Charles Garvey, loved being priest
The Rev. Charles M. Garvey traveled through life with a commitment to his vocation and laughter never far from his lips.
The Covington native seized opportunities to lead a varied life of priestly service, including 25 years as a philosophy professor at Villa Madonna College, being a parish priest and a chaplain for several organizations.
"He loved being a priest. He used to say, 'I love to say Mass. I just love every part of being a priest, ' " said his sister Mary Ann Eyink, of Miami Township, Ohio.

Throughout his life, he made friends easily and put others at ease with a quick laugh and a positive attitude that stayed with him through his declining years.
"He always laughed. He never complained. He laughed a lot. I think he laughed through his illnesses and bad things, " Mrs. Eyink said.
Rev. Garvey was a lover of opera and classical music, and collected a large library of books on a multitude of subjects.
Rev. Garvey was chaplain for the Veterans Administration hospital in Fort Thomas, Good Shepherd Convent in Fort Thomas and Father Kehoe Council Knights of Columbus in Ludlow.
