Arthur A. Class, 73, former tavern owner
Arthur A. Class, 73, of Highland Heights, former owner of the 19th Hole Tavern in Alexandria, died Friday at Northern Kentucky Care and Rehabilitation in Highland Heights.
Mr. Class also worked as a bartender at the Joyce Ann Tavern in Highland Heights and was employed for 25 years as a dockworker for Western Paper Goods.
He also took care of his mother, Mae Class, 90, of Highland Heights, who survives him.
"He not only was busy with his jobs at Western Paper and the tavern, but in addition to taking care of mom, he also helped lots of other people in the neighborhood, " said Mr. Class' brother, Louis Class of Fort Thomas.
"He was a quiet guy, but when anybody needed help, he was there to help. All you had to do was ask him, and he would help you out. People who needed transportation to get to the doctor were able to count on him."
Mr. Class was a big sports fan and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a veteran of the Korean War.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Fares J. Radel Funeral Home, 2048 Alexandria Pike, Highland Heights, followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to the American Cancer Society, 11117 Kenwood Road, Cincinnati, Ohio, 45242-1817, or Hospice of Northern Kentucky, 1419 Alexandria Pike, Fort Thomas, Ky., 41075.
Alma House Baird, 88, of Florence, died at 10:25 a.m. Sunday at her home. Her husband, John C. Baird, died in 1965.
Survivors include sons, Wally Baird of Purvis, Miss., John Edward Baird, at home, and Chuck Baird of Independence; and daughters, Molly Steele of Covington, Becky Baird Gerding of Covington and Bonnie Noble of Florence.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Independence. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Point, 104 Pike St., Covington, Ky. 41011.
Thelma Ruth Feldhaus, 91, of Louisville, formerly of Florence, died Sunday at Summerfield Manor, Louisville. She was a machine operator with Brown & Williamson Co. and a member of Union Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. Her husband, James Marvin Feldhaus, died in 1992.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Rice Cemetery, Union.
Robert Eugene Howard, 43, of Burlington, died Saturday at his home.
Survivors include a son, Christopher Howard of Morehead; a daughter, Melissa Marcum of Morehead; a brother, Brice Howard of Burlington; sisters, Maude Jones of Clay City, Stella Curtis of Owensville and Mary Maguire of Olive Hill; and a grandson.
Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. today at Mount Pisgah Methodist Church Cemetery, Dry Ridge. Eckler-Hudson Funeral Home, Dry Ridge, is handling arrangements.
Gladys Lee Lederer Johnson, 71, of Union, died at 7:45 p.m. Friday at Villaspring Care Center, Erlanger. She was a retired supervisor with ADT Security Systems in Cincinnati and a member St. Paul Church, Florence. Her husband, Lonnie Victor Johnson, died in 1994.
Survivors include daughters, Mary Catherine Baker and Nancy Ann Kelsey, both of Florence, Yvonne Marie Johnson and Patricia Lee Phillips, both of Union; sons, John Michael Johnson of Union and James David Johnson of Alexandria; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Timothy Church, Union. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested in the form of Masses. Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia, is handling arrangements.
Minnie Frances Lawson Linville, 82, of Robertson County, died Saturday at Harrison Memorial Hospital, Cynthiana. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Turman "Little Bob" Linville, preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons, Donald Lawson of Denniston and Harold Glenn Linville of Lexington; a daughter, Sandy Berry of Mount Olivet; a brother, Albert Ray Lawson of Marion, Ind.; sisters, Irene Simpson of Mount Sterling, Virginia Cornwell of Mount Olivet and Lillian Crockett of Middletown, Ohio; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Robertson County Funeral Home, Mount Olivet. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
Claudette A. Morgan, 64, of Cynthiana, died Friday at Harrison Memorial Hospital, Cynthiana. A son, Anthony Jewell, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Gary Morgan of Lexington; daughters, Debbie Morgan of Los Angeles, Lori Roberts of Baltimore, Tunya Adams of Harrison County and Mashell Watford of Okeechobee, Fla.; and seven grandchildren.
Services were this morning at Ware Funeral Home, Cynthiana. Burial was in Jacksonville Cemetery.
Christine McCord Oliver, 80, of Lexington, formerly of Louisville, died Friday at Harrison Memorial Hospital, Cynthiana.
She was a retired nurse and volunteer with the American Red Cross. Her husband, Hubert Oliver, preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons, Bobby Gene Oliver and Jimmy Oliver, both of Louisville, and Louis Everett McClain of Frankfort; a daughter, Patsy Switzer of Harrison County; a brother, Charles McCord Jr. of Lexington; sisters, Ruth Edwards of Lexington, Ruby Craig of Florida and Betty Jean Milner of Lexington; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Ware Funeral Home, Cynthiana. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Stamping Ground.
Bette H. Phillips, 83, of Ludlow, died at 11:15 a.m. Friday at St. Charles Care Center, Covington.
She was a retired nurse and medical receptionist and a member of Lakeside Presbyterian Church, Lakeside Park. Her husband, Robert F. Phillips, died in 1986.
Survivors include Wayne Heinisch and Howard Heinisch, both of Cincinnati, Ernest Heinisch of Fort Mitchell, Ray Heinisch of McDowell and James Heinisch of Atlanta; and a sister, Ruth Gall of Villa Hills.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Ludlow. Visitation will begin there at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Clara Blackburn Ross, 80, of Flemingsburg, formerly of Grant County, died Thursday at her home.
She was a former director of nursing and administrator with Fleming County Hospital, Flemingsburg, and a member of Flemingsburg Christian Church.
Her husband, Dr. Paul Milton Ross, preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons, Jerry Ross and Rob Ross, both of Fleming County; sisters, Barbara Rogers of Cincinnati, Jackie Ryberg of Croton, Ohio, and Deanna Gunn of Perry Park; a brother, Robert Blackburn of Florence; and three grandchildren.
Services were Sunday at Denton-Workman Funeral Home, Flemingsburg. Burial was in Maysville Cemetery.
Betty Q. Tarvin, 79, of Alexandria, died at 7:45 a.m. Sunday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Martin E. Tarvin; a son, Archie Banfield of Brunswick, Maine; a daughter, Betty Jo Warden of Cold Spring; a stepson, three grandsons and a great-grandson.
Services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Persimmon Grove Cemetery, Alexandria. Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association, 333 Guthrie St., Suite 207, Louisville, Ky. 40202. Alexandria Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Wanda Terlau, 63, of Morning View, died at 2:26 a.m. today at her home.
