Charles Bramlage, 75, devoted to his family
Charles E. Bramlage began working as a shoe salesman in Cincinnati at 15, and worked hard all his life to help provide for his family, said his daughter Sandra Lackey.
"He always made sure he was working at least two or three jobs, " she said.
Mr. Bramlage, of Covington, died Sunday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. He was 75.
He was a former railroad worker at Union Terminal, a security guard with First National Bank and Firstar, and an employee of Hilvers Catering.
Despite working so often, Lackey said, Mr. Bramlage still had time to be a good father.
"He was good with us kids and taught us all good lessons and everything ..., " she said. "He taught us to be good and to respect people.
Another daughter, Laura L. Bramlage, and a son, Robert Bramlage, both preceded him in death.
Other survivors include his wife, M. La Verne Hellmann Bramlage; a daughter, Mary Charlene Flanagan of Ghent; sons, Ralph Bramlage of Florence and Charles Bramlage of Independence; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at noon Thursday at Mother of God Church, Fort Wright. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright. Flora Shelton Barberick, 91, of Covington, died Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. She was a clerk with Hershede Jewelers, and a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Latonia, and the Young at Heart Group. Her husband, Frank Barberick, died in 1965. A daughter, Dorothy Barberick, died in 1997.
Survivors include daughters, Joyce Coyne-Tunning of Erlanger, Lucy Flowers of Delhi, Ohio, and Lynne Coyne-Gammon of Highland Heights; a son, Frank Barberick of Sparta; a sister, Dorothy Smith of Owenton; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence. Visitation will begin there at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Kidney Foundation, 250 E. Liberty St., Suite 710, Louisville, Ky. 40202.
Michael Anthony Bruner, 43, of Owenton, died Monday at his home. He was a maintenance engineer with Viox Services and a member of Cedar Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Adam Bruner of Owenton; brothers, Marc Ragan of Bagdad and Alan Ragan of PeeWee Valley; and sisters, Lisa Hance of Smithfield, Lora Morris of New Amsterdam, Ind., Becky Wright of New Albany, Ind., and Jenny Feather of Central, Ind.

Maurice H. "Mossey" Byrne Jr., 85, of Newport, died Monday at Northern Kentucky Care and Rehabilitation Center, Highland Heights.

Alice Viola Franxman, 97, of Covington, died Monday at Rosedale Manor, Latonia.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Benedict Church, Covington. She was a former president the Stroke Club and a member of the Covington Civic Club and Tripoli Club. Her husband, Norbert Franxman, died in 1974. Sons, Richard Franxman and Norbert Franxman, both preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Pat Harney of Independence; sons, Robert Franxman of Covington, Jack Franxman of Florence and Larry Franxman of Orlando; 23 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Benedict Church, Covington. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright. Memorials are suggested to St. Benedict Church, 338 E. 17th St., Covington, Ky. 41014.
William Hollen, 42, of Latonia, died Saturday at his home.
Survivors include his mother, Claudia Spangler of Latonia; his stepmother, Mary E. Hollen of Highland Heights; a sister, Tammy Hollen of Latonia; and brothers, Larry Ashcraft and Carl Hollen Jr., both of Latonia.
Services will be at noon Thursday at Alexandria Funeral Home. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Alexandria Cemetery.
Jesse W. "Bill" Loomis, 73, of Whitmore Lake, Mich., formerly of Covington, died Tuesday at his home. He was a retired tool and die maker. His wife, Sally Duncan Loomis, died in 1992.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Dettloff of Marlton, N.J.; a son, David Loomis of Whitmore Lake; a sister, Barbara Brown of Williamstown; and a grandson.
No services are planned. Cremation will be at Harris Funeral Home, Lavonia, Mich.
Robert W. Newbold, 83, of Live Oak, Fla., formerly of Cincinnati, died Sunday at Lake City, Fla., Medical Center. He was a business agent with Millwright Union International and a member of the Carpenters Union of Ohio.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Newbold, and a nephew.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas. A.C. Dobbling and Son Funeral Home, Fort Thomas, is handling arrangements.
Alex D. Patton, 54, of Covington, died at 3:33 a.m. Monday at his home. He was a meat cutter with John Morrell Co., Cincinnati, and formerly with the Kroger Co. He was a member of Meat Cutters Union Local No. 7, and was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Alice Wilson Patton; daughters, Deonia Patton of Florence, Rachel Carnes of California, Teresa Shworles of Ludlow, Amanda Patton of Newport and Mary Patton of Covington; sons, Alex D. Patton Jr. and James Patton, both of Covington; his mother, Ida Alice Roberts Patton of Latonia; brothers, Buford Patton of Visalia and Curtis Patton of Sparta; sisters, Ima Jean Roundtree of Covington, Brenda Brashear of Batavia, Ohio, and Sharon Smothers of Ludlow; and 11 grandchildren.

Ruth Ann Proutey, 39, of Lexington, died Sunday at her home.
Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Sarah Ella Flynn and George Edward Hudgins of Cynthiana; her father, Richard Leroy Proutey Sr. of West Virginia; sons, Derrick Scott Proutey of Cynthiana and Shawn Tyler Proutey of Lexington; a sister, Connie Webster of Butler; and brothers, Richard Proutey Jr. of Lexington and Johnny Proutey of Cynthiana.

Barbara Jean Ruttencutter-Dean, 66, of Erlanger, died at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. She was a retired supervisor with Choice Care Humana, Cincinnati.

Fred William Schwartz, 83, of Southgate, died Monday at his home. He was a retired assigner with Cincinnati Bell Telephone and a member of First Baptist Church of Fort Thomas, the church Romeo Club, Southgate Seniors, and John R. Little VFW Post No. 3186, Southgate.
Survivors include his wife, Ada Banfield Schwartz; a daughter, Glenda Williams of Lexington; and two grandchildren.

Henry A. "Hank" Seeber, 91, of Highland Heights, died Sunday at Highlands of Fort Thomas nursing home. He was a retired engineer with Southern Railroad and a member of St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring. He was a former member of Dayton Eagles No. 1285, United Transportation Union, the National Association of Retired Veterans and the Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation. His first wife, Alma Brown Seeber; second wife, Henrietta Wentworth Seeber; a daughter, Evelyn Rieger; and a son, Raymond Seeber, all preceded him in death.
Survivors include daughters, Mary Lou Capek of Erlanger and Marilyn Martin of Bellevue; sons, William Rieger of Bellevue and Thomas Seeber of Fairfield, Ohio; 18 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.

Ruth Martin Sorrell, 93, of Bellevue, died Monday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. She was a clerk with Gidding-Jenning Co., and a member of St. Paul Episcopal Church, Newport, and the Ave. Social Club, Bellevue. Her husband, William Sorrell, died in 1955.
Survivors include daughters, Linda Alerding of Fort Thomas and Judy McGovern of Bellevue; a son, Thomas Sorrell of Bellevue; a stepson, Jim Sorrell of Edgewood; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
