Larry C. West, lawyer; his word was 'golden'
Opposing lawyers dealing with Larry C. West knew that, when he agreed to something with them, there was no need to get it in writing to make it stick.
"His word was absolutely golden, " said Jim West, of Edgewood, a son who practiced law alongside his father at Ware Bryson West & Kummer.
"Between lawyers, things can sometimes get heated, but he never directed a harsh word toward anyone. Other lawyers respected his honesty and sense of fairness, and they knew that if he promised something, it would happen."

"One of my dad's biggest strengths was his calm and steady manner, " Jim West said. "No matter what crisis dad faced, you could not rattle him."
For his unrelenting insistence on high ethical standards and his tireless work on insurance, capital murder and civil wrongful death cases, Larry West was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Northern Kentucky Bar Association in November.
He was a member of the board of First National Bank of Kentucky, a member of Inns of Court, the Kentucky and American bar associations, Fort Mitchell Baptist Church and the Fort Mitchell Country Club.
He served with the Army's 101st Airborne Division in the Korean War.
When he was away from the office, Mr. West enjoyed spending time with his family and playing golf.
