Helen Kinsella, court clerk
Helen D. Kinsella was a familiar and friendly face at the Campbell County Court House in Newport.
For 20 years, from the late-1970s to the late-1990s, she was a district court clerk, helping the general public, along with judges and attorneys, with court documents and other court-related work.
"People relied on her, and she liked the fact that they depended on her, " said Mrs. Kinsella's son, Matthew Kinsella of Fort Thomas. "She excelled at anything she was asked to do. She didn't want to retire, but had to because of health problems."
Mrs. Kinsella, 63, of Highland Heights, died Wednesday at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati.
She was a member of St. Therese Church in Southgate and a Kentucky Colonel.
Mrs. Kinsella's husband, Robert Kinsella, died at the age of 38 in 1978, leaving her to raise the couple's four children.
"She was courageous, " said Matthew Kinsella. "She didn't curl up in a ball and cry in the corner. She went back to work and did what she had to do to raise a family."
Mrs. Kinsella struggled with diabetes for 30 years and later in her life battled heart problems and emphysema.
"She was a true inspiration to everyone, " said her son. "She never wanted to bother others with her problems. She thought of everyone else before she thought of herself."
