; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Philip Church, Melbourne. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Prayers will be at 9:15 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas.
Rev. Paul A. Wenning, 85, of Spokane, Wash., formerly of Covington, died Friday in Spokane.
Survivors include brothers, Robert W. Wenning of Fort Mitchell and Ralph T. Wenning of Strongsville, Ohio.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Thomas More Church, Spokane. A vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the church. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home, Spokane, is handling arrangements.
