Genella Monhollen, 90, had great love of children
Genella Anna Zanora Hall Monhollen's love for children was apparent at home and in the Sunday school classes she taught for 30 years.
"She had an absolute love of children, " said her son, David Monhollen, of Crittenden.
"She was just an absolutely dedicated mother and wife and dear friend to everyone who knew her, " he said.
Mrs. Monhollen, 90, of Florence, died at 7:50 p.m. Friday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington.
She was an active member of Erlanger Christian Church, where she taught Sunday school for 30 years and was an elder emeritus.
She was also a member of Erlanger Woman's Club and Christian Women's Fellowship.
Mrs. Monhollen was born in Dayton on July 25, 1912. She followed her husband, James Monhollen, to Rhode Island, where he was stationed with the Seabees.
The couple returned to Northern Kentucky and lived in Erlanger, Edgewood and finally on their Crittenden farm. They also spent two years in Clearwater, Fla.
Besides caring for children, Mrs. Monhollen was a seeker with many interests, including poetry, sewing, gardening and reading the Bible.
She took piano lessons at 70, canoed for the first time at 75 and started teaching adult literacy at 80.
Mrs. Monhollen overcame physical pain to continue serving others, ministering to others through card writing and phone calls in her 80s.
"She lived with a really challenging physical condition, and never complained, " David Monhollen said.
He said he'll remember his mother's "unconditional love for people, her patience, her positive attitude and constant encouragement of others."
Other survivors include Steve Monhollen of Canton, Miss.; a daughter, Barb Back of Florence; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Erlanger Christian Church. Visitation will begin there at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be at 9 a.m. Monday at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger. James Edward Albertson, 30, of Covington, died Tuesday at his home.

Emmert E. Angel, 80, of Covington, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington.
Arrangements are pending at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Covington.
Jonathan Gene Barnes, 28, of Covington, died Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. He was a self-employed vendor.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Ellen Barnes-Skirvin and James Skirvin of Ludlow; a sister, Amberlee Clark of Ludlow; stepbrothers, Michael Skirvin of Belleview and Scott Skirvin of Covington; his grandmother, Jacqueline Draper of Fort Thomas; and fiance, Lori Frodge of Covington.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Fares J. Radel Funeral Home, Newport. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Saturday. Cremation will be at Fares J. Radel Funeral Home, Cincinnati. Sarah Ganci, 82, of Florence, died Tuesday at her home. She was a seamstress with the Ladies Garment Union and a member of St. Paul Church in Florence, and senior citizen groups at St. Henry Church and Villa Madonna.
Survivors include a sister, Anna Ganci of Florence, and a brother, Vincent Ganci of Florence.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 12:10 p.m. Monday at St. Paul Church, Florence. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in St. Charles Cemetery, Pinelawn. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Northern Kentucky, 1403 Alexandria Pike, Fort Thomas, Ky. 41075.
Ann D. Eten Grever, 88, of Newport, died Monday at her home. She was an executive secretary with R.L. Polk Co., Cincinnati, and a member of Sacred Heart Church, Bellevue. Her husband, Clarence E. Grever, died in 1990.
Survivors include daughters, Joyce Binegar of Houston, Beverly Brook of Mansfield, Ohio, and Trisha Weigand of Akron, Ohio; and four grandchildren.

Thomas Andrew Harman Sr., 39, of Lexington, died at 12:10 p.m. Wednesday in Corinth at the home of his parents. He was a warehouse supervisor for Wickes Lumber Co., Lexington and a member of Southland Christian Church, Lexington.
Survivors include his son, Thomas Andrew Harman Jr. of Lexington; parents, Betty Crowe Harman and Allen T. Harman of Corinth; sisters, Lesle A. Ham of Florence and Karen H. Guarnieri and Valerie H. Cecil, both of Lexington; brothers, Allen T. "Ted" Harman Jr. of Burgin and Randy L. Harman Sr. and William Marion Harman, both of Lexington.

Helen D. Kinsella, 63, of Highland Heights, died at 2:07 p.m .Wednesday at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati.

