Robert M. Dennis, 84, mechanic, family man
Robert M. Dennis had already spent four years in the work force by the time he got married
-- at age 17.
Mr. Dennis quit school after the seventh grade to start working and help his family.
"Mostly back in those days, you was busy enough just to make enough to survive, " said younger brother Walter Dennis, of Silver Grove, of life growing up in the Depression with his brother.
Robert Dennis, also of Silver Grove, died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit in Independence. He was 84.
Mr. Dennis served in the Army during World War II, and was sent to the Philippines, although he never saw action.
"He shipped out to San Francisco the day the war was declared over, " said his son, Ron Dennis of Independence.
Mr. Dennis was a retired mechanic for O.K. Trucking Co., Cincinnati, a former assistant chief with the Independence Fire Department and a former member of the Moose Lodge.
"He was a good father; he was stern but fair, " said Ron Dennis. "He liked to fish and play horseshoes and spend time with his family and friends."
Younger sister Jean DeMoss of Silver Grove said Mr. Dennis "thought of everybody but himself."
"Gentle and kind -- he took care of everyone that he could, " DeMoss said.
Mr. Dennis was married
67 years to Elizabeth J. Lipscomb Dennis, who died in 1994.
Other survivors include daughters Shirley Cox, of Walton; Brenda Watson, of Crittenden; and Becky Lewis Mason, of Morning View; sisters, Marcheta Mort, of Elwood, Ind., and Wilma McDonald, of Silver Grove; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery. Prudie Cox Agrue, 95, of Crittenden, died Monday at Florence Park Care Center, Florence. She was a homemaker and a member of Crittenden Christian Church. Her husband, Raymond Agrue, died in 1969. A son, Raymond Agrue Jr., and a daughter, Norma Menefee Ginn, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons, James Agrue and Bobby Agrue, both of Covington; daughters, Freda Kannady of Morning view, Blanche Stonum of New Carlisle and Patricia Hampton of Covington; 21 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at noon Wednesday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Crittenden. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Hill Crest Cemetery, Dry Ridge. Memorials are suggested to Crittenden Christian Church, 106 N. Main St., Crittenden, Ky. 41030.
Thelma Inez Bowling, 74, of Highland Heights, died Saturday at Northern Kentucky Care and Rehabilitation Center, Highland Heights. She was a homemaker a member of Warsaw Church of God. Her husband, Edward Bowling, died in 1993.
Survivors include a brother, Joe Rider of Los Angeles; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Cremation will be at Hillside Chapel, Cincinnati. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Northern Kentucky, 1403 Alexandria Pike, Fort Thomas, Ky. 41075.
Jeannette Young Brownfield, 85, of Covington, died at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Jewish Hospital, Kenwood campus, Cincinnati. She was a former waitress with the Kentucky Club and the Press Club of Covington. Her husband, Harvey A. Brownfield Jr., died in 1995.
Survivors include a son, Harvey A. Brownfield III of Covington; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will begin there at 4 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill. Mary E. Baker Clenney, 91, of Covington, died at 1:30 a.m. Monday at Woodspoint Care Center, Florence.
She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Ludlow.
Her husband, Charles Clenney, died in 1990.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Fleckenstein of Crestview Hills; sons, Thomas G. Clenney and Charles C. Clenney, both of Covington, and Tyrone A. Clenney of Scottsville; a sister, Virginia Meredith of Fort Wright; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Ludlow. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.
James Dean, 70, of Butler, died Monday at his home.

Lois Jean Bush Dilts, 68, of Dayton, died Monday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.
She was an employee of Cincinnati Bell Telephone. Her husband, Thomas L. Dilts Sr., died in 1994.
Survivors include a son, Thomas Dilts Jr. of Dayton; a daughter, Debbie Peterson of Decatur, Ala.; and five grandchildren.

Melvin "Todd" Faulkner, 83, of Harrison County, died at 11 p.m. Sunday at his home.
He was a deacon of Riverview Baptist Church, Harrison County, a retired farmer and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Beagle Faulkner; daughters, Jane Carol Wade of Berry and Shirley Diane Wade of Cynthiana; a son, Jerry Daniel Faulkner of Pendleton County; a sister, Catherine Smith of Harrison County; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Riverview Baptist Church, Harrison County. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at Woodhead Funeral Home, Berry. Robert G. Fields, 66, of Erlanger, died June 17 at his home. He was an extruder operator with Duro Bag Co.
Survivors include a son, James R. Fields of Wayne, Mich.; a sister, Gwyndolin Webb of Shallotte, N.C.; a brother, Thomas Fields of Elizabeth City, N.C.; and two grandchildren.

Charles D. Hogle, 62, of Melbourne, died at 7:20 a.m. Sunday at Mercy Hospital in Goshen, Ohio. He was a retired truck driver with O.K. Trucking Co., Cincinnati, and a member of Cold Spring Baptist Church, Newport Lodge No. 358 F&AM and Teamsters Union Local No. 100, Cincinnati. He was an Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma F. Hogle; daughters, Debbie Purnell, Toni Quitter and Tammy Hogle, all of Alexandria; a son, Charles D. Hogle Jr. of Melbourne; a brother, Donald Hogle of Cincinnati; a sister, Dorothy Beal of Alexandria; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Grants Lick.
George Edward Lambert, 60, of Erlanger, died Sunday at his home. He was a retired employee of Pacific Bell Telephone and a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles, Ravenna, Ohio.
Survivors include his wife, Julie Yaeger Lambert; a daughter, Wendy Lee Lambert of Cypress, Calif.; his mother, Jennie Lambert of Ravenna; brothers, Donald Lambert of Ravenna and Todd Lambert of Diamond, Ohio; and three granddaughters.

Chester M. Mutters, 71, of Florence, died Saturday at his home. He was a retired engineer with AT&T;, a member of Telephone Pioneers of America and an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Mutters; a daughter, Pamela Heaton of Phoenix; three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Robert E. Owens, 53, of Pensacola, Fla., formerly of Covington, died June 17 in Pensacola. He was a retired Navy veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn A. Owens; sons, Timothy W. Godwin II, Jason L. Godwin, Nathan A. Godwin and Jonathan A. Godwin; daughters, Angela C. Godwin and Victoria T. Owens; a brother, Charles W. Owens of Cynthiana; a sister, Mary B. Owens of Park Hills; and eight grandchildren.

Sisters Mary Estelle Radley, C.D.P., 85, of Melbourne, died at 9:40 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Home, Melbourne. She was an elementary school teacher in West Virginia and Kentucky, and was an accountant with the Holy Family Home before retirement.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.

Bernard Louis Rennekamp, 77, of Carrollton, died Sunday at Sayre Christian Village Nursing Home, Lexington. He was a retired purchasing agent with M&T; Chemicals in Carrollton and an Army veteran of World War II. His wife, Rauni Aili Rahikka Rennekamp, died in 1995.
Survivors include a son, Roger Alan Rennekamp of Lexington; and two grandchildren.

She was a member of Holy Cross Church, Latonia, St. Anthony Fun Club and the Young Grandmothers Club. Her husband, Celestine Spenlau, died in 1976. A son, Terry Spenlau, died in 1999.
