R. Hammons, loved his music, work and family
Robert L. Hammons approached his job and his music with similar fervor.
Mr. Hammons was the youngest of 12 children and the only one to follow his father's musical interests. When Mr. Hammons was 13, his father died. His father's guitar was given to Mr. Hammons, said a brother, Danny Hammons of Erlanger.
"He learned to play it real well, " Danny Hammons said.
Robert Hammons was a graduate of Scott High School and made his living as a house painter and dry wall finisher.
"It wasn't only a trade with him, it was like an art, " Danny Hammons said. "He wouldn't do anything half way. He took his time and did an excellent job. He loved his work, his music and his family."
Mr. Hammons, 39, of Taylor Mill, died at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood.
Mr. Hammons had moved into his mother's house in December after he broke his heel while cave exploring with friends in Laurel County, said another brother, Mike Hammons of Park Hills, president of Forward Quest in Northern Kentucky.
Mike Hammons said their mother found Mr. Hammons unconscious in his bed on Monday.
"He had aspirated in his sleep. He died from organ failure, " Mike Hammons said.
Other survivors include his mother, Anna Mae Darpel Hammons of Taylor Mill; sisters, Sandra Chabre of Park Hills, Mary Jo Eads of Corbin, Peggy Alig of Florence, Rita Rothert of Kenton Hills, Carol Czirr of Lexington, Teresa Vetter of Edgewood and Betty Jane DeVita of Lakeside Park; brothers, Tom Hammons of Indianapolis, Ind., and Sam Hammons of San Bruno, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony Church in Taylor Mill. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at Connley Brothers Funeral Home in Latonia followed by prayers at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Mother of God cemetery in Fort Wright.

Nancy Colston Abercrombie, 57, of Williamstown, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center Grant County, Williamstown. She was a quality control worker with Hopple Plastics, Florence.
Survivors include her husband, Dillen Abercrombie; a son, Dickie Abercrombie of Visalia; brothers, Richard Colston of Minneapolis and Buddy Catron of Piner; sisters, Crita Abercrombie of Atlanta, Jane Catron of Piner and Joy Kennedy of Florence; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Crittenden. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Crittenden Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, 6612 Dixie Highway, Suite 2A, Florence, Ky. 41042.
Eric J. Badgett, 51, of Edgewood, died Tuesday at his home. He was a salesman with Gutter Guard, Cincinnati, and was a mortgage broker.
Survivors include his father, James Badgett of Dunwoody, Ga.; and brothers, Greg Badgett of Cumming, Ga., and Brice Badgett of Plano, Texas.
Services will be at 5:30 p.m. today at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill. Visitation will begin there at 4 p.m. Burial will be in Dayton, Ohio, National Cemetery.
Clarence Henry Behne, 75, of Florence, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a salesman with American Sound and Electronics Inc., and a member of St. Paul Church, Florence, the Florence Lions Club and St. Timothy Seniors Group.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores Behne; daughters, Sharon Altieri of Florence, Debbie Cassedy and Kim Yarawski, both of Burlington; sons, Duane Behne of Waldo, Ohio, Greg Behne of Florence, Ken Behne of Burlington and Tim Behne of Union; brothers, David Behne of Sun City, Ariz., and Jerome Behne of Fort Thomas; a sister, Karen Brennan of Cincinnati; 20 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at noon Saturday at St. Paul Church, Florence. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Saturday. Entombment will be in St. Mary Mausoleum, Fort Mitchell. Troy Carter, 34, of Erlanger, died Tuesday at his home. He was a server with Pizza Hut, Highland Heights.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Christine Carter and Robert Nolan of Erlanger; his father and stepmother, Duane and Betsy Niemeyer of Covington; brothers, Health Niemeyer of Florence, Josh Niemeyer of Covington and Malcolm Niemeyer of San Diego; and sisters, Carrie Mardis of Boone County, Amy Niemeyer of Erlanger and Heather Niemeyer of Covington.

