Marcella Schrage, 83, Ludlow businesswoman
Marcella M. Schrage was a Ludlow businesswoman in the early 1960s -- a time when men dominated commerce in the Ohio River town.
She owned and operated Schrage's Hardware and Gift Shop, on Elm Street, from 1964 until she sold the business in 1986. She took over the business from her parents, who had started it in 1920, and built a new building for it.
Ms. Schrage, of Fort Mitchell, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. She was 83.
She was born and grew up in Ludlow, and she graduated from St. James High School.
Her hobbies included dancing and teaching dancing, playing cards and vacationing, said her younger sister, Virginia Cleary.
"She and my brother danced; they danced on rollerskates, too, " Cleary said, referring to their brother, Jim Schrage.
Ms. Schrage was a member of Sts. Boniface and James Church in Ludlow, and a former member of the Ludlow Rotary Club and the Ludlow Business Association.
"She was actually the only woman at the time" -- the early 1960s -- in those local business organizations, Cleary said.
Other survivors include a brother, Jim Schrage of Indianapolis.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sts. Boniface and James Church, Ludlow. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright. Memorials are suggested to St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, 401 E. 20th St., Covington, Ky. 41014; or the charity of the donor's choice.
Marion Oliver Beach, 81, of Cartersville, Ga., formerly of Boone County, died Tuesday at Cartersville Medical Center.
Arrangements are pending at Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home, Verona.
Louella Clifton, 75, of Erlanger, died Wednesday at Deaconess Hospital, Cincinnati. She was a retired cook with Kmart and a member of Elsmere Baptist Church. Her husband, Billy Clifton Sr., died in 1998.
Survivors include daughters, Beverly Skidmore and Diana Mohr, both of Erlanger; sons, Billy Clifton Jr. of Owenton and Timmy Clifton of Florence; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to Elsmere Baptist Church, 250 Garvey Ave., Elsmere, Ky. 41018. Stith Funeral Home, Florence, is handling arrangements.
H. Lynn Tieuli Cooper, 76, of Park Hills, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. She was a retired chemical dependency counselor.
Survivors include a daughter, Anne Hood of Park Hills; sons, Robert E. Enman of Manchester, N.H., and William J. Enman of Glendale, Ariz.; brothers, Joseph Tieuli, Adam Tieuli, Fred Tieuli and Anthony Tieuli, all of Milford, Mass.; sisters, Sister Mary Ann D.M., of Berwick, Pa., Celia Gordon and Alice Scordamaglia, both of Milford, Mass., and Vetrana Folan of Portland, Maine; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Sisters of Notre Dame Chapel of St. Joseph Heights, Park Hills. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Milford, Mass. Bertha Combs, 74, of Fort Thomas, died at 7:32 a.m. Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Cecil Combs, died in 1992.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Kennedy of Bellevue; sons, Billy Combs of Covington, Gene Combs of Newport and Kenny Combs of Latonia; sisters, Cindy Milands of Jackson and Emaline Edwards of Covington; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Fares J. Radel Funeral Home, Newport. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.
Jane M. Cornell, 84, of Placerville, Calif., formerly of Edgewood, died May 8 at her home. She was a teacher and textbook author. Her husband, Bob Cornell, died in 2000. A daughter, Geary Haller, died in 1999.
Survivors include sons, John Robert Cornell of Placerville and Michael Cornell of Crestview Hills.

William R. Evans, 82, of Covington, died Tuesday at his home. He was a bricklayer with Newport Steel and a member of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Union Local No. 2, Newport. His wife, Muriel A. Kent Evans, preceded him in death.
Survivors include a son, Steven R. Evans of Walton; a daughter, Cheryl Reed of Union; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Ronda "Pixie" Snow Gillum, 44, of Covington, died Wednesday at her home. She was a homemaker and a part-time cafeteria worker with U.S. Playing Card Corp., Norwood, Ohio.
Survivors include her husband, Gregory D. Gillum; daughters, Mandra Gillum of Florence, Shannon Gillum of Erlanger and Ronda Gillum of Covington; a son, David Gillum of Covington; sisters, Linda Brock of Erlanger and Nelda "Patches" DiFrank of Edgewood; brothers, Rodney Snow, Chester Snow and Woodrow Snow, all of Burlington; and three grandchildren.

Mary Martha Heinrichs, 78, of Erlanger, died at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
She was a homemaker and a retired tour guide with the L&N; Railroad, and a member of St. Therese Church, Southgate. She was a member of the church Altar Society and Super Seniors. Her husband, Charles F. Heinrichs, died in 1996.
Survivors include daughters, Eleanor Blanchet of Southgate, Rose Stoeckle of Edgewood, Tina Steinnecker of Fort Wright and Dorothy Pangallo of Cold Spring; sons, C. Anthony Heinrichs of San Diego, Robert Heinrichs of Alexandria, Leo Heinrichs of Cold Spring, John Heinrichs of Edgewood and Frank Heinrichs of Fort Mitchell; a brother, David Stratman of Cincinnati; a sister, Sue Gronck of Covington; and 13 grandchildren.

Mary Edna Osborn, 99, of Warsaw, died at 6:10 p.m. Tuesday at Gallatin County Health Center, Warsaw.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a daughter, Frances Webster of Warsaw; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Carlton-Lowder Funeral Home, Warsaw.
Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Ghent Cemetery.
Samuel Reeves, 78, of Dry Ridge, died Monday at his home.
He was a retired mover with Global Moving Co., Cincinnati.
Survivors include a son, Steve Reeves of Cincinnati; daughters, Sharon Boling of Powell, Tenn., and Ramona Johnston of Harriman, Tenn.; a brother, Lloyd Reeves of Middletown, Ohio; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at noon Friday at Eckler-Hudson Funeral Home, Dry Ridge.
Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Friday.
Burial will be in Hill Crest Cemetery, Dry Ridge.

Mike Sawyer, 40, of Maysville, was found dead at 1:10 p.m. Monday at Hardymon's Landing on the Ohio River in Mason County.
He was a cook with the French Quarter Inn, Maysville.
Survivors include his wife, Theresa Lynn Sawyer; a daughter, Tosha Pertuest of Otway, Ohio; a son, Damian Downing of Maysville; his parents, Clifford Vaughn and Bonnie Sawyer; sisters, Lena Sandlin of West Union, Jennie Trivet of Morrow, Ohio, and Rhonda Hall of Middletown, Ohio; brothers, Wendell Sawyer and Junior Sawyer, both of Morrow; and four grandchildren.

Brenda Sebastian Schadler, 51, of Union, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
She was a pharmacist with Walgreens and attended Grace Baptist Church, Independence. She was a member of the Pharmacists Honor Society, the Northern Kentucky and state pharmacists association.
Survivors include her husband, Dr. David C. Schadler; sons, Benjamin C. Schadler and Zachary E. Schadler, both of Union; her parents, Henry E. and Mary Turner Sebastian of Taylor Mill; a brother, Paul Sebastian of Jackson; and sisters, Diane A. Sebastian and Phyllis Patton, both of Taylor Mill.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Oak Ridge Baptist Church, Taylor Mill.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the church.
Burial will be in William H. Turner Mill Dam Cemetery, Breathitt County.

Frederick M. Warren Jr., 75, of Fort Thomas, died Friday at Baptist Convalescent Center, Newport.
He was a printer.
Survivors include sons, Dale Warren, Drew Warren, Greg Warren, Jeffrey Warren and Keith Warren, all of Cincinnati; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at the convenience of the family.