Walter "Butchie Boy" L. Klaserner, 64, of Anderson, Ind., formerly of Covington, died Tuesday at Anderson Community Hospital. He was a retired employee of Fort Wayne Truck and Bus Division of General Motors, and a member of United Auto Workers Union Local No. 2209. His wife, Dolly Ann Klaserner, died in 2002.
Survivors include a son, Rod Klaserner; daughters, Tracy Condon, Wendy Branham, Melissa Klaserner and Debbie Hazel; sisters, Judy Pruitt and Mary Sue Harney, both of Covington; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Doug Manuel, 82, of Cape Coral, Fla., formerly of Butler, died Tuesday at Health Park Hospital, Fort Myers, Fla. He was owner of Flour Creek Service Center, and a World War II veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Manuel; sons, Ronald Manuel of Columbus, Ohio, and Phillip Manuel of Louisville; daughters, Bonnie Combs of Alexandria, Billie Lawrence of Phoenix and Julie Miracle of Cape Coral; a brother, Earl Manuel of Lexington; a sister, Mary Featherstone of Lexington; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Terri L. Moeller, 58, of Davenport, Iowa, formerly of Covington, died Wednesday at Genesis Medical Center West Campus in Davenport following complications from a stroke. She was a former administrative assistant at Villa Madonna Academy and WLWT Channel 5, Cincinnati. In Davenport, she was an employee of Davenport Bank & Trust and First Midwest Bank, and was a volunteer.
Survivors include her husband, Don Moeller; daughters, Kristi Moeller-Francis of Davenport, and Susan Moeller Argo of Fort Thomas; sisters, Susan Parker of Cincinnati and Audrey DeMaris of Orlando, Fla.; brothers, Fred Koller and Chuck Koller, both of Edgewood; and two grandchildren.

Mildred Shelley Conatser Nichols, 85, of Florence, died Wednesday at St. Luke West, Florence. She was a retired teacher for the McCreary County School System, a member of Oakland United Methodist Church, Alexandria, Retired Teachers Association and participated in 4-H activities. Her husband, Leroy Conatser, and daughter, Nancy Lee Ford, both preceded her in death.
Survivors include her son, Bill Conatser of Walton and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 7 p.m .Friday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Walton. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until the time of services Friday at the funeral home. Gaylord Lee Sharp, 73, of Alexandria, died Tuesday at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati. He was a retired mechanic with Seibert's Garage, Alexandria, and an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Virgie Sharp; sons, Tom Sharp of Alexandria, Randy Sharp of Elgin, Ill., and Danny Sharp of Jupiter, Fla.; five grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Jessica Michelle Stanley, 18, of Union, died Tuesday at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati. She was a recent graduate of Ryle High School.
Survivors include her mother, Linda Stanley of Union; sisters, Ashley Stanley and Marilyn Stanley, both of Union; grandparents, Annie Rae of Ocean Isle Beach, N.C., Bob and Betty Fike of Cincinnati; great-grandparents, Jesse and Betty Sien of Normal, Ill.

Curtis H. Stephens, 71, of Somerset, formerly of Williamstown, died Saturday at his home.
He was a retired employee of the Kentucky Department of Transportation and a member of Livelystone Church of God, Sherman. A son, Marvin Lee Stephens, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyne King Stephens; sons, Willard Stephens of Somerset, Bobby Stephens of Williamstown and Kurtis Dale Stephens of Fort Myers, Fla.; daughters, Jewel Ingram of Somerset, Wilma Vargas of Florence and Kathey Merrell of Hebron; a brother, Maynard Stephens of Strunk; sisters, Dorothy Gregory Strunk, Christine Neal of Independence and Betty Alshire of Pine Knot; 20 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services were Tuesday at Trinity Temple Church of God, Pine Knot. Burial was in Jones Cemetery, Strunk. Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home, Whitley City, is handling arrangements.
Bonnie Jean Thiele, 52, of Winona, Minn., died Sunday at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn. She was an employee of Watlow Controls Inc. A son, Ralph Thacker Jr., preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Steven Thiele; a son, Bobby Boals Jr. of Winona; daughters, Marie Brumley of Somerset, Theresa Thacker of Union and Cindy Williams of Walton; stepdaughters, Teri Thiele of Ames, Iowa, Darci Prodzinski of Homer, Minn., and Sherry Fultz of Walton; a stepson, Brian Boals of Covington; a brother, Billy Race of Elsmere; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Grace Presbyterian Church, Winona. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Martin-Myhre Funeral Home, Winona. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Mausoleum.
Mary Sue Thompson, 72, of Las Vegas, formerly of Newport, died June 10 in Las Vegas. Her husband, Jarvie Thompson, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Valtina McCormick Rotolo of Las Vegas, and nieces.
No services are planned. Nevada Funeral Service, Las Vegas, is handling arrangements.
Wilson E. Tucker, 88, of Edgewood, died at 1:20 p.m. Wednesday at Veterans Administration Hospital, Cincinnati. He was self-employed.
Survivors include his wife, Myrtle C. Hamilton Tucker; sons, Wilson E. Tucker of Mountain Home, Idaho, Brian Tucker of Whitinsville, Mass., and Lloyd Tucker of Houston; daughters, Myrna Coffin of Hancock, Maine, and Linda Fletcher of Amelia, Ohio; a sister, Edna Libby of East Lebanon, Maine; 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
