Marjorie Lee, cared for students, friends

Marjorie G. Lee spent 30 years taking care of fourth graders at Ninth District School in Covington.

When she retired in the late 1980s, she devoted much of her time looking after her retired colleagues.

"She took care of her teacher friends who had become ill, " said a son, Christopher A. Lee of Crestview Hills. "She'd take them food and visit with them and help them keep up with their bills. She wound up being executor of two of their estates."

Mrs. Lee, of Crestview Hills, died at 6:50 p.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was 78.

Mrs. Lee's strong ethic to help others started with her own family. In addition to taking care of her three children, she was also caregiver for her own mother, who lived with the Lees for more than 40 years.

"She was a very kind and loving person, a great mother, " Christopher Lee said.

In retirement, Mrs. Lee was active in the Republican Women of Northern Kentucky, working in the campaigns of several GOP candidates, including U.S. Sen. Jim Bunning of Southgate. She was a regular poll worker at the Crestview Hills precinct.

She volunteered at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South's gift shop and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Zeta Chapter. Her husband, Stephen N. Lee Jr., died in 1981.
