Nancy Jane Terry, homemaker
Nancy Jane Terry is going home.
The 74-year-old Covington resident, who died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, will be buried in Winfield, Tenn.
Her parents died when she was 3, and she and her six siblings were sent to live with relatives. A family in Tennessee raised her on their farm.
When she was 17, she came to Cincinnati to look for a job, said her husband, Leonard Junior Terry. She worked as an elevator operator for about a year, and then got married.
The marriage ended in divorce. A second husband died of a blood clot, and a third husband died of a heart attack.
When she was 32, Mrs. Terry met Leonard Terry in a restaurant. He was attracted to her because "she was a woman who liked to talk and was interested in things, " he said.
As a homemaker, she was a wonderful cook, whose favorite meal was green beans, potatoes and corn on the cob. She raised rose bushes, but didn't claim to have the green thumb that the woman who raised her had.
She didn't belong to a church or any other organization, and she never had any children. She was a good person who got along well with her neighbors, her husband said.
