Margaret Cason, caring mother, grandmother
Margaret E. Cason had never ventured far from home when her son decided to take her on a family trip to Florida.
"By far, it was the farthest she'd ever been from home, " said a son, Randall Cason of Erlanger. "She was a little iffy on the whole idea at first, but she wound up having a great time. She really enjoyed traveling."
Mrs. Cason wound up accompanying her son on two more trips to Florida, visiting St. Petersburg and the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, eating out and having a great time.
Mrs. Cason, 89, formerly of Erlanger, died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a homemaker.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Harlan Cason.
Mrs. Cason had few hobbies, but one thing she did enjoy was attending her grandchildren's sporting events, especially basketball games.
Although soft-spoken in her later years while living at Rosedale Manor, Mrs. Cason was known as an outspoken and caring mother and grandmother in her prime.
"When she talked, we definitely listened, " Randall Cason said.
Other survivors include a daughter, Louise Marksberry of Covington; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Swindler & Currin Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will begin there from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.
Peggy Bruin, 67, of Union, died Sunday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, George Bruin; a son, Gregory Salsbury of Burlington; a stepson, George Patrick Bruin of Hebron; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will be from noon until the time of services Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill. Memorials are are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.
David E. Doeker, 77, of Southgate, died Thursday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.
He was a retired advertisement salesman with the The Post and Times Star in Cincinnati and the Catholic Register.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Doeker; sons, Andrew J. Doeker of Newport and David A. Doeker of Taylor Mill; a daughter, Denise Ferguson of Cincinnati; a sister, Marilyn Leonard of Cincinnati; and three grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 6 p.m. today at Sacred Heart Church, Bellevue. Visitation will be from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. today at A.C. Dobbling and Son Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Jonathan Lee Ehrenberg, 30, of Maysville, died Saturday in an automobile accident.
Survivors include his parents; Joseph V. and Patricia Ehrenberg of Maysville; a son, Caleb Jon Ehrenberg of Maysville; a stepson, Shawn Lawrence, and a stepdaughter, Kandiace Lawrence, both of Maysville; and a brother, Joseph D. Ehrenberg of Aberdeen, Ohio.
Services will be at 8 p.m. Thursday at Brell & Son Funeral Home, Maysville. Visitation will begin there at 5 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Maysville Cemetery.
Lloyd E. Ellis, 66, of Cincinnati, died at 3:19 a.m. Sunday at his home. He was a building coordinator retired from Fifth and Race Tower, Cincinnati, a former truck driver and an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Georgia Asher Ellis; sons, Earl D. Ellis of Florence and Douglas E. Ellis, Sebastion Ellis, Anthony W. Ellis and Donovan Ellis, all of Cincinnati; a sister, Louise LaBlance of Chicago, Ill.; 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home, Verona. Visitation will be from noon until the timeo f services today at the funeral home. Burial will be in New Bethel Cemetery, Verona.
Mike Flaherty, 27, of Falmouth, died Sunday at Metro Health, Cleveland, Ohio. He belonged to the World Bullriding Federation, the International Professional Rodeo Association and the North American Bullriders Association. He was also a truck driver for Tuemler Gas.
Survivors include his wife, Brandi Flaherty, and a son, Lane Michael Flaherty; parents; Dan and Karen Flaherty of Falmouth; and a sister, Dana Florence of Bellevue.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Southern Baptist Church, Florence. Visitation will be held there from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth. Peoples Funeral Home, Falmouth, is handling the arrangements.
Phyllis Fuller, 66, of Butler, died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a retired receptionist.
Survivors include a son, Bobby Fuller of Butler; daughters, Karen Breitkravtz and Kathy Lonaker, both of Butler; her mother, Thelma Long of Bellevue; brothers, Bob Fukano of Alexandria, Jay Johnson, of Bellevue, and Richard Fukano of Covington; sisters, Robin Foley of Dry Ridge and Dotty Hoop of Newport; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Peoples Funeral Home, Falmouth. Visitation will begin there at noon Wednesday. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth.
Sandra L. Landers, 55, of Crittenden, died at 2 a.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North Hospice Unit, Covington.

Allie Nell Messer, 73, of Highland Heights, died Sunday at her home. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include sons, Floyd and Ray Messer, both of Highland Heights; daughters, Mae Owens of Newport and Mary Ann Warf of Highland Heights; a brother, James Helton of Corbin; a sister, Isabell Henson of Detroit, Mich.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at A.C. Dobbling & Son Funeral Home, Bellevue. Visitation will be held there from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Taylor Mill. James C. Modlin, 78, of Ludlow, died Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
He was a trainman retired from Norfolk and Southern Railroad, a member of First Baptist Church, Ludlow, United Transportation Union and a World War II veteran of the Army.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Wheeler Modlin; a son, Steven J. Modlin of Richwood; daughters, Cheryl Kiefer of Erlanger and Joy Carol Herbstreit of Florence; stepsons, David Robinson of Maxey Valley, Billie Robinson of Moreland and Ronald Robinson of Parksville; stepdaughters, Ann Mayes of Midway, Glenda Simpson of Moreland, and Nancy McMullin of Harrodsburg; 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Servicdes will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church, Ludlow. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.

Edward Lee Perkins, 94, of Walton, died Saturday at St. Luke Hospital, Florence.
He was a retired maintenance technician for Formica and a member of All Saints Parish.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sally Mae Leach, who died in 1994, and a son, Earl Perkins, who died in 1989.
Survivors include his wife, Marcella Faye Brown Perkins, of Walton; a son, Larry Bunch of Erlanger; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at All Saints Parish, Walton. Visitation will begin there at 4:30 p.m.
Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill. Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, Walton, is handling the arrangements.

Robert Thomas Seivers, 66, of Cynthiana, died Sunday at Trilogy Health Center at Harrison Memorial Hospital, Cynthiana.
He was a retired tobacco contractor and a Navy veteran.
Survivors include sons, Terry Seivers of Lexington, Bobby Seivers of Tampa, Fla., Bill Seivers, Chris Seivers and Terry Canter, all of Cynthiana; daughters, Sharon Simpson of Harrison County and Cathy Seivers of Henderson, Ky.; a brother, Cecil Seivers of Louisville; 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 9 tonight at Ware Funeral Home, Cynthiana. Visitation will begin there at 6 p.m.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Camp Nelson National Cemetery, Nicholasville.
