MARY ANN DYKSTRA
Miss Mary Ann Dykstra, age 57, of Hospers, passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2007, at the Northwest Iowa Health Center Senior Care in Sheldon.
There will be a funeral service on Monday, April 23, at 11:00am, at the First Christian Reformed Church in Hospers. The Rev. Duane Tinklenberg will officiate. Interment will follow at the Hospers Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2:00pm on Sunday, with the family present from 2:00pm to 4:00pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Hospers.
Mary Ann was born on December 18, 1949, in Sheldon, the daughter of Dick J. and Wilma (Andringa) Dykstra. She was raised at Archer until 1951, when she moved to a farm by Hospers, attending the Hospers Christian School.
She made her home with her parents, until her mother passed away in 1993. She then lived with her sister, Elizabeth, and her family until 1995. She then moved to the Hope Haven Residential Training Center in Orange City. In June of 2006, she became a resident of the Northwest Iowa Health Center.
While living at Hope Haven, Mary Ann was employed at Park View Industries in Rock Valley. She enjoyed attending Hope Haven's Wednesday evening Bible studies.
She was a professing member of the First Christian Reformed Church. She liked listening to hymns and doing embroidering.
Survivors include a brother and his wife, Jacob and Joan Dykstra, of Archer; two sisters and their husbands, Edith and Robert Swaving, of Lakewood, California; and Elizabeth and Glenn Gesink, of Maurice; a sister-in-law, Karen Dykstra, of Worthington, Minnesota; and ten nephews and nieces.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Dykstra.
Memorials may be directed to the church.
Scott Griese
Scott Griese, age 49 of Sanborn, IA passed away at the Sanford Sheldon Medical Center in Sheldon on Thursday, March 15, 2012.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 19th at 10:00 a.m. at the Cornerstone United Reformed Church in Sanborn. Rev. Daniel Donovan will be officiating.
Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 18th at the Sanborn Funeral Home Chapel with the family present from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. Burial will be at Baker Township cemetery in Melvin.
The Sanborn Funeral Home in Sanborn is in charge of the arrangements for 49 year old Scott Griese of Sanborn.
Viola “Ole” Wasmund
Viola “Ole” Wasmund, age 90 died Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at Sibley Nursing and Rehab Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, March 17th at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Sibley, IA, with Father John Vakulskas and Father Clair Boes as celebrants. Burial will follow at the church cemetery in Sibley.
Visitation will be Friday, March 16th from2:00 to8:00 PM, with the family present from 6:00 to8:00 PM at Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley. There will be a Rosary service at 5:00 PM and Vigil service at 7:30 PM at the funeral home Friday night.
MARGERY J. FRERIKS
Mrs. Margery Freriks, age 95, of Alton, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, May 31, at the Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City, Iowa.
There will be a family graveside service at the Nassau Township Cemetery, near Alton. The Revs. Michael and Elizabeth Hardeman, of the Alton Reformed Church, will officiate. The family will greet friends on Saturday, June 2, from 2:00pm to 3:00pm, at the Heritage House in Orange City. Arrangements are with the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.
Margery Johanna was born on January 30, 1912, at Orange City, the daughter of Joe and Annetta (De Haan) Bloemendaal. She was raised at Orange City, where she graduated from the Northwestern Acadamy and Junior College. She then was a school teacher.
On January 28, 1933, she married
Donald Dick Freriks in Nebraska. They made their home in Alton, where Marge was a homemaker. In 1990, they moved to Orange City. In 1996, she became a resident of the Heritage House.
She was a longtime member of the Alton Reformed Church.
Survivors include her two daughters, Gretchen Graves, and Mary, and her husband, Daryl Wierda, both of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; five grandchildren, Dan Graves, and his wife, Treva; Matt Graves, and his wife, Erika; Ann, and her husband, Joshua Rowland; Allison, and her husband, Gary Suttle; and Sarah Wierda; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Myrtle Vanden Berg and Phyllis Tuininga, both of Orange City.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Terry Graves; and a sister, Gladys Mulder.
Memorials may be directed to the Alton Reformed Church Music Fund and the Heritage House Foundation.
Wilbur Smith
Wilbur Smith, age 90 of Hartley, IA and formerly of Sanborn, IA passed away at the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley on Sunday, March 4, 2012.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 24th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church in Sanborn. Rev. Thomas Connors will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial service at the church with the family present at that time. Inurnment will be at Roseland cemetery in Sanborn.
The Sanborn Funeral Home in Sanborn is in charge of the arrangements for 90 year old Wilbur Smith of Sanborn.
George Braaksma
George Braaksma, age 94 of Sibley, IA died Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at Sibley Nursing & Rehab Center in Sibley, IA.
Family and friends will gather at Jurrens Funeral Home in Sibley at 12:15 PM Monday afternoon, March 19th and process to the Holman Township cemetery for committal.
A memorial service will be 2:00 PM, Monday, March 19th at the Sibley Senior Citizen Center in Sibley, IA. Time for food and fellowship will follow the service.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 18th from4:00 to 8:00 PM, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley.