Carolynn W. Conkle, 64, of Florence, died Wednesday at University Hospital, Cincinnati. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Philip Conkle; daughters, Kelly Deaton of Walton and Debbie Humphrey of Hebron; and two grandchildren.

Julia Breeze Cox, 84, of Walton, died Thursday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. She was a former employee of Shillito's Department Store and Boone County Schools, and a member of Walton Baptist Church and Order of the Eastern Star, Walton. Her husband, Curtis Glenn Cox, died in 1975.
Survivors include daughters, Glenda Gail Wood of Walton and Donna Lee Ward of Cincinnati; sons, William Earl Cox of Corinth and Ronald Dane Cox of Danville; a sister, Hazel Virginia Poetter of Florence; 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

Marilyn M. Paulus Dunn, 74, of Cincinnati, formerly of Southgate, died Tuesday at Hospice of Cincinnati. She was a teacher at St. Stephen School, Villa Madonna Academy and Divine Providence High School.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph "Neil" Dunn; a son, Barry Dunn of Milford Center, Ohio; a sister, Irene Vickers of Southgate; and two grandchildren.

Helen Viola Hehman, 100, of Covington, died at 12:05 a.m. Thursday at St. Charles Care Center, Covington. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Anne Auxiliary and St. Vincent de Paul Church, Newport.
Her husband, Linus F. Hehman Sr., died in 1975. A son, Linus G. Hehman, died in 2000.
Survivors include daughters, Sister Mary Heleen Hehman, S.N.D., of Covington and Martha Hehman Hafner of Cincinnati; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Blanche H. Kuhn, 85, of Covington, died at 3:35 a.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington.
She was a homemaker.
Her husband, George Kuhn, died in 1999.
Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Kroger of Covington; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Louis C. Kramer, 74, of Alexandria, died at 6:10 p.m. Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.
He was a retired brewer with Hudepohl Brewing Co. and a custodian with Campbell County High School.
He was a member of Disabled American Veterans, Cold Spring, VFW Post No. 1400 in Alexandria, Catholic Order of Foresters and St. Mary Church, Alexandria.
Survivors include his wife, Adella Schultz Kramer; daughters, Shirley DeBellevue of Lexington and Sharon Fuhrman of Alexandria; sons, Rick Kramer, Steve Kramer and Joe Kramer, all of Alexandria; a sister, Aqlma Kramer of Alexandria; and four grandchildren.

She was a member of the church choir. Her husband, Leroy Main, died in 2002.
Survivors include daughters, Martha Mains of Melbourne, Loranna Thomas of Independence, Melissa Pratt of Alexandria and Cindy Schmidt of Melbourne; sons, Matthew Mains of Erlanger and Leroy Mains Jr. of Melbourne; brothers, James Darlington of Demossville and Jessie Darlington of Montana; and 10 grandchildren.

Robert P. Millay Sr., 64, of Florence, died Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence.
He was owner of Millay Construction Co. in Florence, a past president of the Boone County Jaycees, and a member of Boone County Businessmen's Association, the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and Florence Fire Board.
His wife, Margaret Taney Millay, died in 2002.
Survivors include sons, Robert Millay Jr. of Burlington and Scott Millay of Florence; daughters, Karen Faust, Pam Millay and Shelly Millay, all of Florence, Terry Swikert of Sidell, La., Patty Mueller of Independence and Christy Norris of Columbus, Ohio; brothers, Chester Millay and Marvin Millay, both of Independence, and Donald Millay of Mayo, Fla.; and 16 grandchildren.

Gordon F. Mullins, 63, of Lexington, formerly of Williamstown, died Thursday at his home.
He was an assistant director of the Kentucky Legislative Research Commission and a member of Southern Hills United Methodist Church, Lexington.
His wife, Jacqueline Mullins, preceded him in death.
Survivors include a son, Todd Mullins of Lexington; a daughter, Rebecca Barrett Mullins of Lexington; a brother, R. Lorin Mullins of Franklin; and a granddaughter.

He was an employee of C&O; Railroad and a Navy and Marine Corps veteran.
